We stayed here for a long weekend visiting family in Sheffield. We agree with the previous review, this is a gem of a site, very well maintained and the facilities spotlessly clean. When we arrived the owner showed us to our pitch and was extremely nice and helpful.
The site has large wooden gates at the entrance which are locked overnight and smaller gates at the entry to the orchard so felt very secure.
There is a Co op shop and the beautiful Rother Valley Country Park nearby.
The sun was shining, the birds were singing as we sat out under the shade of a greengage tree, it was lovely.
Highly recommended, a pleasure to meet such genuinely nice people.

A gem of a site, very well kept with firm grass pitches in the orchard. When we arrived we were met by the owner who showed us to our pitch and was extremely nice and helpful with information on local eating establishments and places where we could go for a pint etc.
Toilet and shower rooms were spotlessly clean, a single toilet and shower which is plenty for the limited number of pitches, and we were given a key to the facilities on arrival.
There are three fishing lakes, the main one was busy on the day we left which reinforced the fact that the lakes were well stocked. The owner made us breakfast on the Sunday morning in the little cafe which was great, £4. 95 for a full English.
The site is well guarded with large wooden gates and smaller gates at the entry to the orchard allowing you to relax in the knowledge that your equipment is absolutely secure.
Once again a great little site which I would highly recommend, and only wish I had been staying longer. I'm sure I will return (soon)

We have just returned to caravanning after having a motorhome for 3 years. We arrived Friday evening having just collected our caravan and I was a bit anxious but I need not have worried. The owner was just wonderful helping us to park, never having used motor movers before it was great to have someone there who did have experience.
We found a pub nearby for an excellent meal that evening. The following morning The owner cooked our breakfast although we could not possibly have managed his full english version, he did us a smaller version for just £2. 60 each. The setting here is idyllic. We were parked in the orchard between two fishing lakes.
The toilet and shower facilities were spotless. We found it really convenient for shopping and getting back to the M1 to head south for a journey home. Sadly we had to get our new caravan home on Sunday otherwise we would have been happy to stay longer.

Got back today after another, 3rd, great time at this site after booking late on Friday. Arrived on Saturday and set up. My Partner went fishing while I visited Crystal Peaks shopping centre.
The trees in the orchard are full of fruit, the apples and plumbs are nice and sweet, watch for the grubs. Had one of their lovely cooked breakfasts, £4.50, in the little cafe not worth getting the frying pan out as fills you for the day.
Although the weather was not great it was yet again a nice peaceful stay. When the weather is ok there are some nice walks. There is a co-op only 10 minuets walk away.
Will be back before the site closes in October. If you want some peace and quiet then this is the place.

What a beautiful site. It is immaculately kept as are the fishing lakes. The toilet and shower were spotless. The owners are very friendly and helpful and are very willing to give their advice.
They recommended the Beehive in nearby Harthill for Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed - one of the nicest lunches we've had for sometime. The site is very secure, the main gate is locked at night.
The fishing was very good although we didn't catch one of the 'bigguns'. David keeps a close eye on the lakes to ensure that the rules are abided by and that there aren't any problems.
Unfortunately, and this is the only downside to this site, the wind changed direction whilst we were there and the noise from the motorway became rather intrusive - the price to pay for the sunshine no doubt!

Well, what can we say that hasn't already been said?
This is a real gem of a site - so peaceful and well maintained and the toilet and shower are immaculate.
We visited this site as we now live in Worcestershire and wanted to visit the Sheffield area to visit relatives and friends and this site definitely fit the bill.
The location is excellent as it is very close to the M1. The approach to Horseshoe Lake is down a poorly maintained road but you will definitely not be disappointed when you arrive as the site is lovely and the owners will make you feel welcome from the outset.

Lovely small site, only 5 pitches, quiet and peaceful location next to fishing lakes.
No problem with electric hook up.
The owner could not have been more hospitable and helpful, with information and advice.
Single toilet and separate shower kept immaculately clean.
For a restful and relaxing few days we could not have asked for more.
You would not believe you were just a few minutes off the motorway, in the middle of a residential area ! Amazing.
Would most definitely recommend and come back.
For £ 12 per night inclusive could not have asked for any more, have stayed on sites costing a lot more that do not have the location and peace this site does. Thank you to the owners.

We stayed on this site for 4 nights over the Mayday weekend. The hosts are a great, friendly and helpful couple nothing is too much trouble.
The site is kept immaculate. the pitches are on the orchard.
The toilet and shower block are kept very clean with towels in the toilet. It is a nice quiet site even though the motorway is not far away.
If you wish to fish you have a choice of 3 lakes.
There are shops and a great chip shop only a couple of minutes drive away with Worksop town centre about 20 minutes drive.
David said there are a few walks to go on but I enjoyed relaxing while my partner fished.
There is also Rothervalley country park and Crystal Peaks shopping centre about 4. 5 miles away. This site is great if you wish to relax.
We will definitely be back, several times.

It was extremely wet but the camp field was beautifully kept. There was only 1 shower and 1 toilet but newly built and immaculately kept and ample for a small site.
The owners were really nice friendly and helpful.
The site is tucked away and secure the gates are locked at night so no intruders. There is also a fishing lake which gets busy on match days but we didn't find it a threat, and would be lovely for the enthusiasts.
We were able to cycle from site to the lovely Rother Vally Country Park and then as many miles as you choose,
There are buses from the village to many places and a park and ride about 3 Miles away to Sheffield. There are also lots of foot paths around but it was far to wet for us to venture too far in the mud.
The fee we felt was reasonable and we will be returning. A gem of a site.

This is a lovely peaceful site not far from the M1 motorway that ticked all the boxes for us. It is in a grassy orchard, and at this time of year we were allowed to help ourselves to the apples and pears from the mature fruit trees. After driving through houses off the main road through Wales we went through Horseshoe Lakes gates leading to a gravelled carpark. These gates are locked at night. Entrance to the 5 van site is straight ahead through another set of gates. There are fishing lakes either side of the site with entrances from the car park, and the building housing the toilet and shower for use of campers only is in the car park too. The owners are friendly and helpful and we will certainly be back. There is a regular bus service to Sheffield and Rotherham direct, also a railway station, Co-op and pub Duke of Leeds that is great for meals within walking distance.
