Used this site when we came up for the SSDT. £15 a night for 2 people in 3 man tent and 2 motorcycles. One of those sites where you pay on entry and just get on with it. The site itself has a steep run in/out of it but the camping area is level a dry. It did get busy that weekend but maybe that was because of the trials.
The toilet/shower block is getting a bit tired but still clean with plenty hot water. They don't have heating so it was pretty cold in there on a frosty May morning. Only 1 sink for washing up so that can get busy at times. A small laundry room with 2 washing machines and 2 driers and a socket for your iron, although when I looked in it was full of kids in there playing games and charging their mobile phones. The site has great views up and down the loch and free fishing right at your tent door. Fishing tackle can be hired at the site.
Kinlochleven is only a 5 minute drive away and has a Coop supermarcket and 3 pubs. The Ice Factor serves up a good meal at reasonable prices and the kids can climb the rock wall, a good place to spend an hour or two if its wet.

We have stayed here before as it is a good stopping point before and after Skye. We weren't too impressed with the previous stay but thought we'd give it another go. It was quite busy when we arrived on a Friday afternoon with nice weather etc.
However, the already busy site filled up to what felt like full capacity. There were some very noisy campers who arrived and who didn't stop making a racket until well after everyone else had gone to bed ((or hidden in their caravans / camper vans - we had no such luxury being in a tent). Car stereos being played loudly etc.
It felt very much as though we were just left to get on with it. This is exactly what happened on our last stay!
I am prepared to overlook basic facilities but this was the most expensive campsite in 2 weeks of touring - £16 for one night, 2 adults. It felt as though as many of us were being packed in as possible, regardless of the effect on other campers. I expected the site to be better monitored than it was.
At least it was only an overnight stay for us.

This site is one of those hidden gems that you stumble on occasionally, which is exactly what we did. We wanted a quiet site that allowed dogs and that is what we got. All the facilities you would expect are spread adequately throughout the site. The toilet and shower blocks are not what you could call first class but they are adequate and spotlessly clean despite the fact that most of the staff were suffering with swine flu at the time of our visit.
The surroundings are stunning and even after torrential rain the site is fairly dry. The only downside to our stay was the midges, we didn't have enough insect repellent with us so we were bitten everywhere! the dogs didn't escape either!
Would I visit again? I am already planning this years breaks and at least 2 weekends will be spent at Caolasnacon.

This camp site is situated in the most beautiful area of Scotland I have ever visited.
Went with two other families - two camped, the other hired a static caravan (very good for £50 a night plus you could hire towels and bedlinen).
My husband enjoyed the fishing and he and his friends caught mackerel at the sea loch which is right next to the site. The children played on the rope swing and along the loch bank.
The facilities (toilets/showers) were basic/sufficient/clean. There is nothing in the immediate vicinity (which adds to the beauty) but there is a pub and great chippy in Kinlochleven approx 3 miles away.
Although we were prepared for midgies (head nets/full sleeves/long trousers/boots/AVON skin so soft/jungle formula repellent)one of my friends and I came home with over eighty bites each. I have never experienced midgies as bad as that and have been put off visiting the area since. I have been advised that the best time to visit the area around Glencoe is around Easter so we are going to attempt a return visit to this site then (it really is beautiful). Would have given 10 out of 10 for location if it wasn't for midgies.

This is one of the best sites we have even been to.
Situated on the shores of a sea loch you are privileged enough to see the tide come in daily in what can only be described as a mesmerising event.
The site provides everything you could need - toilets, showers and sinks-plus swallow chicks in the nest above the toilets and a fisherman catching on the tide.
This is a quite magical place and a quick cycle/drive to Kinlochleven will provide food / beer / etc as required.
If you are looking for a site that is a true campsite, then this is the place.

This site's plus point is it's location, especially if you can pitch lochside as we did on our first visit in mid July when we found basic but just adequate facilities, Clean but dated. Dozens of deep potholes as you drive through the site to the pitches and there are so many potholes you cannot avoid them.
When we returned two weeks later the site looked lke it had been neglected, with the grass areas in a really churned-up muddy mess with no obvious signs of any effort to rectify or avoid further damage. No sign of the owner/manager and it appeared a complete free-for-all if you could find a spot suitable to pitch on. On our second visit, we arrived Thursday afternoon to find uncleaned toilets with no paper towels (no handryers here) and by 9am on the Friday, the situation was still the same. This site has potential but we felt let down on this occasion.

This site has a great location on the loch side
We visited just after a very busy weekend and the waste containers were overflowing, but this was soon rectified.
I had tried to book a pitch beforehand, and was told that they didn't take bookings so just to turn up. Fortunately, the site was quiet and we could pick our pitch, which we did. The views did not disappoint, we had a lovely loch view with mountains all around.
Toilet and shower facilities were adequate, but not up to CC standards.
Kinlochleven had everything you could need.
We would definitely visit again, but not at a busy time.

Stayed over the Easter weekend. Was wet Friday but ground was still hard 3.5 ton van didn't sink. Great views ideal for walking toilets nice and clean but cold I didn't see any heaters. Bus goes past site to kinlochleven and fortwilliam the Tailrace in Kinlochleven does good food and beer. Handy shops in Kinlochleven. Would I go back? yes as its a handy clean site.

The views from this campsite are incredible, Glencoe at its best. And I can see why this campsite is mentioned in Cool Camping book.
My Husband and I have just returned from this site after seeing it in the Cool Camping book and I have got to say the views and the Loch were just as the the book described, we pitched as near to the loch as our six man tent would let us. We wanted to have a bit of a slope so the water would not get us bogged down.
The ground was incredibly hard even after a huge amount of rain on the first night and second day. So a tip would be to have really good pegs. This was also handy when our second and third night the wind was very strong and we thought our tent was going to take off.!. If you are near to the water no real shelter so bare that in mind if its a bit gusty.
The down side to the camp was the toilet and shower block, a bit away from the tent and although clean looked very dated and shabby. The shower was hot but a bit of trickle ( not very stong). I also found getting dry and keeping your clothes dry in a small cubicle very difficult.
Another point to mention is the midges can be unbearable so you need to be prepared, Avon so Soft is good but not enough, so Midges nets are a must. The can be bought at Glencoe Spar. Building a fire on the beach/water edge is also recommended
Plus points - view, electric hookups fro tents in the really good pitches, plenty of room and not to busy.
Negative - as above toilets and showers
Overall a good site and worth a visit, just for the views

Excellent camp site! We pitched right on the edge of loch leven, magnificent views.
There's a co-op in Kinlochleven open til 8, a spar in glencoe also open til 8, and a village shop in kinlochleven open til 10. Fresh fish available from the seafood centre across the lock, some campers caught their own!
We walked around the loch, up the pap of glencoe and took a drive to loch ness, kept us busy all week!
There is a local bus service from kinlochleven to fort william via glencoe, runs about every 2 hours.
Only down side is that the showers aren't very powerful, not a big deal though.
The midges can be bad though. I wasn't too bad, but my girlfriend scratched her bites and came up in a rash. She tried all of the deterrents, none work, save your money!
