29th April - 1st May We had a fantastic stay at the Old Down Touring Park. Even though it was only for the weekend we made good use of the shop and shower / WC facilities. There are 3 shower cubicles which each have a great shower and can be as hot or cold as you wish. I didn't want to get out ! You can not fault the cleanliness of the place either. Lovely. It was just the two of us but I would say that this park would be ideal for famlies as well. Wonderful atmosphere and lovely people. We shall be visting again... as will our freinds who visited the same time (family of 5). Thank you Paul & Jen

We visited this site for a weekend and we found that it is a perfectly relaxing place. The owner Les and his wife are really helpful. The toilet block with showers etc would put many hotels in the shade (I am on the road at least twice a week and I have stayed in many over the years).
I read with interest on this site that the entrance to the camp site is narrow that is not how I found it,in fact it is one of the more bigger entrances that you find. I stood and looked at the gateway yesterday and I am still wondering now how they came to that conlusion. There is a nice pub opposite the site and the food is A1. We will be back when the weather gets warmer.

Stayed over the August bank holiday weekend. The site was full but there was lots of space between pitches and it didn't feel crowded. There was some road noise but we didn't find it a problem at all. Toilets and showers were clean and well kept.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and the site has a very nice feel to it. It is also very secure as there is a key entry system, and the main gate is locked overnight.
Didn't try the pub across the road but we ate at the Somerset Wagon pub in Chilcompton (about 2 miles) - excellent food. There is a co-op store in Chilcompton which sells most things you could want and stays open until 9pm most days.
Very handy for visting Wookey Hole, and within driving distance of Longleat and Bath.

We stayed at this site for 2 weeks (we being myself/husband and 2 kids). We had never visited Somerset before so chose this site mainly for its location being central to all the attractions we wanted to visit i.e Longleat, bath, etc.
The site itself is fantastic, the toilets/showers are the cleanest and warmest I have been in. The site is 4 acres with only 30 pitches so there is loads of space with plenty of room between the tents. Les and Sheila are really nice and very helpful with nothing seeming to much trouble.
I must mention the road noise, it does continue 24 hours and it is noticeable although we were getting use to it by the end, apart from that the site cant be faulted and we would visit again.

August 2005 We have just been there for a few days break and to go to the bristol balloon fiesta. We were very impressed with the site and would highly recommend a stay there. There were a few down points however, one of which is that it is situated right next to a busy road and is quite noisy throughtout the night. Also there is not a play area for the children. We did know about this before we went, but it would have been so much easier to keep my children occupied if there was a play area on the site. The proprietors are lovely and very helpful ( even lent us their bbq tongs as we forgot ours!) The site is VERY well kept and the toilet blocks are absolutely immaculate and very warm. We really enjoyed it there and would definatley return, but would take plenty of outdoor games for the children.

July 2005 small and clean field with unique one-way system and swipe key access to enter and leave the site.
Very clean and modern shower block; 3 shower cubicles and 2 toilets in Gents and 3 showers and toilets in Ladies. Need key to gain entry.
Friendly and helpful owners who live on-site near entrance in own caravan.
Site is perfect for exploring the area; Longleat,Cheddar Gorge,Weston supermare, Bath/Bristol etc. Really is very good.
Only downer is constant (24/7) road noise from A39 which runs longside site and narrow site entrance.

June 2005 This was our first visit to the site but will not be our last. On arrival we were given a very friendly welcome. Les the owner pointed out the toilet block & explained how the site was locked at 11.00pm and access to the site was with a keycard this giving added security, a £10.00 deposit is required for the key.
All pitches are flat and the ground is perfect for pitching a tent on. The site and toilet block was always clean and in good order. The atmosphere is very relaxing and friendly, in fact many of the other campers have been here before and know each other. There are two pubs in the area both offering good food, one is a few minutes drive down the road, the other a walk accross the road. As others have said it's a good base to explore the surrouding country side.

October 2004 A friendly and peaceful site with a warm welcome. Facilities are excellent and kept extremely clean and tidy. Our pitch was 1st class. This was our 1st time on a dedicated campsite, and this site was an excellent choice. Will be returning in the warmer weather! Food and facilities in the local pubs is excellent!

June 04 Great campsite, quiet, very clean, and nice and flat. The campsite itself is quite basic but with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We were there over the Whit school holidays and it was moderately busy, but no-one was pitched on top of each other. Plenty space to run around The pub does good grub.
