We arrived a little late in the day, as we were on tour and travelling from Devon. It has to be said that the site is quite 'off the beaten track' and not that easy to find, so if you have no SatNav ( like us ) then make sure you have done your homework before you set off.
As we arrived late in the day ( about 4pm ) there was little choice of pitches, but we did manage to get onto a hard standing pitch. Be warned, the circlur grass area and towards the back of the site, can get very busy, with people pitching up in front of you. What can look like an isolated pitch one day can be rammed, on the next day.
Major fault here was the shower block. On the good side, each unisex unit had a shower, basin and toilet, but on the bad side, was that half of the units are closed as early as 10am for cleaning, meaning if you do not shower before 10am, there are only half of the units available. The other half are cleaned in the afternoon, which makes sense.
The site is in the middle of the New Forest, so within two minutes of walking outside of the site, you are close to wild horses. There is an (unmarked) track into Brockenhurst ( we did not try this ).
Traffic through the town of Lyndhurst seems busy all day long.
Lymington, to the south, as a good Waitrose and M&S for food.

Just been again 3rd year running. Stayed 10 days this time. Very organised on arrival, as it was a busy day the wardens were in the car park at the beginning of the lane stopping new arrivals to their site until 12noon. Then carefully letting everyone down in the order they arrived in small batches to check in. We picked a grass pitch farthest away from the entrance, nice and roomy with no one in front of us, although sheltered by the trees. Seems the middle grass section is best if you want sun. New Forest show only 10 min walk from the site. Worth a visit if you are down at this time, although the Brockenhurst/Lyndhurst area is a nightmare for traffic if you are trying to go out for the day. No waits for showers what ever time of day we went.
Christchurch market on Mondays, lovely fruit and veg, and cake stalls. Harvester and Toby Carvery on way if you like that sort of thing. Tesco's Express closest shop for everyday things, although the site shop had a bit more this time - lovely belgian buns, and sweets as well as ice creams. Only let down was we couldn't take the dog (9mth old lab) - we booked here specially for her but we didn't manage to get her over her car sickness to make the journey, maybe next year. Definitely still one of our favourite sites.

Dog walkers heaven. Not only a superb site with regards to space, facilities and lovely wardens but right on the doorstep to the New Forest where you can walk the dogs for miles.
We only stayed two nights as we were passing through but we will definitely be returning.

Our second outing as new caravanners, as we had joined the caravan club we decided to use one of their members only sites, and what a lovely site this is. Right in the heart of the new forest surrounded by trees and wildlife. Though there is a grid at the entrance to stop any curious deer or ponys having a look at your van (this site is for caravans only)
Arrival is restricted to after 12 noon as there is only a narrow road leading in with large speed humps, there is a large carpark about half way down the access road where vans and campers seem to wait till after 12 noon. As we arrived after 1pm we drove straight in, the site wasn't too busy so managed to find a lovely hardstanding to set up on (using newly installed caravan mover!)
The toilets were spotless as were the privacy cubicles containing toilet shower and basin, also lovely and warm and constant hot water no pushing a button.
Plenty of dog walking in the forest nearest shops and pub 2 miles we went into the forresters arms in Brockenhurst which allowed the dogs in the bar. It poured down for the four days we were there but still a fantastic site.

We just had 2 nights at this site. I would recommend you follow the instructions in the caravan club directions. Beware of the speed bumps, they are rather large! On arrival the staff were very friendly, the site was not over crowded even being half term. They have a great shower block, its circular with separate shower rooms accessed only by a key. It has loo, sink and shower and refreshingly a shower that is not a push button 30 second ration type. They are very clean too. This is an ideal site to discover the new forest, would recommend it. Beware of cost of Beaulieu, adults £15ish each! Far too expensive in my view. Black Knowl gets a big tick from me.

A nice site in the middle of the forest with some great cycling opportunities on the doorstep. The toilet facilities are unique but so outdated. At busy times, you have to queue outside and keep your eye on the exterior doors waiting for someone to vacate then pelt to it as quick as possible and get there before someone else as it is every man for themself!
The wardens were friendly but ran a tight ship. We arrived at the site early (only ten minutes) and were turned away. I was humiliated and told I had to get off the and come back at 12 (It was 11.50 why couldn’t I just wait there?)
The site was packed and people were turning up without bookings and were being turned away so plan ahead! The site is very popular with the older clientèle and didn’t seem child friendly.

Have been to this site two years running. Love the quirky shower facilities, always spotless, and very private. The site is beautiful, clean and well run. It would be such a shame if the club lost this gem. The wardens are helpful and friendly, and run a tight ship to make sure everyone enjoys their stay. Fantastic cycling and walking. Fingers crossed the lease gets renewed.

Our second visit here, we were here last April. This time we stayed for 10 nights, and all took our bikes and trailer for the 2 year old.
We were on a grass pitch which we prefer in the summer for the kids playing in the awning. There were a few heavy downpours but the pitch drained very well. We were surprised that the site was not full near the end of our stay.
The wardens were very friendly and on the ball, they regularly were wandering around to check everything was OK. Some might think that this is OTT, but we didn't mind when they told the kids from next door to us, to stop throwing balls and hitting cars and vans. There was no problem having swing ball and badminton sets up.
As before the shower rooms were very clean, with lots of hot water, although not a lot of pressure. We never had to wait for a shower in early evenings when we used them. We had perfect digital TV reception.
This time we went on lots of bike rides. We took the track to Lyndhurst near the site. It is mainly through the forest on a good gravel track with the last 3/4 mile on a lane and the main road which we walked as we have young children. Also there is a nice shorter route by turning back towards Brockenhurst just over a mile along the Lyndhurst track. It was lovely to do in the early evening when there were lots of deer about. It does come back out onto Rhinefield Ornamental Drive near Rhinefield House Hotel so the last little bit is on the road but it wasn't very busy.
There is a lovely bridge and 'waterhole' area not far along this route which we often walked. In nice weather it was like visiting the beach on a hot day full of families playing and having picnics.
Managed the Lymington to Yarmouth IOW ferry this time. Cost £4.50 all day parking in the Wight Link ferry carpark, then £26 for 2 adults and 2 children for a day return as a foot passenger. But beware there is not a lot to do in Yarmouth. Lovely cafe for lunch by the wooden pier.
We were lucky to be there while the New Forest Show was on 27-29 July. Was about 5 min bike ride(or you could drive it), along the Lyndhurst track which was open to cars just for the show. We were there all day wandering around. Although the food prices were extortionate.
Fish and Chips from Brockenhurst were lovely. Tesco's as always was very busy all of the time but has a good selection.
Used the Swan pub on way to Lyndhurst on Rhinefield Road. Climbing frame in garden with lots of seating inside and out. Not too badly priced on a par with most pubs, menu came across as home cooked food, but it wasn't by the looks of it, but OK.
Went to Ringwood market on the Wednesday, but his was a bit of a let down. Most of it was more like a bootsale, with not many stalls. Not very much else there other than a few shops and Sainsburys and Waitrose. Christchurch was nice with some sandy beaches just up the road in Muddyford.
We love this area, no doubt we will return within the next few years.

Well I highly recommend this site, we have returned home a few hours ago.
The wardens are very friendly and cheerful, toilets and showers are kept very clean, we will be going back next year.
Also lovely walks and really nice watching the horses and wild life.

What a beautiful location, this has got to be one of the best kept sites that we have visited.
Toilets & showers were spotless, you were given keys for the blocks when you arrived which ensured that only users of the site had access.
The site is kept in immaculate condition, WELL DONE TO THE WARDENS FOR THIS.
Although no ball games are allowed the Wardens allowed us to have our swingball up to keep the kids amused, and it was only a two minute walk outside the site where you could play what ever you wanted.
I hope the rumours are not true about this site possibly having to close after this season.
This site is a MUST if you are visiting the New Forest.
