This is a lovely campsite, the grounds are meticulously maintained and although the shower block may not be the newest, it is kept exceptionally clean and is very well looked after, with plenty of hot water whenever we needed it.

The no noise policy was really appreciated, it helped make our holiday even more relaxing. If you want to be able to party late into the night, then this site isn't for you. But if you want peace and quiet you will be pushed to find better.

Mark and Linda provide breakfast if required, from fresh croissant through to a full English (take your own plate!) and very tasty it is too.

We didn't get to the beach as our elderly dog couldn't cope with the access, but the site is close to many other beautiful beaches such as at Porthleven. The site is also close to the Cornwall coastal footpath.

We enjoyed it - we've already booked again for next year!

This is the second year running that my sister and I have visited this site and we have booked again for next summer, that is how highly we rate it.
The site is beautiful and overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Tents are pitched amongst the flowers as it is like a garden. Mark and Linda, the site's owners, take pride in their site and it is a joy to pitch your tent and sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.
Toilet /shower block is immaculate and no matter what time of day you go, water is always hot and showers are free.
There is a family shower room, big washing area and a launderette although we have never used this.
There is a small children's playground but it is away from the tents and will not cause a problem with noise.
There is a strict no noise after 10pm rule and it is adhered to and one of the reasons we chose this site. There are no noisy groups and the site retains its peace and calm at all times of day and night.
The security on the site is good.
Linda knows exactly who is on site at all times and once ordered off a group who had 'pulled in' to use the shower facilities.
Freezer blocks are free to freeze and Linda prepares breakfasts and snacks/meals in the morning and evening.
You can take your own plate and she will fill it with a full breakfast for you if you wish. This does tend to be a bit expensive and we always did our own or went into Penzance and had a big Wethersoons breakfast on the only day it was raining.
There are 9 free standing mobile homes which you can book if you prefer this type of 'camping' and whenever we have been, they seem to be really popular.
The pitches are not exactly level, nothing to panic about and after the first night or so you don't notice it at all, but the first night you do.
The campsite has its own beach but you have to use the steps (used to be a rope!) to get to it or walk the longer way round. There is no vehicle access to it.
Once on the beach it is well worth it. The Cornish wind sails above the cliffs and it's like a mini oven down on the beach.
The site is situated just off the main road in between Penzance and Helston.
There is easy access - a straight road down into Penzance where parking is easy if you get there early morning, takes about 10 mins.
Helston is a busy little Cornish town with perhaps the most famous 'real ale' pub in the world in the 'Blue Anchor'
Kenneggy Cove is 5 mins away from the beautiful Praa sands and if you are a cricketing enthusiast you can visit Chris Old's (Famous Yorkshire Bowler) place on the hiltop and sample beautiful home made scones in a Cornish cream tea.
Situated nearby is Porthlevin again easy to get to and to park if you get there early enough, in fact the site is so well situated for just about everything in Cornwall Newquay, the Lizard, Land's End, Hayle, St Ives etc.
A super pub and great beer garden is across the road 10 mins walk down a back lane and the do home made meals, real ales and superb cider.
I can't recommend this site highly enough.

Lynda rescued us from another campsite, and to be honest, she saved our only family camping holiday this year. Now, to the facts:

The site is quiet. VERY quiet. If you want a noisy site with a buzz, forget it, this place is for peaceaholics only. Wonderful. Sadly, the actions of a few selfish dog owners spoilt the tranquillity somewhat, but as most of the dog owners were responsible, do not be put off.

The site is clean, that means all of it. No rubbish, no mud, no mess, no rubbish bags split open, no bottles, no hairy showers or stained sinks and bowls. The block smelled fresh and were kept clean at all times. Even the mowers picked up behind them, so you don't get grass trodden in the tent by everyone.

The beach is accessed by a wild path through the heath of the cliff-side walk. You now have the luxury of a council built walkway to ease the passage to the beach, but be prepared, if you hate heights or are at all wobbly on your feet, you'll be scared. The result of conquering your fears will be richly rewarded by a clean beach, that is protected from the Northerly wind by the cliffs. High tide sees the whole beach move up to the rocks and chat for an hour or two whilst the Dads and children build a sand sea wall to hold back the turning tide. It really is a return to old values, and pleasant times. I fished off the sands and waist deep in the sea which is ideal for younger swimmers as it has a very shallow drop off. There are rock pools and paths to keep young and old amazed and interested for a whole week. Be warned though, dogs are not policed on the beach, and we had a couple of experiences where a dog owner has let an over excited and out of control dog bark for hours on end, and jump up at our 5 year old. This warning should aply to all beaches that allow dogs though, not just the camp site review you are reading now.

So, to sum up, you will love it at this site. Avoid the big parks and give Linda your booking, it will be a holiday you will cherish forever.

After reading the rave reviews of this campsite we were fantastically disappointed when we arrived.  Far too many pitches crammed into a small space; the 'panoramic sea view' was only visible if you stood on tiptoe and peered through the hedge (which you couldn't get anywhere near as there were too many tents in the way!)

The no noise policy at 10 o clock was good, but how about those of us that want peace and quiet during the day?  Maybe as well as a noise policy and a bbq lighting policy, a policy that involves the dozens of children playing only in the large play area, rather than running around the tents screaming, would be good.

The shower and toilet block was very clean, however the fact that hot water was only available at certain times of the day put a dampner on this.

Added to thses facts, this site was one of the most expensive we have stayed in and the owner was particularly unfriendly the only time we spoke to them - we definitely won't be returning!

Anyone staying on this beautifully kept site is in for a treat. The site overlooks the sea and is only 10 minutes from the coastal path with glorious walks in both directions. We are looking forward to our next visit already! Linda and Mark are very friendly and helpful.

Lovely site. Facilities were amongst the best I have seen & fresh baked bread in the mornings was delicious! The owners obviously pride themselves on providing a quiet, scenic and well-maintained site and obviously get a lot of people returning year after year. The downside of which is that in order to get served in the shop, you have to wait for an awful lot of chatting to those before you in the queue! But overall I would fully support the positive comments in earlier reviews.

Only gripes:
- non-serviced touring pitches are not as level as they try to make out. This was alright whilst the site was relatively quiet as we were able to pitch our family tent diagonally across two pitches to make the best compromise with the slope. But in busy periods it could be annoying for those with tents.
- the site leaflet advertises access to the nearby beach, but we were not told that the path to the beach is officially closed (by the council) as it is hazardous. A warning from the owner would have saved us trailing baby & beach stuff down the hill to the cliff top and back! You probably could still climb down to the beach if you wanted to but not with a baby.

Other than that, a beautiful site to which we would be happy to return.

We stumbled upon this site quite a few years ago and its still as lovely now! Toilets and showers are kept nice n clean, landscaping well maintained, small shop if you've forgotten anything
-they have a takeaway too.S upermarkets nearby in Penzance. Smashing walks from the campsite along the coastal path, just gotta be careful going down and coming up that rope to the beach! We'll be back soon!
All in all a beautiful part of Cornwall and a site that you'll want to return to. Our last visit was in August 2004.

We have been coming to Cornwall for 30 years, staying on various sites - until we found this one! We happened upon it in 2002 and now have no need to try any others. We come three times a year - in the busy season and the off season and the standards and service are alwaus of the highest quality (unlike some where everything goes to pot when they're full!).

The toilets and showers are the cleanest we have ever seen (complete with fresh flowers and washing up liquid!). The only complaint about the showers is that on returning home one year we had to install a power shower as ours did not match up! The grounds are a passion of the owners who treat the site as a garden. You do no pitch on a field, but on a lawn - I kid you not! The takeaway service is unique in that it provides home-cooked food which is excellent - we diet in between visits to take advantage of a full English every morning (you bring your own plate and take it away!) or you can have continental breakfast - croissants and baguettes and coffee. Our favourite evening meal is Linda's Bombay Chicken Curry!

The resident owners can't do enough for you - but a word of warning - there is a policy of no noise after 10 which they're very strict on - hallelujah! So don't come if you want bars, entertainment or a noisy social life until midnight! Echoing the sentiments of the other reviewers, the views from the site are amazing - especially from the laundry and the children's play area!

Kenneggy sands, which is reached via a footpath from the site, is breathtaking - but you do have to be able bodied to get there. It's so worth the effort though - it must be one of the last undiscovered beaches in Cornwall - no vehicle access, no ice cream stalls, shops or buildings - just unadulterated beauty! The site is perfectly placed to visit the razzamatazz of St. Ives (20 mins), Penzance etc, and provides a peaceful "home" to come back to at the end of the day. If you love nature, sand, surf and peace and quiet then you'll love this site - can't recommend it highly enough!

Loved the no noise after ten / before eight policy, and the facilities were very clean. Great location and everything, but nothing outstanding relative to the many other campsites in the area, especially the toilet block, which, as someone pointed out in 2000, needs updating. I got dripped on many a time in the rain in the loo as water came through the corrugated roofing sheets. It was also the most expensive site we stayed on in the whole month, and the only one we won't be going back to next year! We didn't really have chance to chat to the owners after being given our strict instructions on when to be quiet, how to light a BBQ etc. On the first day, so can't really say whether they were friendly or not.
Went after reading the reviews here, and had to write and be Devil's Advocate really!

Clean, quiet and with lovely views Just one slight criticism- it would be nice to be able to use the taps as grown ups - the measured burst of very hot water at high pressure meant dishwashing was done standing sideways to the sink at a distance of 2 feet! We did not investigate the access to the cove as the sign said dangerous- perhaps the site web page should state this?
