Just got back from one of the most delightful, quiet, stress free weekends we have ever had. The site is very well maintained with good size pitches. We were given a choice of where we wanted (picked the pitch next to the duck pond ) and so quiet no traffic noise at all. There is only one shower in the mens and one in the womens but water was hot and only 20p for about 8 Min's, we never had to wait for one. facilities also include pot washing, laundry, microwave and disposal points all exceptionally clean and well cared for, as well as disabled toilet and shower facilities. A good play park for the kids and a separate football field. There is a dog exercise walk and a riverside walk(no dogs on this one). No shop but as stated by a previous camper, a lady visits on a weekend at about 9.30 to sell milk, bread, papers etc.
A 10 min ride away is Barnard Castle with a variety of shops, pubs, Bowes Museum and Barnard Castle grounds. Only a short trip from Raby Castle Darlington, Durham City Catterick, Richmond and the spectacular Dales with some outstanding scenery and walks and many visitor attractions to numerous to mention. Truly a beautiful site and area of the country we will definitely be returning to this one in the near future.

Just stayed at Hetherick for the last week. Very happy to recommend the site. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Areas for the children to play and plenty of space. There is no shop, but a lady visits on weekend mornings to sell papers, milk and bread etc. Did have a few problems with the showers; running out of gas and hot water but good value all the same for 20p. Would be very happy to visit again. nb. A good day out - Diggerland - Wow!

Visited this lovely site for the weekend, wasn't sure what to expect as not a lot of details regarding the site, we weren't disappointed! The site is well maintained lovely gardens and hanging baskets dotted around , toilet/shower block immaculate, only 2 showers in each men/women's but didn't cause any problems, we always got in first time and they are lovely and hot 20p coin and you get about 5 minutes. Ladies you can take your hairdryers etc as plenty of plugs to do your hair!
Kids play area is good we got a pitch near by so it was ideal having 2 kids ourselves. There is a laundrette/dryer room and sinks to wash the pots as well. The site is quiet and makes a relaxing break, plenty of places to visit and go walking. All in all we had a lovely weekend and the weather was great, will definitely be returning soon.

July 2004 A very quiet campsite, apart from the sheep and cows and occasional goose or duck. Plenty of space for the kids to run around or ride their bikes. Small adventure playground including an infant slide, tyre swing and see saw. Take a visit to the lake nice and peaceful.
Shower and toilet block immaculate. Take 20pences for the showers. Shop on site, limited goods but reasonably priced.
going back in a couple of weeks.
