Stayed here for a weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. The warden Gary was friendly and helpful when we arrived, as were all the staff we encountered during our stay.
The site is set in the grounds of kelham hall which has a bar and a café, we had sunday lunch which we both enjoyed and for 6. 50 was reasonable. The hall itself is an impressive building, with enjoyable wooded walks around the grounds. We both showered in the van so cant comment on the showers which are situated in the main building, the toilets also in the main building were very clean but dated, I believe a new shower block is coming soon.
Fishing on the trent is available for 10 pounds dawn till dusk, fished on the Saturday had a great day, the fishing here is awesome if the rivers right.
As a new site this place will only get better as time passes, a smile goes along way in our book when dealing with people and my wife said that all the staff were lovely. We have booked to return in august.

What a shambles!
Terrible organisation only one person siting people. No defined pitches, people just pitched all over the place. Treated like second class citizens because of wedding function also being on. Only one water tap. 160 units over BH weekend only 2 temp toilet blocks. By monday morning I was heaving from the stench and no running water for hand washing. £19. 50 per night v expensive for what you get.
Beautiful setting but wouldn't recommend if you need their facilities. Sunday lunch was a winner!

Have just returned from Kelham Hall and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. We were searching for a weekend break and after a bucket load of refusals due to full sites I stumbled on Kelham Hall. I was a bit dubious due to the reviews however time was pressing and our alternatives were limited to say the least. Booking in went smoothly and we were told that they had limited EHU but to pick which were free. We were met by members of staff who could not do enough for us. It was obvious that this is a new venture and the supply of EHU extension leads supported this. The pitch however was very flat and large enough for all our needs. There is only 1 water point and Elsen which is a bit of a bind. The grounds to the Hall are superb with excellent wildlife trails and open areas for sport. There are even 3 Tennis courts available. OK now the biggest negative, the showers are gender communal which was great in my footballing days however It seemed, it did seem a problem for some. Although I must say the water was hot and plentiful. On reflection we thoroughly enjoyed are stay here, and with the promise of a new toilet block will definitely mean that we will return. However keep it quite because this will be a little gem.

We have never camped before but we bought a tent last year and this was the first opportunity we had to use it. Because it was the first time, we decided not to go too far from home. What a gem. Admittedly, because the site is only just starting out, there were a few things that need sorting. Like the communal showers. They were pretty clean but it was obviously an old football teams' changing room. Fortunately, I timed my showers well. Would benefit from a large sink with hot water for washing-up and a large mirror in the shower/changing room with a olug socket. However, they really were the only negatives for us here and they did not ruin our stay at all. Lovely setting. It's definitely going to be a hit. I imagine by this time next year the site will be heaving. We will be returning. My boys loved it!

We visited this site on the first weekend they were open.
As this is a new venture there are some things which need ironing out, primarily the toilets/showers which at the moment are the old sports changing facilities. As such there is no privacy in the showers but that didn't seem to bother the people using them. The staff did tell us that they are planning to build a new toilet block and provide a washing up area, along with more electric points.
Pitches are level and not regimented which we like and there is a very laid back feeling to the whole place.
The parkland is lovely and there is a nice walk along the river bank, at the right time of year fishing will be possible.
There was a small amount of road noise but apart from the odd motorbike doing 'stupid mph' it wasn't intrusive.
Newark is about two miles away with all the necessary shops etc.
All being well we will definitely be back.

We stopped at Kelham Hall for an overnight. We paid £12. 50 for the night in a non electric pitch which was great.
We parked near the toilet and showers as both my husband and myself are disabled and was asked to move as they had a wedding the next day and they used this for extra parking.
The showers and toilet blocks leave a lot to be desired and quite frankly need a whole refurbishment
The Childrens Play area was unsafe.
We asked about the Restaurant and was told that it was closed but the Café Bar was selling snacks.
We awoke to the sound of a banging drum and everyone out to see what was going on. This was the wedding that was scheduled.
If anyone is planning to go to Kelham Hall in future and you want a long lie or even a wee lie in then make sure you check if they are holding a Wedding before you book!

We found this campsite last minute as all the popular ones were fully booked. Its lovely! We took our kids (8 & 14)and they really enjoyed it here, there was a trail you could follow on the grounds and trees that could be climbed, The hall itself is beautiful and you can walk around it at your free will, The staff were all very nice and showed us around as soon as we got there, There were 2 bars that you could use but we took our own booze so didn't need to as to be honest was probably pricey. There were weddings held at the hall too. The toilets were in the hall itself a block just outside the main reception and then some actually in the main building which had to be used after 9pm as the outside ones shut at 9pm. It was about a 4 minute walk to the hall from our tent but we were the furthest away on the field (by choice) you could choose where you wanted to pitch up if you didn't need hook ups. We had great weather and on the bank holiday monday there was various singers on for the fun day they held (all free) bouncy castles large ground games cake stands burger bar. The grounds themselves are lovely and there is a small church there which was interesting to have a look round and the river trent runs to the back of the hall. There's a pub about a 7 minute walk from the main gates called the Fox we ate there and it was lovely. We would go here again as it was so enjoyable. Well done Kelham Hall a camping trip we will remember :)

Wow, what a find. We called around about 25 campsites on Thursday night to try to get a 2 night stay for that weekend and this was the only one we found. Because of this we didn't expect much but OMG what an absolute gem of a site. It is very new and so doesn't have any washing up facilities but it had lovely toilets and showers and electric hook up. There is a canteen serving from 8-6 and also a bar! We took our dog with us and there is a lovely walk. The prices are really cheap and the field is in the grounds of a gorgeous country hall. The weekend we were there a wedding reception was being held and it was absolutely gorgeous! I am so looking forward to booking this place again and hope that is hasn't got so popular that we can't get in!
