We stopped here for one night on our way to the tunnel. Very warm greeting from the warden for whom nothing was to much trouble. Lovely site and great walks for the dog. Very quiet despite being fairly busy. Agree with previous reviews about the showers soaking everything in the room. This could be solved by putting a different shower head in which concentrate the water spray on the person rather than on the whole room. Would definitely stay again.

This is a site my wife and I regularly use. We love it for its laid back feel and relaxed atmosphere.
Brian & Helen the site wardens are brilliant and always go out of there way to help if you have any problems and make you feel very welcome.
The site has just had a new shower/toilet block built which is a vast improvement on the old porta loos which it had before. However, the design of the shower and toilet sharing the same cubicle, I feel, is not that good.
This site is great if you like walks and cycling as it is right on the North downs way, and is very dog friendly( there are woods adjacent to the site)
We love this place.

Great site. Great wardens. Lovely site. Spent a lot of weekends here and always get a great welcome. Nothing to much trouble, ideal for events at the showground. Kids all play together and are safe riding on there bikes. Lovely walks in the woods for dog owners and loads of room for tents caravans and motorhomes. Looking forward to our next stay

Revisited this year twice already and booked for a further stay, having stayed in a tent last year. The new washroom/toilet/washing up facilities are almost complete and must say they are a huge improvement on the old porta cabin. (Shame everything gets wet when you shower due to the wet room design).
What makes this site is the old fashioned feeling you get of the children being able to play and enjoy being children. The den building area is brilliant.
Brian and Helen the wardens go out of their way to make you feel welcome, they are easily the standard all wardens should try to achieve.
Highly recommend this site, albeit I hope the owners don't start getting greedy with price increases due to the new washing facilities.

Visited Scragged Oak for 4 nights last week. A very warm welcome from the wardens, Brian and Helen, both so very helpful, lending us their hammer for our awning pegs. A lovely site, toilets were a bit dark, showers were ok. Understand a new block of toilets and showers are being built. Would definitely return to such a great site.
Very quiet site, not much for children in the way of play area, but suited us as middle aged caravanners.

Last minute four day camping trip with my wife and four children. Brian the warden was great, took the booking on the day and was very helpful on our arrival, as was his wife.
As is mentioned previously the toilets and showers were basic, but we are told a whole new block is on the way for next year.
That aside the current ones were functional and kept clean. The site itself was brilliant. Loads of space, flat well kept pitches, hook ups if needed. Kids loved it, from building dens to walks in the woods and nearby fields with the dog. Plenty of other children for them to play with on bikes and scooters - kids paradise, with no electric gadgets to distract them.
Great location for both M2 and M20, short drive to places such as Maidstone, Whitstable and Canterbury.
Will definitely be returning, but for longer next time as the kids did not want to leave.

Excellent site, just back from our third stay and looking forward to our next one.
Wardens Helen and Brian are great always around for a chat and to help with anything should you need it.
The day we arrived it was raining Brian even helped us put up our awning so to get it done quicker to get out of the rain.
Toilets and showers OK with lots of hot water.
Lovely place to stay always so friendly

I stayed here in my folding camper over the busy Kent County Show weekend as I was working on the site and was very convenient for it. I was very impressed and will be using the site again for next years show.
I was met in the torrential rain by the warden who told me where to pitch. The site was fully booked but still very spacious.
There are plenty of water and waste points dotted around the site.
The showers were basic but functional with plenty of hot water. The toilets let the site down slightly as was dark and dingy and old. Could really do with a refurb and the block is outside the gate to the campsite. That said the toilets were being shared with all the horsey people from the show as the temporary stables were set up in the field at the campsite entrance.

Great site ideal for Detling showground, really peaceful, we have stayed here a few times for the weekend and always enjoy our stay and never want to leave.
The site wardens Helen and Brain are lovely always around for a chat or helping hand should you need it.
The toilets and showers are clean and always loads of hot water, there is also a washing up area if you need it.
Really cant fault this lovely little site and cant wait to go back there next weekend for the kent county show.

I stayed here with my three young Grandchildren over the bank holiday weekend. The site was very busy for the first two days, as one would expect over a bank holiday. I think the inclement weather drove many people away early on the Monday morning, as the site itself is absolutely great, with very friendly and helpful wardens. Due to unavoidable family circumstances I found myself in charge of 3 boisterous boys and ageing camper van on my own. As I am disabled, this was indeed a challenge. I need not have worried, as I felt very welcome and also well supported with my limited mobility problems throughout my 5 day stay. I felt sure the boys were safe on their bicycles due to the strict one way track system, and also the 'keep the gates shut' rule. There was plenty of space for them to explore, as the site is partially wooded. Children are also encouraged to build a den, in an area stocked with plenty of twigs and branches, supplied for that purpose. Despite the rain, the two older boys returned at tea time plastered in mud, very wet but extremely happy with their day and their building efforts. The wardens had kindly offered to keep an eye on them for me from their caravan. Of course, after that the hot showers were needed and the boys assured me they were 'brill'! The ladies were also very usable. Shower and toilet facilities are currently in separate blocks, but I was told that there are plans in to build new facilities, including disabled amenities. There is also an outdoor, but covered area to do your washing up. (I cannot personally vouch for it as I did not need to use it, but it looked clean and usable. ) There are plenty of handy water, waste water, CDU and rubbish disposal points dotted around the site. (This was a very nice change for me, from many sites that require a long walk to the only service area).
There are limited hard standings, but plenty of hookups around this lovely site. You are apparently free to choose a spot that takes your fancy, so there is no feeling of regimented lines of vans and tents. We chose to 'pitch' near the trees. Due to the weather, and not being on hard standing, I was very quickly offered help, on a very rainy morning, to become 'un-bogged down'. I was expertly towed out, and quickly back on the track.
If you want formality, discos and organised play parks, this is not the site for you. However, (as I hate that sort of site, ) I would thoroughly recommend this one, and definitely plan to return. Many thanks to those concerned for their friendliness, care and consideration of me.
