This was our second stay at Yapham Holds Farmhouse and yet again, it has been superb! Stephen and Janet were so helpful and friendly making us feel very welcome indeed. The field is in fabulous condition and is nice and flat for pitching on.
The toilet/shower block is immaculately clean with separate loo/shower and 3 wash basins. Hand soap and hand cream are also provided adding a very nice and welcome touch. Piped music plays in the block giving it a cosy and laid back feel. There are lots of leaflets and information flyers on the info board in the same block.
There is a washing up area with bowl and washing liquid provided and this area is covered making it helpful for when it rains but we didn't need to worry. We had 2 glorious days of hot weather with not a cloud insight! This was made all the better in that the pitches can be south facing getting sun from morning right through until sunset, perfect!
The hens were very friendly yet again, I'm sure they didn't remember us from last year but my 2 yr old did and had lots of fun following them around the field. Janet also gave us a pot of chicken feed which thrilled my daughter so much. We also bought some of their eggs laid freshly that day - one word - beautiful! Best eggs we've ever had and I said that after last year's visit.
We will definitely return, a superb spot, with excellent facilities and friendly and helpful owners. 10 out of 10 again!

Absolutely fantastic, just as described in previous reviews, really warm welcome from the owner who showed us the facilities, the toilet and shower block were superbly clean and had nice touches such as menus for local eateries.
The site was well maintained with the grass nice and low despite the recent poor weather which made for a great play area for the kids
There was very little noise apart from the odd tractor
Pocklington has all the amenities with a good selection of locally sourced produce and plenty of good places to eat and drink.
The site is very handily placed for York and all that the city has to offer.
A really relaxing weekend and we would highly recommend it to any one to get away from it all, We would love return towards the end of the summer.

I have just returned from a 2 night camping trip to Yapham Holds Farmhouse. I went with my partner and our 14 month old son. It was our 1st time camping in years and our 1st time using the new tent!
When we arrived we were greeted straight away by the owner, he was very friendly and helpful! He immediately showed us the facilities and offered assistance if we needed help with the tent (Which we managed fine in the end!) It was all very exciting and our son was taken with the VERY friendly hens that ran round the site coming to say hello every now and again. The campsite was fab! Really well looked after and cared for! The camping field was tidy and flat. There was a tap for drinking water and all the bins and recycling were in a tidy corner. There was a canopy over a wash basin which had hot running water and washing up liquid and the toilet and shower block were so clean and tidy. The music played in there 24 hours so at half 2 in the morning when you had to run to the loo it was still pleasant!
The weather we had was ok. A few sunny spells as well as some cloudy ones but nothing could have prepared us for the freezing cold nights! I couldn't believe how cold it was so if it's your 1st time and you don't know what to expect take plenty of blankets!
There isn't much around but there are plenty of walks and Pocklington is just a couple of miles away! A really pleasant little town to walk around and get some pub grub!
Overall I would give the site a 10/10. Clean and tidy, and very helpful friendly owners. We will definitely be going back, but only in summer when it is warmer!

A lovely little rural site. Good large, level pitches and friendly, helpful owners. The chickens were entertaining and their eggs were delicious - we even brought some home (eggs that is, not chickens).
Clean, modern, warm toilet/shower block - small but adequate, would have liked slightly more room to get dry/dressed. Also, we were the only unit on site, so not sure how well it would cope when busy.
Unfortunately we had terrible weather, so didn't stay as long as planned. But we loved Pocklington's traditional high street and independent shops and would like to explore more in the area, so I'm sure it won't be our only visit.
This was our first trip out with both our teenage children, and it must have been good, as they both want to do it again - and bring friends!

Lovely site, alongside quiet country lane. Within easy reach of of York and all the facilities in Pocklington as listed in other reviews.
The owners are very helpful and accommodating letting us know what, when and where.
The pitches are well spread out and level, the water and waste is very near. The free range chicks all have names and have coloured leg clips so you know who is who
Toilet block is well maintained and very clean.
We used this site as a base for walking some of the Yorkshire Wolds Way.
Worth visiting

This is a superb site.
It was our first outing with the folding camper having just upgraded from tents.
The owner Steve could not have been more helpful as we struggled to unhitch!
The family have taken over a run down house which they are renovating and started up this small site from scratch.
We say 'so far so good'.
The site has 4 hook ups and water nearby. There is plenty of room for children to play and there are 7 very friendly chickens to identify by name. They lay the most delicious eggs which we enjoyed for our breakfast the following day.
The toilet block is spotless wtih nice little touches like the radio piped into the block and hand lotion for those camping hands.
The site is in a perfect rural location with barn owls in the surrounding trees. York and Beverley are only around 10 miles from the site with the marvellous market town of Pocklington just 2 miles down the road.
Pocklington has everything you need from take aways and fish and chip shops to the fantastic Burton the Butcher with their amazing sausages. There is also an art centre with cinema and a leisure centre with swimming pool and gym. Market day is Tuesday.
Although we visited the site because it was convenient we loved it so much we will definitely be back.

We stayed one night whilst cycling the Way of the Roses (women and teenagers cycling - men in motorhomes providing logistical support!)
A fantastic site with:-
A pretty and well maintained camping field,
helpful, informative and tolerant owners and;
lovely loos and showers.
This was definitely the best site of our holiday and one we would like to return to whether for Way of the Roses cycling or as a base for a tour to include York and the Yorkshire Wolds. Both are easily accessible from this site.
We loved the friendly hens and were ashamed to have stocked up on eggs before we got here or we would have definitely bought eggs laid by the lovely hens here.

An absolute gem of a campsite. If you are looking for peace and quiet & an escape from the busy busy grind this is perfect. The owners are very friendly and Steve helped us to put up our tent when we arrived & gave us tips of how to put the tent up in the future. He had also helped the neighbours to put their new tent up! The free roaming hens meant we could buy 6 very fresh eggs. The toilets were immaculate & included hand cream. The view whilst sitting outside your tent gives you a wonderful sunset. The nearest town is about a 40 minute walk away or just a few minutes in the car, there is a free car park and plenty of lovely little shops. We will definitely be staying here again.

This campsite was superb! Easy to find north east of York, good flat ground so excellent for pitching on. Nice lawn edged by a variety of trees and bushes into adjacent fields. There are 2 sections, 1 with EHU and another without. Both are close to the drinking water tap, disposal units including recyclables and waste water drainage. At the side of the field is an iron gazebo with 1 wash sink, hot and cold water available with soap and sponge provided although we did have our own.
The facilities were ample with 1 toilet each for male/female and the same with the showers. Altogether there were 9 units this particular weekend, some with several children but there was no queuing at all. The facilities were very clean, spacious and airy with hand soap and cream free of charge too. There was even piped music into the block making it feel very relaxed.
When we arrived we were met by Steve, the owner, along with several of their chickens who came and introduced themselves to us very quickly! They certainly provided a lot of entertainment throughout the weekend and our 1year old daughter was fascinated by them. I absolutely have to add that the eggs they produced daily were divine! So good in fact we bought another 28 home on the day we left! Best free range eggs I've ever had.
Both Steve and his wife, Janet were lovely. Very helpful and friendly, even joining in with a beer with us over a chat while feeding their chickens.
There wasn't a pub within walking distance which didn't affect us as we prefer to stay on site in the evening enjoying the outside atmosphere, even when we did have torrential rain! Pocklington was a short drive away with plenty of shops to browse but we only went in to find a butchers for some local produce, which we did and his sausages were lovely, I just wish I could remember which one it was except for that he was the only one open at 4pm on Saturday afternoon!
We will definitely return to this site, even our first time campers who came with us have been bitten by the bug and I believe largely due to the excellent site, friendly owners and overall stay that we had - thank you Steve and Janet!

As echoed before, this is a lovely quiet and peaceful site, that is out of the way and ideal for a couple wanting to chill out. The owners are very friendly and came and checked everything was okay, but otherwise unobtrusive. The site is flat and well sheltered, it is a CS site with 5 ehu, but allow non-members for a nominal fee. The facilities are small, one toilet and shower per male and female but new and immaculately cleaned, with the radio playing in the background and fresh flowers, Janet & Steve also print off the BBC weather report daily(nice touch!)We had an enjoyable weekend, especially watching the chickens wander about, but as advised by the owners, don't encourage them by feeding them or they leave a calling card! This site looks to be a labour of love with additional plans identified for the site, but hopefully will retain its intimacy.
