Thank you for a lovely stay on our Cycle tour. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The campsite is possibly one of the best I have ever stayed in: excellent facilities (decent, clean showers and toilets) also has a fridge-freezer for use if required. The view out across the Moor towards Glastonbury is stunning. It was also very quiet and peaceful. If you are anywhere near this area I would recommend it as a place to stay. Plenty to do round here too with Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury & Street shopping outlets. 10+/10.

Excellent small site in a superb location overlooking the Somerset levels. Reliable electric hook up with reasonable toilets and showers that are regularly cleaned. Shared fridge/freezer available at no extra cost. Dishwashing facilities would benefit from hot water.
The site itself is extremely quiet. The couple who manage it are sociable and genuinely friendly. All the guests are made to feel very welcome especially children. The 2 farm dogs (collies) have the run of the area with Rex in particular taking a friendly interest in the visitors.
Plenty of wildlife around - Foxes, Badgers, loads of birds and we even spotted an Otter sunbathing just around the corner.
We enjoyed a very quiet and relaxing break and would have no hesitation in going back.

Just returned from a week at castle farm. The views we had were Brilliant. The fridge/freezer was a bonus.
The campsite and toilets were always kept clean and tidy. The campsite was not far from supermarkets, beach and attractions.
It was nice to see the harrier jet, kids loved it!
Lots of wildlife around the site, rabbits and there babies, we saw a fox one night in the lane.
I would recommend this campsite

We have just returned from a great week away, Neil and Jo are great hosts so friendly, they make you feel so welcome.
The facilities are first class and the views are stunning, plus the alpacas and Neil's Harrier make your holiday stay absolutely great.
There was no rush to leave the site at a set time, perfect hosts.
We would recommend this to anyone that needs to relax and get away from it all.
And their dog ruby was gorgeous plus the very wide selection of wildlife, it was just perfect.

Just back from five nights on this site. I can only really echo what the other reviews have said; the site is superb, the owners incredibly friendly and the facilities good. The fridge/freezer was invaluable to us as our fridge broke (the owner happily disposed of it for us) and the weather was hot, hot, hot!
The shower was the best I have ever used on a campsite and you did not always need to put a pound into it (check the meter first), and the view from the tent was staggering.
Within twenty minutes from the site are some excellent attractions as listed on the info page on this site. Within an hour or so are the Fleet Air Arm Museum and Longleat Safari Park. I also went to a cricket match at Taunton with my son during our stay - only forty minutes away.
My only criticism of the site is the long grass - to me this seems much more common on sites than ever; I hate long grass and the wet feet it causes!
Ultimately, as a family of five we had a great time and will definitely return to this campsite ASAP.

We stayed at Castle Farm last year at Whitsun I believe and it was brilliant. We had previously stayed just up the road right near Cheddar but found that site a bit noisy. To say it was a bank holiday at Castle Farm it was very nicely busy but not crammed at all! when we arrived we were greeted by owners, lovely couple, and kids couldn't wait to see the plane and meet the Alpacas, who my daughter got to feed so she loved it :) the view is gorgeous across the fields to Glastonbury tor. What a site to wake up to and have your cuppa to! The hook up we had was fine, and the kids did make friends quickly with other kids on site as all tents basically face the Tor so you can see your kids at all times which we found very good. Showers were great, £1 a go but you get ages and sometimes as other reviews have said there is still enough in meter so check before you put your £1 in. Toilets were fine. Rubbish Bins were around plenty. The fridge etc for use is a great idea although we never used it as we have camp fridge. Only thing I wasn't so keen on was the pot washing area wasn't covered so if its raining you would be standing in the rain and there was no hot water tap! you had to wash your pots in cold water or boil your kettle and take it over to the area. But it IS camping!?? so I think for the price per night I am willing to over look that! The location is Fab, right in the middle of everything, we love a day out at Cheddar, Burnham on sea, Wells, Glastonbury. Such a beautiful part of the country! We never went to any pubs in the area on this stay but will do in future. The Sexeys Arms is a 25 minute walk I believe from campsite so shall be nice to try the place :) We loved that the site wasn't very big at all, we like a campsite to get away from the hustle and bustle and be in the country side and this is perfect for that. Going back in a few weeks and taking other family members in their own tent too so cannot wait!
All in All a friendly quiet site, Kids loved it, owners lovely, real farm feel, great price. One of those sites you want to rave about but don't want too many people knowing about either!

Excellent directions to site, narrow entrance if a bigger unit.
Hardstanding when the ground is wet. The water access point is hard to get at unless you have a really long hosepipe (if you have a motorhome).
Toilets excellent and showers have a meter but plenty of time for your money.
There is a pub up the road, which one could walk to, we didn't use it but it would be possible.
Owners of the site are very pleasant and ideal, sort of people who make you feel comfortable.
The Harrier is a lovely add on.
There a 3 alpacas in an adjacent field. There is a large field, where children could run free. Seemed to be a few public footpaths and had it not been so wet during our visit, then we would have ventured out more.
We will go again and highly recommended

We had a wonderful time here and will visit again! you cant possibly get any friendlier hosts who put themselves out to make sure you are comfortable!
The toilet and showers were kept spotless. The views are magnificent, right across the Somerset levels to Glastobury.
We saw so many different types of bird and other wildlife at close range on the levels which are really easy to get to by car or on foot just minutes from the site. Neil the owner has a real Harrier jump jet which he loves to show you around and tell the story of, and Jo has three alpacas, Jeffrey, Albert and Percy, who live right next to the site. Just up the lane is a goat farm, and its worth the five minute stroll just to watch them! The Sexey Arms, (yes, real name!)is a five minute drive or twenty minute walk for a meal or a drink, but a cold lager, or a rum and coke, whilst enjoying a BBQ and looking across miles of Somerset suits me well!Excellent site! We loved it!

We needed a local site to practise & test our new tent. Castle Farm seemed an ideal location due to it's price & locality. The decision was made easier once we'd read reviews & seen there was Alpacas & a Sea Harrier! The site facilities are basic but the location is outstanding. Perched on a little hill overlooking the Somerset levels with Glastonbury Tor on the horizon. Wells, Cheddar, Wookey Hole, Weston-s-Mare & Clarks Village at Street are all within a short drive.
The site itself consists of 2 fields both sitting adjacent to Jeffrey, Albert & Percy (the alpacas). At the bottom of the 1st larger field is the toilet block with showers (£1) and fridge freezer. The block is functional but basic. We were only on site for 1 night so didn't use the facilities a great deal. There are numerous EHU's in both fields.
We know the area very well & can recommend Cheddar Gorge & caves, Wookey hole, Weston-s-Mare (beach & grand pier), Wells (cathedral & Hot Fuzz film location), Clarks Village at Street, Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford & Glastonbury. For us though we loved the rural location, the wildlife & the lack of light & noise pollution.
Morrisons supermarket is in Glastonbury & we highly recommend Burns The Bread bakers in Glastonbury High Street too. For good family pub food The Bear Inn in Street is great value (2 main meals for £10 Monday to Friday).
Overall, a good site in a great location.

Spent a night here last weekend. Was an ideal location for visit Cheddar on the Saturday and Wookey Hole on the Sunday. Were treated to a wonderful morning view as Glastonbury Tor emerged out of the mist above the Somerset Levels.
Facilities were nice and clean. It is £1 for showers (which we didn't use on a one nighter) but given that it was only £12 for the 4 of us in a large tent I didn't think this was a major inconvenience.
Owners polite and helpful during booking process, and quite a nice feel to a relatively small site.
Dog fouling has been mentioned in previous reviews, and my son did discover one with his shoe, but was quickly cleaned. The alpacas entertained the children, as did the rabbits and cows in the next field. Will definitely consider this site next time we are in the area.
