We booked this site after looking at the web site and reviews and found it to be exactly as described. We stayed over the easter bank hols and totally enjoyed our stay from the moment we checked in to leaving. The site is well laid out in woodland area with good pitches and the facilities are really nice. As the site only opened last summer there are a lot of improvements being made by the owners which when finished will be one of the best sites in the York area. The site is really good for kids with games room, football pitch and swings. Would not think twice about recommending this site and already planning to stay again. There are various park n rides close by. Keep up the good work and improvements and hope to return before too long. Sandra and Tony

We stayed here for 6 nights over the October half term. We arrived in the dark but to a warm welcome and were shown to our pitch by Duncan. The toilets are clean and spacious, plenty of hot water and the showers are free, there's also a free hairdryer. There is a problem at the moment with the showers draining but the owners are aware of this and intend to rectify it over the closed season. The toilet block also houses a laundry / washing up area and a disabled toilet / baby change.
The grass was damp whilst we were there but the owners towed anyone off who was struggling, I believe they intend to put hardstandings in over the winter and an access road.
Nicola was very helpful and forthcoming with any information we needed. The site was near to two park and rides however we'd taken our bikes and found the ride into York straighforward with no hills. There's a myriad of cycle routes from the site and around York, we cycled to Selby and back one day, and around York another day, both routes had no hills. Whitby is also within driving distance and is well worth a visit.
The only problem we found was road noise early in the morning during the week but this wouldn't put us off returning and I understand planting will be ongoing to provide more screening to reduce this.
TV reception wasn't a problem, neither were the electrics.
We loved this site and will look forward to returning again next year.

We stayed here for 2 nights in beautiful surroundings. The owners were very welcoming and available if needed.
The toilets and showers were immaculate with constant hot water. Plenty of showers and toilets available in each block. There is washing, drying, ironing and washing up facilities. There is a shop in reception selling basic essentials.
The Naggs Head in Askham Bryan is less than 1 mile away, has a friendly atmosphere and served excellent food.
The site is ideally located near Askham Bar park and ride for visits into York city centre.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and will definitely be visiting again.

from booking to leaving was really pleasant, nicola greeted us shown us the pitches and the fascilites, made us feel very welcome, made us aware of bus stops and the pub. Plenty of brochures in the office also stocked food milk bread etc, and other supplies. The pitches nice large open area surrounded by trees got a tv picture in a few mins just pointed ariel down the site, felt very pleasant the toilet block etc. Was really nice clean, power showers was lovely. There was washer and drier which will be pay as you use at a later date. Also a iron, indoor washing up. Pub was 25mins walk for us as we walk pretty slow. Bus to york 15mins away. Although found a bus passed the site about 9. 00am and dropped you off at the site this came back from york at 3. 30 pm. Lots to do in york for everyone rail museum being our favourite, dungeon was very good look for discount in brochure what nicola gave us save £15. 00 2 for one. Ideal stop over site as it is not far of a1
only one problem. We only booked on for 3nts as we had prebooked somewhere else nr hull. We were really sorry we had to leave this lovely site with lovely pleasant owners I'm sure we will return. Terry and gail

This is a new site which is well managed and maintained by the young owners.
The pitch we were allocated was extremely spacious with plenty of room for our children to play, the football pitch also went down well!
The toilet block is constantly cleaned and re-stocked with essentials. The showers are hot, powerful and free! The only slight problem at present is that the shower floor does not drain properly however, the owners state they have this at the top of their list of 'things to do' therefore I am sure this will be addressed in the very near future.
The washing up area is indoors and in the same area there is an iron/ironing board (50p to use), washing machine (£1 for 90 mins) and tumble drier (20p for approx. 10mins).
The village of Askham is lovely and we would recommend the village pub for meals.
There are plenty of supermarkets close by and a variety of take-away shops
We really cannot fault this site and will definitely return.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the site over a very busy Bank holiday weekend. The site was full with both tents and vans which were intermingled together. However with the layout of the site and the lovely large grass pitches surrounded by trees you wouldn't have realised. Its fantastic location 3 miles out of York is another great benefit.
The site was friendly and nothing was too much trouble for the owners, even offering to help position our van if we needed it. The toilet facilities were clean and had recently been upgraded, also available were washing machines and a good washing up area from campers.
Having two older teenagers with us, they enjoyed the football field and nets. I believe in the future there will be a games room added.
I'd recommend this site to anyone and can't wait to return shortly.

We have just returned from a lovely 6 night stay at this brand new site. It is run by young enthusiastic owners who were extremely friendly and helpful who at present live on site in a static caravan.
Booking in was easy, we were given a choice of pitches in a lovely grassed area surrounded by mature trees which was very peaceful.
Facilities were brand new, showers were good (and not the push button type), hairdryer also provided. Two indoor washing up sinks, and a pay to use washer, drier and iron. Reception sold basic camping/shopping items and had tourist information leaflets.
Pub was one mile away from site serving food. Park and ride to York was about 2 miles away near a very large Tesco Extra superstore.
Large play field for children with goal nets and picnic benches. Playground equipment/games room planned for next year.
Highly recommended site.

Just returned from a very relaxing 3 night stay at this new site, Nice average sized site surrounded by trees giving it a very private feeling in a good location to york, well run by very nice and helpful young couple ohw work hard to keep the site facilities in a first class condition(toilets and showers clean, and rest of the site clean and tidy)site set out in well sheltered areas which is good for family groups if booked in advance could be all together in one area. Pub 1 mile away but 5 min drive gets you to a tesco express and beefeater pub next to chip shop and various take away outlets, we will be visiting this site.

Well, where to start? This was a last minute booking for a two night stay for me and my partner. The site had only been open for a week before we arrived and we were met on arrival by the owners who are very friendly and helpful. They showed us to the field and allowed us to chose our own pitch. The location was perfect, plenty of trees for privacy if you wanted but also open field for those that prefer more space. The shower and toilet block were spotlessly clean. The showers were fantastic with a power shower, hot water and free. The pot wash area was indoors and again clean, with a washer and a dryer free to use. The reception area was also the on site shop selling essentials you may have forgotten.
The owners left us alone to enjoy our stay but were available should we have needed them. Askham Bryan is a small village with only a pub (which we didn't get chance to visit). Buses run regularly from the village to York centre.
This site is a little gem and we will sure to be visiting again very soon.
