Pitched up here as it was close to the Kent show ground, where I wanted to visit a car show.
Apart from being ideal for that, the site turned out to be a charming, secluded and peaceful little gem. I will do my best to find another excuse to return.
The loos are basic and reminded me of camping when I was a kid in the late 60's and 70's. Perfectly adequate, but not posh. If you have a modern van, you will not even bother looking in.
Other reviews on here have made reference to the friendly nature of the wardens, and I can confirm I found the same.
It was refreshing to meet normal, ordinary people who are friendly and couldn't do enough for me, so thank you, you are recommended!

Very good site
Site was easy to find
Wardens were the happiest and friendliest ive seen before got up at 4 to open the gates so we could catch our ferry!
Can pitch where you like and plenty of space between pitches.
Didnt like shower block much as just had shower curtains to separate you from the other person but they were clean and loads of hot water.
Site I thought was good value at £12 a night

This site is about half an hour from where we live and is our site of choice for a quick get away. It is situated on top of the North Downs next to a small wood and is a perfect location for dog walking, rambling and cycling.
The warden is extremely friendly and helpful and always ready for a chat. He will gladly tell you the best pubs to eat in.
The site is suitable for tents as well as caravans and has pitches with or without electric hook up.
The site has very basic amenities, but as we do not use the toilets/showers cannot comment (although the showers do look clean).
We love this simple no frills site and recommend it to anyone wanting somewhere to stay that is on the North Downs yet close to Maidstone. It is also good for a stay prior to catching the ferry at Dover.

Helpful and friendly manager, nice site, adjacent woods for dog walks. Country park on opposite side of road site next to Kent showground ideal if attending a show. Convenient for all services Tesco about 3 miles town centre 5 miles.
Plans in hand to increase facilities toilets showers and to open all year. Mainly grass pitches but some hard standing planned 60 hook ups four waste points. If you don't want toilets and showers this site is a 1st class choice.
At £10 a night excellent value for money.

This site is well kept and run by Dave who is both helpful and polite.
The site is set on top of Detling Hill, 3 miles (6 mins) drive from the centre of Maidstone. Tesco is a 5 min drive away. The site is tagged onto the Kent County Showground, and planning permission in in motion to revamp the site with play areas, toilet shower blocks etc, however this will take time.
It is 2 miles from the M20.
The site had all grass pitches, with a choice of EHU points around the field. There is the opportunity to be centre stage, or simply set yourself back amongst the trees. My dog loved the walk in the woods which has gated access from the site.
There are no toilet facilities but there are 4 good waste, water, chemical points all within easy access. The site is clean and very tidy.
If you want a quiet, self sufficient break in beautiful surroundings, within the Garden of England, then this is great.
Price £10 Tourer with EHU
£5 Tent with EHU.
