A very good site, not too big and well laid out so that all pitches have plenty of room. We stayed for 5 nights while enjoying all the local attractions of the Forest of Dean. The toilet and shower block were always clean and there was plenty of hot water. The same went for the dishwashing room. Only a 5 minute drive from Coleford where there are plenty of takeaways/restaurants and a good sized supermarket. The George pub in St Briveals (10 minutes by car) serves great food and is well worth the drive. The children had plenty of room to play badminton etc.

This site is quite small and mostly has static caravans in, and a small section of the site was for tents, and was really quiet when we visited with a few other campers that just kept themselves to themselves. This is a great site if, like us, you are a couple looking for a quiet getaway. Even though the site does not have many trees actually in it, the site is surrounded by woodland, which really makes you feel like you're camping in the woods. I would not recommend this site to families with young children, as there is not much room to play, no playground etc. Having said that, it is very well situated for activities such as puzzle wood, clearwell caves, forest of dean, so if you're not planning to spend too much time at the actual campsite with the nippers, there is a lot to do. Staff were welcoming and always on hand, they let us exchange our freeze blocks for a 5p donation, and also said BBQs were fine if we used one of the concrete slabs left around the site. The facilities were perfectly adequate, with hot showers that were cleaned every day and separate washing up facilities. There was also a small shop on site which had anything you might need in an emergency, like bacon and lovely big local eggs, or a packet of choc digestives!

Woodlands View is an excellent site for hiking and biking in the Forest of Dean, its very near Puzzlewood and Clearwell caves. Its 30 minutes walk into Coleford, alternatively there is a bus service a few minutes walk away in Milkwall. The site is kept in perfect condition and a great stopping of point for those travelling further afield. If you want to go walking in the forest , there is a parking/picnic area in the centre of the forest which is free with ample parking places, there were a few motorhomes resting up in there !. A few things we were disappointed with on the site, were the showers which were a bit weak and they do need to replace the curtains with doors for more privacy. Also the CDP could do with being camoflaged from the pitch next door, can't be very pleasant for the family eating their breakfast outside their tent whilst your emptying the toilet 5 yards away The Miners pub is 400 down the road [out the gate and turn left] which allegedly serves very good food, we did try 'The Marquis pub' in Sling .we were the only two people in there [sad for August]. We tried Coleford on Saturday night.not the place for the over 50's. The five pubs were absolutely overrun with extremely noisy revellers. According to a local person, it's normal week-end mayhem for Coleford [confirmed by the presence of the police van in the square]

What a little gem of a campsite! small and quiet, very friendly owners. Close to all the major sites in the forest with a pretty little wood right next to the site - ideal for walking dogs or a stroll or bike ride. Small but adequate shop and the shower block was spotless if a little small but then there aren't that many people using it anyway!
We are keen to return!

Small and quiet site with friendly owners. Very clean toilets and showers, very tidy site. Shop selling basic things. Short grass and quite flat. Good location for Symonds Yat etc. Puzzle wood is close by and well worth a visit, no picnics allowed in the wood but take drinks and plenty of time it’s worth it. As mentioned the site is quite might not be suitable if you have boisterous or active children, we did not find a play area. We will be returning soon.

We booked this late on the evening that we intended to visit due to the terrible thunderstorms and rain. They were very accomodating and we arrived not knowing what faced us, The site was delightful and the reception very warm. The site is not very big but it is clean and tidy with a good mixture of tents and caravan pitches, The shop is basic but equips the vitial stuff. The showers were hot and welcoming. I would recommend this site for a no frills but relaxing time. We had 2 children with us (3 & 13) and they certainly had no complaints.....

June 2005 Great little campsite. Very handy for Coleford and area. 5 mins drive from Coleford and immediate attractions eg clearwell caves, Perrygrove Railway & puzzle wood. Good pub with good beer & food (Miners Arms) within easy walking distance.
Local shop in Sling if you don't want to go to Coleford, or the site shop stocks the essentials.
Good clean toilet block & hot showers. Well kept and tended site. Very friendly owners.
