Easter 2004 This was our second trip here and the changes in the past year were amazing. A brand new shop/office building has replaced the tatty old portacabin, and there are plans to build a little Cafe area at the back of the building, overlooking the camping field/kids play area. A lot of the pitches are now Super pitches with grey water waste point, tap and leccy all on hand. They have planted seral hundred new hedging plants along the road perimeter, which though not yet established will eventually be lovely. The Kids paly area, now has a new climbing frame and the second toilet block has now been totally refurbished. They have even put barriers in. I still think the pitches are a little close, but other than that, they have put a lot of hard work into upgrading the site over the winter and it has paid off. If you went a few years back and enjoyed it, go now and see the difference! Woody

August Bank Holiday Weekend 2003 We stayed at this campsite over the August Bank Holiday. It's very well situated for visiting many lovely places around and about, i.e, Lyndhurst and the New Forest, Lymington, Romsey, Winchester and Salisbury.
The toilet and shower block is spotlessly clean with what looked like brand new facilities. Shower rooms are large and nicely tiled and showers are free. We did have to queue though, but I suppose that's because it was a bank holiday. Extra portoloos were provided in the camping field as well.
As the person stated in the previous review (who incidently stayed the same weekend as us) the pitches were very small and cramped, particularly as they had to incorporate your car as well. When we arrived on the Thursday it was fine and there was only a few tents but by Friday tea time it was choc-a-bloc! I think too many tents were crammed in and it spoiled it a bit as you felt on top of each other.
Having said that though it was very quiet and all in all we enjoyed it.

August 23rd Bank holiday weekend This was a great site. Owners very friendly and laid back. great play area for younger children ours are 2.5 and 5 years old.
Very busy and they were trying a system of marking pitches out with defined area in camping field. You were expected to pitch tent and park car on your designated area. With an estate car and Aztec Palacio it was a little tight on space and you did feel a little on top of one another but that is probably the same anywhere on a Bank Holiday. Spotless toilet block and excellent showers. Nice pub within 20 min walk.

July 4th - 11th 2003 This is a great campsite to visit, quiet, rural, very well maintained and great value for money. We highly recommend it. It was very busy when we arrived and over the weekend but quietened down for the rest of the week, which meant there was a lot of space for ball games for the kids. The site has a new toilet block on the tent field and which was kept very clean and tidy. There were plenty of showers and they were clean and hot and the cubicles were a good size for showering the kids. The ladies also have cubicles for washing and changing. The washing up point was clean if not a little small. We had it to our selves most the week but in busy periods I can imagine its a squeeze, but tables are available by the entrance for drying up. Water and rubbish disposal poitns were well positioned around the field and the rubbish was collected frequently. The trampoline and play area proved a real hit with our kids, and can be seen from almost everywhere in the tent field which was really handy as the kids could just go off and play in eyeshot. The par 3, 9 hole golf course (in its early stages)also proved a great success with my husband and he managed to talk me into a couple of rounds. The shop is well stocked and offers fresh bread and pastries if you pre-order them. (We can reccommend the sausage and onion pasties!) The staff were welcoming and very helpful. We had a great rest here and will certainly be visiting again.

25-27 July 2003 We visited this site after a recommendation on the forum. We arrived at 8.00 Friday evening and were welcomed onto the site. It was extremely busy. A warden showed us to our pitch, unfortunately we nearly ran over a dog in the process! He was tied up inside a car and he leapt out of the window nearly under our wheels!
There are large marked out pitches. Ours was on a slight incline but not too bad.
Unfortunately the weather on Saturday was terrible and we hardly ventured out our tent. The on-site shop seems to stock all the necessities including bacon and eggs for that Sunday morning fryup (and warm croissants, yum!)
There were plenty of loos although they ran out of paper several times. I haven't been to many campsites to compare but I guess its best to take your own tissue with you just in case. There are 3 washing up sinks but they are quite crammed in, there isn't really a drying up area. But they are kept nice and clean.
All in all I would recommend this site. If you have kids (we don't) theres a pitch and putt nearby and trampolines which will keep them happy for hours.

July 2003 (4th-7th) Our very first camping experience proved to be a wonderful success. Geoff and the others were extremely friendly and helpful and the site itself was very well kept and maintained. The facilities are excellent and those showers blow you away!!! Our son had a marvellous time on the trampoline, the golf-course, and playing badminton and football on the pitches next to the golf-course. We had a relaxing time which flew past. We will definitely return as soon as we can and would recommend this site to anyone thinking of camping in Hampshire.

June 2003 This is a nice site and very friendly. Some pitches are on a very slight incline but nothing to worry about. Toilets\showers are very clean. 10 quid a night to camp and on the day of departure you have to be off site by 11.30am,or you can pay another fiver to stay till 6 in the evening, which is what we done. All in all a good weekend at a good site.Would i go back.... Yes definately.

easter 2003 This was only the second time we had taken out our new (to us) caravan. The jockey wheel bracket broke on arrival, and the placment was the tightest to enter on the site (Between two fir trees). The owner Geoff, and the site warden were fantasic, helping us sort out the wheel then getting their quad bike to place our caravan on it's pitch. The site was full to the brim and it is fair to say they do cram them in a bit. There are two fields, one level and one slighly sloping (wedges advisable). The facilities are superb, one brand new shower/toilet block and one just being completed after a major upgrade. The site is very clean and well kept. There is a small but well stocked little shop, stocking most things you would want. They also do excellent hot croisants, rolls and bread first thing every morning.Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even trying to fish the cap of my portapotti out of the emptying point!!! (Lesson one, place cap away from trap before emptying toilet!)We will definatly be returning to there and would not hesitate to reccomend it.Mark Woodward
