Lovely little campsite in a really good location. Just a short drive from the main road but surprisingly not much noise from the road. The site is an ideal size and laid out really well with well identified individual pitches.

The toilet blocks were always clean and always a supply of toilet roll. One of the rules was to nip out your shower after use and there was a mop and bucket there to use. There was a disabled/ baby changing but it was out of order for most of the weekend, one criticism would be that there wasn't anywhere suitable to shower or bath my son, he is only 10 months old and it was a bit of a faff having to bring him in the shower with me on my own.

The playground outside the shower block was good fun. The games room behind reception was really big with plenty of games but you had to pay for all the games so could get expensive if you have children wanting to use it all weekend.

Overall an excellent site and we will definitely be visiting again.

This is the 2nd time I have stayed here, my first visit was a 2 night stop last year on the way back from Portsmouth. Well laid out site, immaculate pitches, well lit at night but not invasive.

Everything about this site is brilliant. The shower blocks are immaculate, there is a laundry room which also has wash up facilities for campers. There is a small freezer to freeze ice packs in the shower block. There is a kids play area at the front of the shower blocks with a few different things for the kids to play on, and also at the side of the touring pitch a football field with goals set up. There is a games room at the back of the office, which has a few things for the kids to keep themselves amused and a vending machine for sweets/drinks. The reception is full of local information and there is a well stocked shop with milk, caravan/tent spares and 'bits and bobs' as well as wee toys for the kids all at good prices.

The staff live on site, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The site has a clear set of guidelines, which are spot on and the wardens do a walk round at night to ensure that the quiet time is adhered to which is appreciated as not all campsites bother with this. Its an ideal location to explore York and the surrounding areas, as another reviewer mentioned the park and ride is excellent only 5 mins away. If you like fresh coffee there is a machine in reception, or McDonalds is 5 mins down the road open 24 hours. The park is dog friendly and there is a specified dog bin at the entrance to the park for their 'deposits' The chemical toilets are the best I have seen and are located next to the touring field. There is also a hard standing base for Motorhomes to fill up and empty their clean and brown water tanks. The site is still work in progress, but you would never know as they do all their work off season when the park is closed so there is no disruption to the paying visitors. They also encourage re-cycling in the park with various bins for card, glass, cans and landfill.

The Nags head Pub is a short drive away and the food is really nice, there is also a small Tesco, Chinese and a Flaming Grill Pub a few mins drive away as well. There is no pub on site which does not bother us as all as happy to sit out with a glass of wine and enjoy the ambience of the park.

There is a lot of wildlife if you are out and about early hours or late at night, rabbits frequent the football field once the kiddes have left for the evening, I saw an Owl at dusk, and lots of healthy wood pidgeons. Frogs or toads, hedgehogs and a small lizard thing were also spotted at night.

If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, well laid out site with amazing staff, awesome facilities and close to York, this is for you. It's a hidden gem and I have already booked for next year! Big thanks to Nicola and the team for once again being excellent hosts and working hard all hours to keep this wee site as good as it is.

Spent 10 nights here. Nice level pitches clearly marked out by low shrubs.

Campsite very handy for city of York and surrounding area. Clean and tidy. Never a queue for the showers or loos which were always very clean with plenty of hot water.

Busy at weekends but no issues with noise.

Main York bypass is nearby however noise from it isn't intrusive with only a little noise at morning and evening rush hours.

Site could possibly benefit from a second washing machine but management state there are plans to improve toilet and washing facilities in near future.

Reasonable charges considering good location and would visit again

We have stayed at The Nurseries for a week in June for the last two years and would recommend it, the site is very quiet and is well positioned. The facilities are good, and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The site is situated on the outskirts of York and is just a short ride to the centre by bus. There are a couple of good pubs a short walk from the site and plenty of places to visit in the area.

This is a very pleasant site to stay on. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The site is suitable for families and adults alone. The facilities were all very clean. We had a lovely meal in the Nags Head Inn. Visiting York, Thirsk and Scarborough were good days out. The Eden Camp in Moultan was worth a visit and dogs are welcome too. A lovely holiday was had by our two parties and we would recommend the site to anyone with a caravan or tent.

Just got home after a great break on this site, fantastic owners and very friendly, nothing seems too much and are on site 24/7,

The site although still having work done due to the exceptional wet weather they have had in York is a great site and in time be a stunning looking site, we can only imagine what it will look like with leaves on the trees in summer,

Toilet and shower block is always clean and heated, loads of hot water and great showers,

There is a games room it was good to use with our son aged 11,

Only niggle we can find I suppose was the road noise, although was faint at night when all is quiet and relaxed you can hear the odd loud exhaust, this is being very picky and when trees in full bloom it would probably stop this, did not say anything thing to owners as its not there fault and nothing they can do,

Would highly recommend this site if going to York, 5 mins drive from park and ride with busses every 10 mins and costing £2. 60 return for adults, kids go free. Take away food with in 15 mins and would probably deliver, also a fish and chip shop locally which gives so much food it's hard to eat it.

We will return to the site hopefully this summer.

Friendly welcome, short drive to a major supermarket and park and ride into York (recommended). Shower and toilets blocks are great with laundry facilities. Lots of trees and grass, really nice. No privacy between pitches, but there are different touring sections, including seasonal pitches. The park was less than half full when we were there, so slightly confused when they plonked a small campervan right next to us! Small shop on site and a games room around the back.

What a gem of a place. The owners are very kind helpful and accommodating. They will try their best to help with late stays etc. Will be returning again in October.

Very close to shops in Acomb, which have takeaways banks butchers grocer etc, large morrisons and tesco near by ( 5-10 mins by car). Lots of places to cycle.

Very nice and definitely recommend

Site and amenities only one year old so lovely clean and new.

Very nice site, clean toilets, good showers with plenty of hot water. Well stocked shop, very helpful and pleasant staff.

Site is easy to find, not far off main roads. Access to York via the park and ride at Askham Bar is straightforward, cheap and quick.

Very good value as we benefited from a 3 nights for the price of 2 offer

All in all we had a very pleasant stay
