Arrived only to be told the warden was off for the day, and to park on our dedicated pitch. None of the pitches were marked very well, and it looked like free for all! The staff in reception weren't the slighest bothered and told us to pitch were we could.

The beach is brilliant and lovely, less than 3 minute walk from the site. Unfortunately, the club house, swimming pool and shops are all over the over side of the park, nearer the statics.

There's 4 toilets for the whole touring guests ( for ladies, so I guess the men have the same amount) of which 2 were out of order. The bins in the toilet block were overflowing, and were clearly not cleaned regularly. The toilet and shower floors were always flooded, and wooden boards were put down over the mud. The waste disposal. Well.Lets just not go there!

In the clubhouse, you could not tell the staff from the guests, until on one of the days, they were due a visit from one of the head guys. And on this day, everyone was in uniform, roads being swept, passes asked for on the gate. Etc. Amazing what a visit from the governor does!

It seems obvious that the park is more concerned about the guests staying in the statics rather than the tourers. The town and surroundings are lovely, and theres some nice little places to visit. The beach is a must, and we had great fun camping out in the dunes with the kids and dog. This is ideal for a long weekend away, with not too far to travel. Beach is a must to go back for. Apparently they have done some improvements since last summer. So we shall see. Not ideal for a week, struggled with keeping the older kids occupied during the day. Ideal if you have caravan with end bathroom and no need to use theirs.

This was our first trip away in the old VW 1976 Campervan we purchased in August. At just £6.00 a night it was fantastic value! We stayed for 2 nights. Our arrival was marred by finding out that once we had booked in and set up to find out that the whole village and camp site was blacked out by a power cut - rather miffed they didnt mention it in reception on booking in! This lasted for quite some hours. But friendly campers soon came over to inform us when they saw us plugging into the electrics. The toilet blocks were adequate and clean although we were told the site had been flooded recently. The showers were hot and clean and the dishwashing area was ok. Quite hard to dispose of the chemical waste which you had to lift onto a stainless steel outside loo which did not flush and had my husband gagging.
The swimming pool was great, especially the rapids area, the two of us had it all to ourselves watched over by three life guards! The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and varied - not wonderful but ok. We didnt try the take away but it seemed very popular.
The entertainment was aimed at families but we enjoyed it. The beer was reasonably priced with two bar areas to choose from. The beach goes on for miles and is perfect for a long sea walk. The tourer site is behind reception and so is close to the sea but is a short walk to the entertainment and swimming complex so needs a torch at night.
We would definitely return to this well run site it was perfect for our first outing!

We have just returned from a night away at this site, but would not return.

When we arrived (11. 45am) we were told we could not pitch up until 1pm, but after speaking to the warden we were told to ignore reception and pitch anyway which was great.

We went into the toilets and found them to be dirty, but knew they would be cleaned at some point.

Apparantly not, at 8. 00am next morning the warden had just finished cleaning them when we got there & we found the toilets exaclty the same way as the day before!. The toilets themselves had not been cleaned at all!.

I'm not expecting to eat my dinner off them, but seeing mess still in them from the day before isn't very appealing.

Also we were about a 5 minute walk away from the entertainment which is fine for us, but at chucking out time, (around 1. 30am) the groups of youngsters swearing, shouting, and fighting was just to much.

It turns out two police vans were called to sort out the problem and chuck them off site!

When youre in a tent or any other accomodation & you have 2 young children with you it's extremely nerve wracking.

Maybe we just picked a bad weekend, who knows, but I certainly would not return or recommend this to anyone.

We spent a long weekend here, Thursday – Sunday. The site is well positioned just across the road from the beach with miles of sand. The lovely old Sussex town of Rye is within 7 miles distance and has many amenities.

This is a very large and busy site catering mainly for hundreds of static vans, with very few touring spaces. The touring field butts right on to the main road.

We found that the site was clean, and the facilities adequate, with conveniently placed water taps and electrical hookups. However the pitches were grass, not marked out, and the ground was very hard and compacted, the grass worn out and heavily used. It was also very crowded and the pitches were very tightly packed together.

When we arrived we discovered that the pitch that we had booked had been taken by someone else and when we asked where we should park, we were told “just park wherever you can”. This was very unsatisfactory, and in fact we later discovered that of course we had then parked in somebody else’s space and that many other campers had experienced similar problems. The touring part of the site was very badly organized and I would be concerned if I had a campervan, that if you left your pitch to go out for the day, you could well find it taken by someone on your return!

Unfortunately the toilets and showers and the waste disposal area all left something to be desired, functional, but very well used and not particularly clean.

Admittedly, there is plenty for the kids to do, 3 minutes from the beach, great indoor swimming pools, lots of entertainment and amusements and a large fully equipped playground.

The club house, restaurant and bar had good entertainment, but was very busy. The takeaway shop was excellent quality and value for money.

We found an excellent local restaurant and bar called Dunes Bar just opposite the beach on Old Lydd Road. Superb menu and very reasonable. We would return just for Dunes Bar!

The entertainment facilities are great for kids and adults alike, the funstars are a great bunch and never tire of entertaining the kids, the beach is a 3 minute walk from the touring site. There was no manager on the touring site and the ground in general was un-level and in poor condition, there were electric cables sticking up from the ground in places
The toilets were clean and well stocked with soap but no paper towels to dry your hands on. The restaurant offers a good carvery at a realistic price but the menu was a limited one.
The disabled facility for showering is inadequate and not suitable for wheelchair bound people. The touring site is very close to the road and can be noisy at times but you are well fenced in, the pool is lovely and the sauna and facilities are great. One week would be enough, more if the weather was great due to the close location of the beach

Having driven for 6 hours to get there, it was not at all a great start to be told, "sorry we are flooded and so you can't stay". They had our mobile number from when we booked. It was even more galling that (as we later found out) several days earlier they had had to get a tractor to pull people out.

Anyway after much discussion we found a pitch, used our motor mover to get the van on the grass so we the towcar wouldn't get stuck and set up.

The site itself has hundreds of static vans with a few tourer spaces. Unfortunately the washing machines for caravans were broken so we had to share 4 washing machines with the other several hundred people. In other words, no washing machine facilities.

The club was like any other lively evening entertainment venue aimed at 7 year olds; with a bar. This would have been great were it not for it starting until 8pm. Nevertheless our 4 children thought it was great.

The shower block was functional, but not especially clean. The waste area was a re-purposed toilet, great for chemical and a nightmare to lift the waste master.

The real hits of the site are the swimming pool and the beach, 3 minutes from the beach and 5 from the on-site pool. The pool has a tidal area that was fantastic.

All in all it could have been a pretty grim 3 nights apart from the cost: £6 per night for all 6 of us on a pitch with electric hook up. It would cost us more to go swimming once! The pool made it worthwhile.

This site does take tents.   The on site facilities bars, shop, swimming pool, laundrette, toilet, washing up etc are all of a high standard.   However there is little or no shelter for tents and the wind comes in off the beach.   I saw more damaged tents then I care to think about and had to leave early due to too much damage to my own tent to repair on site.

The town is small, apart from the beach and a nice children's park everything else has to be driven to.   There is a small supermarket - Londis - within walking distance but the on site shop sells a good range of stuff.

I spoke to a number of locals who suggested that Hastings would be a better bet for campers in the area as the sites have more shelter.

Where do I start!  Really Disappointed!
I had read the reviews and was looking forward to staying here - got a bit of a shock when I drove in.
We had booked two pitches next to each other 4 months before - however they didn't pre-book pitches - which we weren't told of.   The only two they had left next too each other were terrible - just mud and puddles.   Fair enough it had been raining but the pitches were so fall of ruts and holes the water didn't run away.
They don't split out tourer and tent areas so the ground had been really churned up - not great to put a tent on.
The site advertises 48 touring pitches, however  there must have been twice this number of tents and caravans.   They had crammed in tents where ever they could. If there was a space a tent was in it! Hence the one shower block couldn't cope and even though they cleaned it twice a day it still got dirty really quickly. You also need to be careful as we had asked for hook ups which we got - but if you had been squeezed in somewhere then you wouldn't have any! Be explicit when you book.
Generally the site was quiet although we were right next to the road - which had heavy trucks thundering up it from about 6am onwards - some of which would also sound their horns as they drove past - must of been the highlight of their day!
On a plus point the proper designated pitches were large and we were able to make the best of it. The warden seemed very helpful but the site was having a huge sales effort on static caravans so I don't think the touring field was a priority - it could do with some proper landscaping and improved drainage.
Moving on to the entertainment.   The swimming pools were nice - the leisure centre is due an upgrade which is planned for the end of this year.
We didn't use the family bar - too smoky for me and too noisy for the children - but others seemed to think it was great as it was always full. The new Boatyard bar was nice, airy and modern. And the children enjoyed the outside play area.
Despite all the problems with the site we still had a great time due to the beach - it was lovely. Sandy, shallow and the children loved it. When the the tide was out it left warm pools for splashing and fishing in - and when it came in the water stayed shallow for a long way out.
Camber it self is very small so expect to travel to Rye for shopping. Although there are lots of beach accessory shops.
We won't be going back -  but if you had a caravan and went outside peak season you would have a good time.

On arrival my first reaction was eek, it was chaos, no pitches marked out it was just a free for all.   The warden wandered round with my husband and showed him the vacant "spots", we'd booked and paid for a fortnight and I was a more than a little worried! Fortunately we managed to squeeze a reasonable pitch near the tennis courts and thankfully we had an extra long lead cause the hook up was some distance away!  Once set up the free for all atmosphere actually worked to our advantage cause we were able to secure wind breaks completely round our awning (using a very strong hammer the ground was like iron!) and make a nice garden area for our 2 dogs.   The club was not to our liking, kids entertainment only went on for an hour (if the bingo over ran it was less than that!), 7. 30-8. 30 and was a bit smutty, it always helps I think if the kids entertainers actually like kids - most of these didn't! I seem to be turning this into an epic - sorry - basically the campsite was poor, the pool was poorer (but is being revamped during 2007?) the toilets ladies loos were reasonable and cleaned everyday by a very nice, friendly lady, the showers were okay if the pressure was up, heaven help you mid shower if the pressure drops cause you'll be rinsing in a trickle (honest), but the location was excellent.   Lots of people moaning about the state of the place though, but quite a few vans there for the season and they seemed quite happy about it.  Having said all that it was very reasonably priced and we did have a good fortnight but more down to the beach and location than the campsite.

Had an extra week at the end of the school holidays so we decided to take our two boys (aged 4 and 2) to somewhere with some facilities in case of poor weather. What a mistake!

The touring area, or atleast the part we were put on was right next to the main road in and out of the camp. It was covered in litter and was used as a dog exercise area and as a shortcut by the people with caravans. It also seemed to be used a car park which didn't make it very safe.

Whilst pitching the tent, which wasn't easy as it has a fair share of concrete scattered around, we got talking to the family pitched next to us. They explained that they have had to put up with noise into the early hours for the past 3 nights. But this was Sunday so we guessed things would be quieter. How wrong we were!

From around midnight to 3am we had to put up with drunken brawls right outside the tent, shouting and foul language. All this happening within 30 yards of the Security office.

On top of this the constant stream of cars, thumping over the speed bumps and caravan doors slamming made it almost impossible to sleep. And then at 8am the site staff decide it would be a great time to start hauling caravans around, again over the speed bumps!

On top of all this the touring facilities were filthy. The toilets and showers were disgusting. At around 8. 30am someone was in there cleaning them but when I returned later it looked like the filth had just be redistributed and the showers had not even been touched. There are a couple of family showers, but again these were dirty and the water and lights kept going on and off.

We were supposed to stay for 4 nights but we could only brave 1. So we packed up and went off to find another site. We lodged a complaint at the reception, and we were told that someone would contact us that day. A week later and several phone calls later we are still waiting.

The entertainment facilities on the camp looked OK with a couple large bars, an amusement arcade and a large play area. We didn't get to use the swimming pools as they close at 4. 30pm. There is a small shop on site which stock the very basics.

Would we go back? Never in a million years!
