Tyn Rhos is excellent value for money. I've been several times over the years with my kids and decided to take their friends with us in June. It only cost us about £30 for the weekend for 2 adults and 4 kids. Great for families on a budget. The kids always make friends there as there's plenty of kids there for them to play with. Its in a great position with loads of open spaces for the kids to play and lovely beaches within walking distance. The owners were really friendly and quickly moved a large group on that were playing very loud rave music that decided to pitch near us. Overall a great site, good facilities, lots of open spaces and great beaches.

We spent 8 days on the site and on arrival I was having flashbacks to glastonbury in 98, we were placed in the centre of a large family group(around 25 people) who had obviously come for a good time! but they turned out to be very friendly and considerate noting that we had three small children so the laughing and music stopped around 10.30 pm apart from one tent in the top corner of the field who had bought their own rave with them(Dave the owner and his partner helped them pack, it was quite funny to watch)
Anyway onto the site, there are numerous fields to pitch in, all are well mown and pleasant. The toilet blocks are very clean as are the showers, the on site shop stocks a large array of food items and toys to keep the kids happy and is reasonably priced. The bar is situated around 50 yards from the main field(far enough so you don't hear it at night) Bert the barman is a cheerful fellow and very helpful, again the drinks and food are reasonably priced. The beaches in Treadur bat are a mixture of sand and pebble with the main beach being mostly sand, the water is also very clear and ideal for snorkelling. In all we enjoyed the site and will most definitely return.

I last came to this site over fifteen years ago and was pleasantly surprised. The walk to the beach was not too far for my two children aged seven and five and the owner gave us a safer route with having the children. The owners were always around asking if we were ok as we were camping without any men and without a car! The toilets and shower blocks were kept very clean, the only suggestion I would make is to have another block built, although we never had to wait to use them. We had a great time the kids loved the play area which was safe enough to let my five year old go to with his sister. We are already talking of going back next summer! We had a meal in the bar on site which was very reasonable and the food was good too.The shop on site sold your basic food like milk and bread as well as some gifts and sweets and it was just a walk down to the main road for the local shops not too far!

Just feel the need to add to the OLD! reviews of this fantastic (if basic) site. Yes it is basic, NO it is not filled with facilities but hey, that's why it is so perfect for young families. Being regular good weather campers we have tried out sites all over the country with and without club houses and pools and still keep returning to Tyn Rhos. The price reflects its amenities but not it's location. Granted the weather is at best a bit iffy! but on a good day it doesn't get much better -being surrounded by beaches either to walk, cycle or drive to. Bad weather - hey, it's never stopped our kids playing on the small but perfectly adequate play park. The feeling of safety is unquestionable, kids ranging from 3-12 usually in our groups (often mums and kids at holiday time). Being able to chill with friends whilst still being able to see kids at play or going to shop or toilet independently is priceless.

This was our first time as a family camping, the site is set in a great location the beaches around were great, the site is basic the toilets were very clean with plenty of hot water! kids loved the open fields, owners were very helpful and friendly. We only stayed for 1 night, I asked if I could pay extra to have a late departure but they said we could leave whenever we wanted which for two adults and three kids for 14 pounds is great. Only downside was that there was lots of people playing loud music late on, also this is a very windy site! Overall though a great base and would definitely go again

August 2005 it has been four years since we last visited this site the kids now 11 and 10 wanted to go back and see if things lived up to their memories!!! their first impression was the climbing frame had shrunk!! there are no pre-booked tent pitches you stick it where you can find a space.
It does get very busy over bank holiday weeek-ends and be warned there are usually large family gatherings on the site. There is only one toilet block and shower block and wash room(for your pots)for the whole site so you may have to queue and take your own loo roll! Dave the site manager, Alison his partner and his sister Olwen are very friendly and only too happy to help with any problems. Dave is always walking around to ensure there are no problems and picking up litter on his route.
There are plenty of walks to take and beautiful beaches to play on if we didn't live so far away we would visit a lot more

August 2005 Just got back from our first week at this camp site. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. I think for the price that the basic showers should have been free. However I found the showers and toilets although basic were always clean and rarely without toilet roll! The club house was great with good fairly priced food and a pool table. There were two shops of which one or both were open till 9pm. We were there during a bit of a bad storm but the ground is good for drainage so no getting bogged down even on the lower field that we were in. Will defo go back there again.

August 2004 Having read the previous reviews I must admit I was expecting something special. I must admit this site is nothing special. It is rather ordinary with no character at all. It is a massive site and when full, which it was when we were there, resembled something of a music festival. The toilet block and showers were clean enough, but one block for such a massive site, nowhere near enough. The owners were friendly and helpful though. All in all, not a bad site, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there. Paul & Janet, Bolton.

36 years My grandparents found this site in the 1950's and everyone from my extended family grew up there during the summer.
The site is a good basic one. The area is fantastic. Fishing is great. Walks, lighthouse and a trek up Holyhead Mountain. Walk to Lily Pond Bay. Beaches are like being in Ibiza. Just too much to mention, but if you like a holiday on a nice quiet site with none of the holiday camp feel this is the one. I visit all over the country and always compare it to this corner of Wales, which always comes out the BEST.
Maybe I shouldn't tell everyone or it will get like a lot of the new sites. Just have a great time.

last 15 year's+(may 07 2004) The site just gets better and better, Dave (the one who runs the site) is warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The site is clean and safe with hot water and clean loo's as well as clean showers that only cost pennies to use. The play area is just right for the young ones, while the club house near by (100 yds) has a great menu and is well priced and also clean and is open to all.
But best of all are the Beaches, the main one is great to swim and play and is great for kids and all manner of water sports but the best are the small coves just a small walk through the "Lee's" camp site, just walk past the shop and walk through the gate on to some of the best views you can get. Hope you love it as much as me and my wife and now my two boy's do and who Knows we might even see you there.. (it's worth a trip!) NEIL/EMMA
