This was the first ever time I had camped and I was wary of camping but from the first second of arriving at this site I knew I was going to enjoy camping.
We had not planned to stop here but as it was late we decided to stop here. Arriving at 10. 30 pm was not a problem for the owners of the site and they welcomed us in with no problem despite having to ring the bell to their home to make sure it was ok to stop.
The site itself was pristine. The location was just superb.
Driving to a location to pitch the tent was allowed and we found a spot no problem. Located just trees away from the river made the camping feel even more rural.
The toilet and shower blocks were spotless and there was certainly enough of them.
Access to Fort William was easy enough, I am just disappointed we could only stay for a short while.

Residing at the Lochy Holiday Park in our newly bought tent was an absolute pleasure. Its relaxed and welcoming feel made our 3 day break a complete joy.
We were staying at the camp while climbing Ben Nevis in July 2011. The location was excellent, being approximately 5 minutes from Fort William town centre made it easily accessible from the train station, as well as having lots of shops/supermarkets around the town (Morrison's).
As for the camp itself, I was delighted by the overall cleanliness of the area, the grass where we were camping was top notch as well as the showers and toilets. The only negative I can possibly pick out was the toilet doors have no hangers on the back for when you get up in the night and need to take a coat, apart from that, I was pleased with the cleanliness.
The staff are friendly and willing to help with information about the area, calling taxis etc. There is a small shop based within the camp selling heaters and basic camping supplies and food. This is brilliantly priced and the staff very friendly and polite which adds to the general relaxed feeling of the area.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone who is in the area. Although my uncle paid, I was told its very good value for money and was a pleasure to spend my 3 days there.
Thanks to everyone who plays a part in running the holiday park.

We were very impressed with the Lochy Holiday Park, nestled beneath the awe inspiring mountains and beside a river.
We found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful; even when their shop was closed, there was no problem getting us some tea bags - which I was desperate for after our walk up Ben Nevis!
The shop itself is extremely well stocked with a wide range of food (including meat for barbecues) and even parts for tents and cooking stoves.
The site is large but it wasn't very busy when we were there, it was very easy finding a pitch and the site was very quiet.
The toilet facilities were very impressive; they were clean and, importantly, there were lots of toilets and showers. However the temperature is not adjustable.
We found the site to be excellent value for money in a good location (5 minute drive into town). We were very impressed. Well worth staying there.

This was our first camping trip to Scotland. We had a very friendly reception from the owners. The site facilities were well maintained and always found to be very clean. The site offered fantastic views of the Nevis range.
Very well situated as a base for exploring the area. The camping area was flat and there appeared to be plenty of room and it was very quiet.
A couple of things could have been improved eg: Recycling bins for glass, tin, plastic etc also brushes in the toilet cubicles as sometimes you were greeted with skidpans which stayed until the cleaner got round to removing them. A
ll in all a great site would definitely go again and would recommend to anybody.

We have been to Fort William many times, and always used the other sites. Our mistake!
We arrived without booking, and when I said I hadn't been to the site before, the friendly lady on reception invited us to have a look round first.
What a gem, with a good view of Ben Nevis and a nice riverside walk on the edge of the site.
We were able to use a drive through hard standing pitch although it meant parking on the grass beside the caravan. There might not have been much room had we wanted to put up the awning.
Plenty of clean toilets and showers although the shower bases seem to be one large communal drain!
The shop was well stocked and the general appearance of the site was immaculate.
All in all a great base for exploring the Lochaber area.
An 'Eaglewatch cruise' on Loch Shiel is highly recommended

Just come back from a week at this site and have to say what a fantastic time we had. This is quite simply the best site we have stayed on with fantastic views of Ben Nevis.
Staff all very welcoming and helpful. Very reasonable charges. Charged for the number of occupants not the capacity of our tent. Despite our tent being marginally bigger than the max allowed, no quibbles and allowed to pitch where we wanted.
Toilets and showers very clean and lots of free hot water. No charge for freezing ice packs.
Modern laundry facilities, again reasonably priced.
Only four minor improvements could be made namely:
At present showers switch off every 7 seconds requiring you to constantly press the button.
Dish washing facilities a bit cramped with only two sinks in a very tight space.
Laundry closes at 8.30pm a bit too early if you have been out all day.
No recycling facilities for rubbish.
I must emphasise these are only minor irritations and I recommend this site without hesitation.

We stayed here for the third time on our annual trip up to Skye. We find it really breaks the journey up. The welcome is very friendly when you arrive and nothing is too much trouble. The site itself is peaceful, clean, spacious and in the most beautiful surroundings, right at the foot of Ben Nevis.
The view is wonderful! The drive to Achintee farm (a starting point for the climb) is about a 5 minute car journey away. Fort William is about 10 minutes drive away, and has a huge Morrisons and a MacDonald's. There are plenty of outdoor shops and gift shops, and some nice bars/restaurants that we have found to offer good value food.
The journey from Fort William to Mallaig by train is a must do, and there are lots of other things to explore in the area, such as Neptune's Staircase, the Glen Nevis Visitor Centre and Glenfinnan monument which is about 15 miles away. Incidentally those who stay here before getting the ferry to Skye will find Mallaig is about an hours drive away, but very easy to get to from this camp site.
The facilities on the site are spotless, and in the few times we have stayed here (usually two nights at beginning of the holiday, and two nights at the end)we have found it to be very consistant. There are lovely hot showers, plenty of loo's, a dish washing room and a laundry.
There is plenty of room on the camp field to pitch up and even when it's busy it never feels crowded. The grass is flat and soft and easy to pitch a tent on. You can also park your car right next to the tent so loading and unloading is very easy. As previously mentioned, when it rains the water drains away quickly so it never becomes a mud bath! There is a lovely river walk next to the site which offers some interesting rocks and pebbles for those interested in geology.
There is a very well stocked shop on site that is open throughout most of the day selling essentials and newspapers etc, and in reception there is plenty of local info and updates on the weather etc for those wishing to go walking or climb Ben Nevis.
As with any campsite in the highlands, midge repellent is a must, we found Avon's Skin So Soft worked a treat!
This is a camp site we will always return to for friendliness, good value for money and excellent facilities. We paid £29.20 for two nights in a large tent for the two of us. :-)

Holiday park at the foot of 'The Ben'; Ben Nevis, located next to the River Lochy. A short drive out of Fort William, but you cannot see the town from the site. There are a number of lodges and static caravans, from external appearances very well kept.
The area for tents is very large and flat, we didn't have to book in advance as there was a huge amount of space. The facilities are very clean and well kept. I personally didn't like the fixed head showers, you couldn't adjust the temperature yourself and they were automated, shutting off after around 20 seconds, so you had to keep one hand on the button.
The on site shop was well stocked with lots of essential items, and one excellent idea was small bags of soap powder, enough for two or three washes, perfect if you didn't want to buy a whole box.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful, I couldn't have wished for a better reception.
A payphone is also on site.
There is a small playground for young children on the site and there is easy access to the river side, although fishing is not permitted as the river is private property.
There is a leisure centre and swimming pool around 1 mile towards town (which is about 2 miles away).
What stood out most is that after over 24 hours of solid and often quite heavy, rain, the flat site remained intact, no sign of mud or sogginess at all.
Even cars, vans and a coach, all driven carefully across the grass, was not enough to churn up the grass.
Although we have only stayed at around 6 campsites around the UK so far, this is the best one we have stayed at.
The price was also very good, this was a bank holiday weekend, and we had been quoted over £100 at a site in Scarborough, compared with £42 for two nights at Lochy.
The only advice? Bring midge repellent!

Stayed here for just the one night on our way back down south. They wouldn't accept reservations, saying they would have plenty of room and that turned out to be the case. We had a choice of flat hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up. The site was rather bland - everything worked well, the shower / toilet block very clean and spacious but it all seemed a bit soulless after some of the other sites we've been to.
Unfortunately the weather was the worst of our holiday fortnight and rained for two days so we were unable to enjoy the many outdoor pursuits in the area, including the Nevis Range. We walked into Fort William - at least 30 minutes along the main road. I'm sure there must be a short cut or a bus. The town itself is pretty uninspiring - lots of cheap tatty shops and a few pubs and cafes. There was a continental market on while we were there which was fun.

We have just spent a few days here and it was brilliant. Stunning backdrop of Ben Nevis every day with breakfast! I agree with all the other reviews praising the friendliness, professionalism and cleanliness at this well run site. Nothing is too much trouble. It has a well stocked shop where you can buy fresh bread rolls and the daily paper! It has camping items and many things you may need. We were given information freely and enthusiastically on tourism and a problem with our camper necessitating a visit to a Fort William supplier which we found and fixed easily. The showers, loos, dishwashing etc all 10 out of 10, lovely hot water everywhere. Spotlessly clean throughout!
There is a river running along the perimeter of the site which is quite beautiful and has some access for walking along. We were subjected to a lot of rain so it wasn't suitable to walk along it because of the weather. Fort William is a small town with a central hive of activity in it's main street. There are typical Scottish gift shops for tourists and some pubs and lots of places to eat. Parking was easy just behind the main street where the public loos are and can't be missed as have a huge WC in capitals on the building. Disabled persons can park free almost everywhere we went, very different from English car parks where you still pay regardless. We tried to use the library in Fort William for the internet as none on site, that would be nice please? The library was busy and only allows 15 minutes at a time and then you start again in a queue, you must take ID as well. In Peebles we used the library and they had no regulations, on as long as you like, no ID and only sign a visitors form. Apparently all areas vary in Scotland. In the end we used Macdonalds free wi-fi but you need a good battery! There is a big Morrisons next to Macdonalds and a Lidls so the town is excellent for most things and you can walk along the sea front for quite a long way and it is lovely (Boat trips are available.) The campsite is just outside of the town about 2 miles so an easy run. We experienced the Nevis range, using the gondola but really would have loved to do so much more as there is tons to do outdoors If the weather is reasonable. A very good campsite would happily recommend it.
