Nicely laid out site with generous hard standing pitched spaced well apart and very level.
Toilets and shower very clean but could of done with a small heater for the shower unit.
Helpful greeting from the site owners with advice about the facilities and gave a hand to manoeuvre caravan onto pitch.
Lovely town Howden just few minutes away
Good value for money site, however just a few minor points to beware of. We had booked for 3 nights and the owner was very quick to come over and take our cash, we soon found out why -
The road from 5am till around 9am was very noisy with artics belting along the straight road.
The site has no lights and we found it hard to even find the toilet block after dark. Whilst the shower was very clean and water nice and hot, we think £1 per shower is a little expensive.

A nice, clean, well-kept, quiet site with spacious hard-standing level pitches. The owners and on site warden were friendly & helpful. The site is a short drive from the pretty little town of Howden and not too far from Beverley. We had a very relaxing time there. The site is off the road (via a closed gate) and there is not much traffic noise. There is a working farm adjacent.
We found there were plenty of opportunities to eat out locally. Apart from the Barnes Wallis pub near the campsite and places in Howden, The Royal Oak pub on the road to Driffield (A614) provided a good menu choice with 2 excellent home cooked meals for £10 on weekdays.
The site boasts spotless facilities but only has 1 (well-sized) unisex shower which was expensive as it cost £1 for 7 minutes. The narrow gap at the top of the wall in the ladies, mentioned by a previous reviewer, would not have been a problem really but the owner had thoughtfully filled it in with opaque glass bricks to address any concerns about privacy. There are no washing up or washing facilities here other than small hand basins.
We appreciated the fact that this is an adults only site and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We would definitely like to visit it again.

Recent trip with our 31' RV plus trailer to this lovely site was an absolute pleasure. Helpful owners, large hard-stand all weather pitches and easy access made for a peaceful and relaxing week. Water tap not too far away and access to a drain for emptying our tanks.
Site is very well kept. Shower blocks are very clean and tidy. Enclosed dog walking area was very handy. Pub a short stroll down the road with the town (pretty town with an array of shops and supermarket) a longer walk or short drive away.
Stevie G's sandwich bar is recommended; lovely staff and excellent food. Railway station is near by with trains to York and Hull. Friendly people on site.
All in all an excellent well managed site and we will return.

Good arrival arrangements, by site warden.
This is probably a perfect site for caravans, but we lack facilities in our small camper van. Toilets and shower are fine, but sinks are small and not private. There were no obvious washing/cleaning facilities for plates etc.
It is very convenient for York (couple return after 09. 30 is £12. 00), and there are other places by rail (Hull, Selby). The local pub is great if you like big rather than than delicate.
Howden itself is definitely well worth a browse.

First time on this site and must admit only used it because of the reviews. The site itself is immaculate, attention to detail seems to be a way of life to the owners and top marks to them for all the work they put into the site.
The local pub is a quite stroll along a grass path, we are in our 60's and it is only a five minute stroll, I have to admit some locals do use this straight bit of road as a race track, but the path is wide and we never felt threatened.
There are plenty of shops and takeaways in Howden. We had lunch in a very nice Chinese restaurant for a set price and have to admit the food was excellent and good value.
I have tried to find something negative to say about this site and have failed. This site is good value for money and has a very relaxing atmosphere. If the owners read this review I hope they keep doing what they do best for as long as they enjoy doing it.

We have only just found this website on which we found our favourite site, Brenda House. We have been going there for about 4 years. As like others we have found it to be a quiet and peaceful site with friendly owners. On reading the reviews we found a few inconsistencies from other visitors, one being the railway station being handy then complaining about the trains. Another being mooing from cows, you tend to get that in the country, along with sounds from sheep, chickens and tractors.
If you don’t want to look at the dog walking area then turn your van round to look down a well- presented site. Talking of dog walks. There are places to walk them without the use of the car down quiet lanes and across fields.
The shower is good. We’ve been on site when it’s almost full, and we have never had to queue to use it. You may have to adjust your timings but that is all, you could get that on any campsite. Concerning the gap at the top of the wall between the men’s toilet and the shower. You would need to be very athletic to see over this wall as the gap is only about 8 inches, if anyone tried they would probably hang themselves. Also not many bring ladders with them in their vans, which would be necessary to attempt this manoeuvre.
There are no local attractions except the Minster and a selection of small shops plus a good garden centre, but there are plenty just a car ride away.
We have been caravanning/motor homing for the past 35 years or so and we very rarely return regularly to the same site. This is one site that we do, and will keep doing so.

Stopped at this site as we wanted to visit York and Bridlington and found the train station handy for this.
We was greeted by a lady who said the owners were away. She showed us to our pitch which was lovely until we sat eating our tea in the van to find out that the area which was about 10metres away from us was the dogs run with a dogs bin provided (not exactly what you want to look at)so don't go on pitch 9.
The site itself was very nice with spacious pitches. The toilets don't have any hot water and the shower which I didn't use was adjacent to the men's toilet, it had an open top wall which I didn't feel comfortable with.
The noise from the cows in the next field kept us awake, the late trains didn't help either. The road noise was bad in the week.
Another thing I feel I must mention is the situation of the sites signpost as you cannot see oncoming traffic when leaving site.
Didn't get to see owners even when they returned, so no comment to say about them.

Management response: The trains on the line stop running at 10:15pm and do not commence until around 6:30am the next day. We only experience road traffic intermittently on a morning when the village people are going to work and then returning at teatime. Otherwise the road is very quiet. Pitch 9 is at the top end of a 3 acre field and you would not be able to hear any road noise anyway. |

This was our fifth visit to this site. It is the best site in this area if you want peace and quiet. Large pitches on hard standing good facilities very friendly owners (Neil and Fiona)
They couldn't be more helpful. Great pub (Barnes Wallis) a five minute walk away lovely countryside with great walks. Train station a five minute walk away with links to York and Hull. Dog walk is a nice touch being an enclosed space. Toilet and shower block is kept spotlessly clean what more could you ask for. Going back in October and cant wait

An absolute jewel of a site if you like peace and quiet. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
Yes the site only has one shower but is spotlessly clean and we never had a problem queueing even when site was almost full.
The enclosed dog area is a godsend when you have several dogs.
Free range eggs when available.
A wonderful Indian restaurant in Howden which also does take away. Huge portions of food at the Barnes Wallis pub just up the road.
The only downside is the working farm next door and the cows mooing at 5am but you soon get used to it.
We too have booked to go again August Bank Holiday. It's a good base to have day trips from or a peaceful haven if you just want to chill. We cannot wait until we can go again.

Cannot believe we have found a little gem of a site at Brenda House. The walks we found directly from site were amazing so we cannot understand the review we read previously about how inconvenient it was to walk dogs from the site. Out of the site turn left 150 meters you are on quiet country lanes leading to several different walks over fields and through woods. Turn right from site there is a grass path all the way down to the Barnes Wallis Pub from there all the way into Howden is a cycle and walkway with country walks through fields all the way down on right hand side.
Site facilities are as described on the website and are spotlessly clean. There was help on hand at anytime from the site owners. We have already booked future weekends this year into the site and also the bank holiday in August.
