Arrived for two nights, and was pleasantly greeted by the owner.

The facilities were immaculate, ample pitch space and no bossy orders stipulating where to park your vehicle etc. There is an ample dog walking area, which is fenced and contained enough bins for waste also.

The pièce de résistance was the no children rule! Overall, we enjoyed a benevolent stay with friends in another van.

Beware of the seasonal pitcher in the wolf T-shirt! insists on female dogs waiting until they reach the designated area, before they should urinate! (Apart from her own!) She will tell you off and shout across the site at 08:40 in the morning!)Ludicrous.

This would not deter us from returning, but it did taint our stay. (Can’t pick your neighbours)

We arrived at the site and was met by the site warden who showed us to our pitch, helped us move our caravan and then took my wife to show her where the facilities were. The pitches are very large with room for your caravan and awning on hard standing ground with a lovely big grass area to the side. The site has very high standards in all areas, the showers and toilets were immaculate and the grounds were gorgeous. The site is so peaceful and relaxing. We stayed at this site for a weekend and can't wait to go back again soon.

What a lovely site. Not far away from the train line. But not a problem. Lines to York, Hull, Bridlington, etc. No trains at night. Small toilet block with one shower. New and immaculately clean. The 'barnes Wallis' Inn five minutes walk away serving excellent food. Book a reservation at weekends though. Small quite site with dog exercise area adults only. Looking forward to a return visit only for longer.

Absolutely fantastic site. Owners are really friendly, kind and helpful.

The areas great for either a weekend or a week, you would find plenty to do.

Local pub 5 mins walk away is superb, excellent pub food menu at reasonable prices and very good beer. A lively beer garden if weather's nice.

Toilets and showers are spotless as are the water and els an points.

A very well maintained site in a lovely part of the country.

Perfect will be going again and again!

What a great site, flat, easy to find with clean facilities, excellent owners who were most obliging in offering assistance, as I am disabled I found this most helpful. The facilities met all my needs in full, with clean well appointed toilets and shower, to pay £1 for 7 minutes in my opinion was a bargain ! The TV reception was really good, the site is small and well maintained, very quiet and was excellent for dog owners with a safe fenced off area for the dogs to run off lead ! Being an adult only site meant it was quiet and relaxing both in the day and at night. There was even a free CD and book library with a large and varied selection. The only 1 negative for me was there was no wifi available but other than that I would still rate the site as 10/10. Well done Neil and Fiona !

Visited for the 1st time this weekend. What a nice site, clean, flat, not too big. Toilets spotless and very reasonable price. Very handy for the Barnes Wallis Inn just down the road, the food was very good and lots of choice. Also not far from Howden with a couple of co ops and numerous shops. Lovely area, station within walking distance for more choices of where to visit. Well worth a visit. Must just mention, adult only site.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Very enjoyable (although the weather was a big help) it was too. The pitches are a good size with grass to the side of the hardstanding. The toilet block is small but adequate, 2 toilets for ladies and the same for the gents, and one unisex shower, we only used the shower once, but everything is very clean.

The Barnes Wallis pub is a 5 minute walk and the food is excellent but don't go if you have a small appetite as the portions are huge, we went on the Thursday night and then again on Saturday for lunch, as it was lunch we just ordered a sandwich which once again was a huge portion, but very enjoyable. We drove into Howden On Friday just to have a look around and get a few supplies from the Co-op, it's a very quaint town.

Back to the site, being adult only it is very peaceful apart from the nearby trains, although you don't really hear them after a short time. The shower is £1 for 7 minutes which seems expensive, but my husband and I both managed to get a good shower for £1, and as the pitch is only £15 per night it is excellent value. Highly recommend a stay here (just leave room for us!)

What a delightful site this is. The impression one gets as you pass through the gate onto the site is that it is immaculately maintained and is of a high standard, pitches being spacious with gravelled tracks round the site leading into the gravelled pitches with neat grass areas between. The deputy warden greeted us and was friendly and helpful, taking the time to show us where the facilities were and how the shower meter worked, etc. There is, as has been said, one large unisex shower flanked by separate male and female loos, two in each section. We didn't bump into anyone at shower times so never had to wait around for one. If I wanted to be extremely picky I'd wish for three more minutes for my quid, but if you don't hang about, two can shower in 7 minutes. Soap and towel provided for the loos' handbasins along with hot water, with a clean towel every day - a small detail but a nice touch. Some DVDs and books are there for you to borrow should you need a little entertainment. There is a tidy little area for rubbish and recycling, with the elsan point and grey water drain contained therein. Again, clean and tidy at all times. There are two fresh water taps, one at either end of the site. Also, there is a fantastic little old pusscat who has adopted the site and enjoys a bit of fuss of an evening. Very sweet, she is.

In the far corner of the site is a lovely little pond with dabchicks nearby, and opposite this is a dog walking area. I think there may have been one or two dogs on site when we were there but the owners kept them quiet so no annoying barking to disturb. In fact, in the three nights we were there, the site was wonderfully quiet even though there were approximately 15 units in situ. There is a little road noise especially at going to work and going home times but really, it's not at all intrusive and come nighttime it's very quiet. Besides, the song throughsh was singing his head off most evenings and easily gave the traffic a run for its money.

The pub is 5 minutes' walk down the road and although we didn't eat there (as there wasn't much choice for veggies) the landlady kept a very good pint. Howden is a well-stocked little town with independent shops as well as a reasonable sized Co-op and several restaurants and cafes. A few miles further on is Selby whose Abbey is well worth a visit. The coast is a bit of a trek but if you want candy floss and rock and all the fun of the fair, Bridlington is good fun.

All in all, it's a lovely part of the country and folk are pretty friendly. The site rounded it all off beautifully and we will definitely be back.

Booked on to Brenda House Touring Caravan site for 3 nights and ended up staying 8 nights.

What a lovely peaceful secluded site. The space between each pitch is one of the biggest we have been on. The layout of the pitches has been done in such a way as to ensure no one is overlooked. The shower is immaculate and the toilet block provides hot and cold water.

We were greeted by the friendly owners who assisted us on to our pitch and said would return in a few hours after we had got settled to explain a bit about the area and to book us in. Which they duly did. We were very grateful for the local knowledge and to be informed of the train timetable which we took advantage of having a wonderful day out in York.

The walks from the site are plentiful. You can walk over the fields into Howden itself passing 2 friendly donkeys on the way and if you are lucky as we were you will catch a glimpse of the deer and fox. Or if you prefer you can walk direct into Howden on the B1228 which has a path all the way direct from the site into Howden.

The Barnes Wallis pub is 5 minutes’ walk from the site and serves excellent food but be aware the portions are huge so don’t go for the big plates!

The only sounds we heard of an evening was the hooting of the barn owl which was lovely to see. We will certainly be back soon.

We visited this site during October and although it was nearing the end of the season we found it clean and well run.

The owners are friendly and helpful, and, will assist if you need help setting up.

The site has large pitches, all hard standing, with electric and water points conveniently positioned.

The site has separate men’s and women’s toilets with hand washing facilities in each. There is a unisex shower which runs on a meter. £1 for 7 mins. This was adequate time for both of us to get showered in.

The site is situated a few hundred yards north of Howden Railway Station, which is handy to go to places like Selby, York, Hull, Leeds, and further if you so wish. Although the railway is close by we were never disturbed during the night.

Howdens other claim to fame is that the Airship, (R100 or R101, not sure which), was built there. The pub at the railway station is named after one of the engineers Barnes Wallis. Here we got a reasonable meal but we learnt to ask for a small portion.

Neville Shute Norway (the author of A Town Like Alice) was also one of the engineers.

One thing you must not do is tow through the centre of Howden as it is made up of narrow roads. Approaching the site watch your speed, 30/40mph, police patrols.
