Amazing site. Close to Carbis Bay, St Ives and Hayle. Extremely helpful and friendly owner (Phil). Big fridges and a freezer for everyone to use. Washer, dryer, gas hob, toaster, plenty of washing up sinks. Showers and hot water always available.
Toilet blocks basic but great and cleaned daily. Plug sockets for charging phones or using shavers, straighteners etc. On site snack bar open at certain times daily. Rent a firepit. Buy firewood. It's by far the best site we have ever been to.
You definitely get the true friendly relaxing campsite feel. We will return for sure.

This is one of the best campsites I have visited in a long time. It feels like 'proper' basic camping - yet nothing we could have required was missing. The toilet, shower, washing up blocks were all clean and well maintained. The big communal fridges are a brilliant idea !
Run in a beautifully generous, relaxed but efficient way, the owner ( Phil) was around every morning and afternoon and friendly and helpful - yet without being intrusive. In fact we tried to pay him several times throughout the week and only managed to pay him on the final day!
The site is in easy walking distance of a good local shop, beach and railway station - while maintaining a feeling of being away from it all in a field.
I would definitely recommend this site - and will be coming back!

Great site. Travelled down with family from Gloucester and Suffolk without booking anywhere and found this site after the one we had originally looked at was mostly under water from our lovely British weather.
The owner came straight over and took us to our pitches, 3 tents for 7 nights. Great facilities, fridges, freezer, washing machine, microwave and hob even a toaster. Hot showers with plenty of water.
Toilets had plenty of loo roll a hair dryer and plug sockets. Everywhere was very clean. Very nice owner and helpful. We had an open fire every night. Quiet family site. Easy access to local amenities by car, bus or train or just walking or cycling.
Would recommend this site to anyone and look forward to returning. Good value for money, flat ground, electric hook up and farm chickens, loved it all, perfect.

Just returned from our second visit to this site. If you like a nice quiet smallish site, but one that has all the facilities necessary for a brilliant camping experience, this is for you. Phil - the owner - has created a very laid back atmosphere, great for young and old. He has loads of local knowledge too, recommending places to visit.
There was bags of hot water for pot washing or showering, big fridges and a freezer for campers to use, a washing machine and tumble dryer. Don't expect all the frills of a 'club' site, but do expect a friendly welcome, camp fires at night and camping as it used to be.
The beach is within walking distance of the site, about 15 mins, bus stop to st Ives 5 mins walk away and the train station 10 mins walk. There is a great fish and chip restaurant 10 mins walk away too.
Already talking about going back again next year.

We were in the St Ives area and needed somewhere to stay at short notice so having found Mount Douglas camp site via a Google search, I phoned and was told that there were pitches available and to just park up.
The campsite was great, lots of space, EHU if you wanted it, great views over the bay, and the facilities although basic, were better than you get at campsites where you would pay a lot more. Lots of hot water, fridges, and even a washing machine.
Was a 10-15 min walk to Carbis Bay and from here you can walk the coastal path to St Ives - another mile or so, of just catch the train which takes 5 mins. We stayed for just one night as we had to move on, but could easily have stayed a lot longer.

We have just been to this site for the second year and it is simply wonderful. With a family of six it is unbelievable to find such a great place, in a great location for just £29 per night.
As mentioned below the owner is brilliant, the showers and toilets are clean and it is a real bonus to have fridges to store milk etc. With laundry and electric charging facilities (no cost) we could easily have stated a lot longer than the 12 nights that we did. A real rarity is being able to have an open fire and that just makes such a special end to each day.
The beach at Carbis is around 15 mins away and St Ives is around 30 when walking. Trencrom Hill is just a mile away over the St Micheals Way and is well worth the climb to see the stunning views of both coasts. The St Michaels Way is brilliant off road path that is approx 7 miles down to St Michaels Mount, all easily runnable terrain and when you get there you can either run back or catch the 17 bus into Carbis Bay. There are some brilliant trails for runners with access to the SWCP only 5 mins away.
We will be back for more next year.

We have finally found the best campsite in St Ives, after visiting over the last 10 years and trying all the rest, we have now found the best. First of all, this is how a campsite should be, laid back, everyone relaxed and enjoying themselves. Spectacular beach, 10-15 mins walk downhill at Carbis Bay, the walk back is steep.
Carbis bay train station is also here, one stop away from St Ives, and very reasonable ticket prices. Costcutter, also 10 min walk from site, and a nice little Italian / pub 15 min from site. Site price for us was £16 a night which was for electric pitch, two people, dog and car. The showers are free and impeccably clean, with hot water available at all times.
There is use of on-site freezer and fridges and, if you don't opt for electric pitch, electric points in facilities are available to charge your phones etc. Indoor and outdoor washing up areas and small fee launderette style washing machine and tumble drier also available. Owner (Phil) very friendly, laid back and very knowledgable of local areas, we felt privileged to have met him.
Our stay here couldn't be made anymore perfect and we will be back next year, guaranteed.

Well what can we say fantastic family friendly campsite. We had 3 days here and loved it. This site is great if you have young children as there are fridges to store milk and food.
Showers were more than adequate and there is Andrex toilet paper! The owner was great and had the perfect attitude for a campsite he made us feel very welcome.
The fire at night was added to the whole experience. Although the site is 7 hours from where we live we will certainly be going again!

What a gem of a campsite! We stayed here for 10 nights and loved every minute of it. It is camping as it should be with no restrictive site rules and regulations. You have all you need on site from free hot showers, ample washing up sinks, and fab large fridges and a freezer at your disposal, you can even charge your mobile phone if you do not have a hook up.
There is no reception or shop so you just pull up and pitch and the owner will catch up with you at some point, also Tescos is only a 5 minute drive away for the essentials.
The view from our tent was fab and there was loads of space for our very large tent and even bigger shelter dome. You can have a campfire and a lot of people make the most of this creating a really nice vibe at night. Everyone we met were very friendly and a very nice touch is the owner pops round in the evening to wish you a good night.
We found Carbis bay beach excellent for young children with every facility you could want, toilets, cafe etc. The only thing to watch out for is the parking is very expensive, so if you can handle the steep hill back up from the beach you can easily walk to it from the campsite.
We will definitely be back and would like to thank the owner for creating such a chilled out place to camp :-)

As a young couple we stayed at Mount douglas Farm for our 8 night summer holiday. First impressions were ideal for us and open field and pitch where you like, great! so we did and everyone else did the same carrying out the usual campsite etiquette, not too close not too random etc. Then we met the owner and extremely welcoming chap with lots of local knowledge to help anyone out and more than willing!
The facilities were spot on for us clean toilet block and showers in porta-cabin style buildings. None of the polished tiles like you get in a holiday/caravan park, but that's not what we want. We cycled and walked most places, 10 mins to the train, 5 to the bus to get you anywhere you want. A walk to the centre of st ives only took 25 mins tops! the chippy is only 10 mins walk from the campsite too. We were there peak season and it was busy and the bins filled up rather fast but not enough people were sorting their recycling out which would have made it easier.
There was also a washing machine and microwave available too. To top it all off plenty of fridge and freezer space to keep your beers cool for your BBQ or campfire which you can place where you like. To finish off the price for 2adults with a tent was only £14, amazing as anywhere else we've been its hard to get anything under £20
A great place! Thank you.
