Stayed here for a family wedding in P'Boro .
The site is good level well drained owned/manager pleasant and helpful. The site facilities were a little limited. Handy for Flag Fen history site, can walk into P'Boro via national cycle route and would be a ideal for any fishermen as on banks of the river Nene sp and lakes and trout farm near by. Being on the fens, flat all round so gentle walking and cycling.

Spent the May Bank Holiday at Northey Lodge and was impressed by the the staff, location and the washing facilities.
Enter through electric gates and forward to reception, which made me chuckle. Room for one head only at window borrowed from dolls house!
After paying up for our 3 night stay (Cash only if I remember correctly BUT CHEAP) A member of staff hopped on his bike and took us directly to our pitch and showed us the location of all the facilities.
Conifer trees break the site up into different sections which gives shelter, shade and a modicum of privacy. Oh! and a great place for the doves to woo you with a morning chorus!
Overall site was tranquil and well laid out. Loo's and showers were spotless at all times. Plenty of space for the kids to kick a ball etc. I have already recommended to others, with two minor observations to note.
Sand and gravel quarry nearby. If staying on a weekday, be prepared from some rather loud noises early in the morning.
Hot tap for washing dishes, remained hot for 10 seconds before quietly turning to cold!
Apart from that .Hats off to Northey Lodge

This was our first time out in our tourer. We first heard about this from a work friend ( hello Den ) as we only wanted to go somewhere for a short break. The site has very good on-site storage which we will be seriously considering to use for the winter. The whole site is flat and broken up into bays with conifers which give some privacy and wind break. Good leccy points and some of these also have mini lights fitted above them. There is not a kids play area but loads of space to kick a ball about. We found the showers in good working order and no problems emptying the dreaded cassette. The summer house ( information / brochures ) was well stocked and also there is an old fashioned red phone box with working phone. Flag fen is within walking distance and there is also the Millenium bridge walk. If you like fishing then the river Nene is the other side of the main road with other fisheries within easy reach. About 3 miles away is the Dog in a Doublet pub, this has a small kids play area with a few odd ales. They do serve food but not all day so check up before hand but all round its not a "plastic" pub but could to with a little TLC. So here's a quick overview. Very good site. Safe for kids and kit. Very Good storage area. Tidy and clean. Very quite. Local fishing. Car needed for shops and pub / grub. Near to Peteborough. Flag fen if you are a time team addict. Ok enough is enough, Just hitch up and give it a try, but you have no choice but to chill out and relax.

We have just got back from staying at this site - and I would just like to say how much we enjoyed ourselves. We stayed here for one night, with our friends who are relatively new to camping. We only live a few miles down the road, but had decided to camp there and have a few friends over on the Saturday night for a barbecue. The owners were very helpful and didn't charge us extra for our guests (so long as they weren't staying overnight). The site is well laid out, with conifer hedges in between the different areas - so we were in a field with the other tents, but with the hedges, it gave us quite a bit of shelter. The toilet and shower block was basic - but clean and very adequate. In fact, we have stayed on higher priced sites with far worse facilities than here. The owners were very good, and we only saw them on the Sunday morning when they were fixing the ladies showers.
They even have Caravan cleaning facilities onsite, and an area where people can practise putting their Caravans, with electric hook up, for which the owners only charged a small fee of £2 Now for the very slight negative points; There is no on-site shop (although there is a pub 5 minutes down the road) There is no playground for the children (Ours were happy to play round the conifer hedges) They put a keycode on the toilet doors (very annoying trying 5 times to get in, then realise you have been twisting the handle the wrong way) and as they have a security gate the entrance, we felt it was a code too far. The Reception area has got the worlds smallest window for you to talk to the man on the booking desk. These are very very minor niggles - what I suggest is make sure you have enough food /drink to last your stay, take plenty of outdoor toys for the kids, a friend who is in mensa (to memorise the lock codes for you) and just kick back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere this gem of a site has to offer before it becomes a victim of its own popularity.

We stayed here just one night, in order to visit Flag Fen, the nearby Bronze Age archaeological centre. It is a huge flat site which also offers van storage, so security is like Fort Knox, with a code number for the automatic gates, and for the facilities, and no arrivals after 7pm. The site is broken up with tall conifer rows, which creates good shade and shelter, and we were shown to a good pitch by the owner. There is no onsite shop and no shops nearby, so you need to make sure you are stocked up before arrival. There are facilities in the main buildings near the entrance, and also some portakabin type ones. The latter were our nearest, and whilst they were reasonably clean they were home to a very big spider colony - so would not suit anyone who is arachnophobic! In the ladies side of the portakabin there were 3 loos and one shower - which was tiny but did not need coins and proved to be a very good power shower when I tried it out. Facilities were the same in the gents side. There is also water, a laundry room, bins and recycling points, and the fee for us 2 plus our small tent was £10 for the night. There is no play area, and when we walked round we saw that tenters like us were very much the minority; caravans had the best pitches at the front of the site nearest the ablutions in the main building, and there was an impressive array of caravan cleaning and maintenance facilities, presumably for customers who use their storage or long term pitch arrangements. Peterborough itself is a nice town with a lot to see and do, and the site had a little summerhouse with lots of tourist info in it. So, for us this was a ho-hum experience; it was okay for our weekend needs and we would come back if we needed to be in this area again, but it is not a site that we would give 5* to, as it feels that we tenters are very much an afterthought. Though I must acknowledge that our judgement is maybe coloured a little by the unfortunate experience of being pitched near the Clampitts who were conducting a rowdy "domestic" through most of the evening we were there.

May bank holiday weekend. This was our first ever camping holiday and as such we didn't really know what to expect. To be honest, this site was not our first choice but as we had left it a little late in booking we didn't really have much option. However, having managed to pitch our tent without too much trouble, and with the help of some very nice neighbours, we soon settled in to what was to become one of the wettest bank holiday weekends ever! Despite this we had a great time. The site was very quiet, with no traffic or other annoying disturbances, and although the weather was awful, the site was very nice and surrounded by massive confiers that provided adequate protection from the wind. The site is very basic, there is no shop and the reception was a small window in the side of the main house. If you were to need replacements of any sort, the nearest camping outlet is about a 15 minute drive away. Conversley, you are not bothered by any site staff and are left to your own devices although they are present should you need them. The toilet was adequate and clean and the shower was hot at all times. The washing up area was again adequate but the hot water din't last very long. Although there was plenty of space for our three young boys to play football, there was no childrens 'play area'. The site was level and thankfully the drainage was very good. The whole area surrounding Northey Lodge is Fen land and as such is not always the most attractive. It is not far from an industrial area although you would not know this once on the site. Although we didn't explore that much, there did not appear much in the way of nearby entertainment. There is a riverside cycle path to Cambridge, but again the weather was too poor to allow us to use it. There was a pub at the end of the road, but again we can't comment on this venue. Despite the above comments, which may sound rather negative, we had a lovely time and would have no doubts about returning again. To be fair, the pictures on the website do not truly reflect how nice the site would be on a lovely sunny day. There were plenty of hook ups and the storage area, that consisted of about 200 hundred caravans was very well hidden by yet more conifers, and you wouldn't even know it was thre unless you went looking for it. The site is protected by electronic gates and is very secure. If you are looking for a peaceful site away from it all, then this site would not dissappoint you.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Stayed during bank holiday weekend and there was ample room for our large trailer tent. Site is, as it says, remote. Lots of space for children to run around, but no play equipment. Had been raining lots for previous week and some pitches were very boggy, but wardens kept tents etc away from these areas. Minor grumble would be the washing up area - one sink for all and in the same cubicle as one of the two showers (ladies), so had to avoid washing up in busy times. All toilet areas kept very clean and were regularly checked by staff. Security good.

We enjoyed 3 nights at this site. The manager was very helpful, facilities very clean. plenty of space between tents, and I particularly liked the use of trees sectioning off areas for some privacy but not enough to feel unneighbourly. Fresh water at frequent intervals. There were no shops nearby so must be prepared. We made use of the cycle path into Peterborough, first bit abit rough but then very smooth. I liked the fact the cycle path was not anywhere near a road, except the 200 metres we walked to get onto the path, so ideal for children. It rained the first night but after that it was perfect, not too hot not too cold.
