Just had a four night stay here. We were on a 'super' pitch, electric/water/drain and TV socket.
Very generous sized pitch, which made our Compass 2 berth look lost.
Lovely wooded site (no good if you're after views) very quiet week days but weekends can be noisy, some dogs barking noise at night and in the wee small hours, but as we were leaving anyway, we didn't complain.
Toilets and shower blocks were very clean and had all the hot water you would need. Well stocked shop.
The access road is a little tight, but is easily negotiable with care.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Will be going back later this year.

Site is very peaceful and secluded. Pitches are hard standing and some are sideways to the road which means your awning opens on to the road through the touring park- a minor disadvantage with very young children. Play area is great for kids of all ages. Showers clean and tidy and plenty of hot water. Family room is brilliant and has baby changing, toilet and shower all in one room. Our 3yr old loved it. You could walk a long way around the grounds (but not up the paths with a pram says husband)and paddle at the lake shore. Shop was well stocked and not overly expensive. Interesting drive in down a steep hill! No pub nearby though

Gem of a site set in hilly woodland with a mile of Windermere water front. Ideal base if you
Want a quite site away from the crowds, but are looking for ease of access to visit and tour
The site has 230 static units and 43 pitches for tourers (no tents) all with hook ups, water and TV. The site occupies a large area with most of the touring pitches located in one convenient central area. The touring pitches are all numbered hardstanding with lots of space - strong pins are required. Slight downside is most of the touring pitches do not have views of the lake, but there is plenty of access to the lake including launch facilities for boats and several jetties. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Shop is well stocked. One nice thing was not being presented with ‘book of rules’ and site had very few notices with the does and don’ts. Good clean toilet block with free showers and hot water. Apparently these are being full refitted at the end of this season - so what is now very good should be even better next year. Also was a good site for dogs, plenty of walks within site and the trees provided lots of shade. We will certainly be back and would highly recommend this site for anyone visiting the Southern area of Windermere.

Just returned from 4 nights at Hill of Oaks. Very nicely kept site. Very clean and warm toilet/shower blocks. Nice laundry. Large hardstanding pitches. Lovely marked out walks around the site. Nice childrens play area. Well stocked shop with friendly staff. Good access to the lake, with picnic areas on the edge. 10 minutes in the car from Bowness, which has plenty of shops. Would definitely return.

My husband and I, and our two dogs just got home after five nights at Hill of Oaks. Our previous caravan holidays (this is only our third) have all been at quite small sites, so this was quite a surprise.
We arrived on the Saturday and the touring part of the park was quite busy and space was rather limited, as the people in the pitch opposite had rather spread out, this made getting into position quite a tricky prospect.
The site was nice though, although the electricity supply wasn't fantastic it was sufficient. My husband was rather upset becuase despite TV hookups, we couldn't pick up any channels. The wash block was clean and warm and the hot showers were a bonus!
A small well stocked shop and helpful staff. All in all a nice site, although it felt as though the statics were the priority, with tourers as an afterthought.

We stayed here over the May 2007 half term holidays and were squeezed in by very helpful staff (no advance booking made by ourselves). The huge site has loads of statics tastefully and spaciously nestled down the hillside of lake Windermere (we were sited on the site of a recently removed static). The touring pitches, all hard standing, no tents, are close to the shop and lake shore but wouldn't actually have a lake view; the whole site is in woodland so is sheltered but lacking in lake views - it's like you're camping in a forest. The lake shore is great for paddling in, picnicking by and of course, launching boats. The toilet block is great - adjustable temp showers, copious hot water, free hair dryer - even local radio piped in. Family room (no bath). Laundry room with iron and laundry basket. Great play area to cater for smaller and larger kiddies. This is just a really great site and we would definitely recommend and return.

We stayed here over may bank holiday. Nice park set in woodland, lovely picnic spots right on edge of lake. Small shop but adequate for needs. Touring area fairly open but lost sun late afternoon when it went behind trees. Pitches all hard standing, ok, but we like to see a bit of grass. All pitches come with electric and own water tap. Cannot agree with the site being quiet at night, we suffered loud music from 11pm until 1.15am from a camper van near us. The management do not have a policy in place for nuisance noise and were not very sympathetic when we complained.

This is a lovely site in woods right on lake shore. Facilities were immaculate -excellent free & roomy showers with no yucky shower curtains. No queueing either. Very friendly & helpful staff, camp shop has all the basics and there is a good children's play area. Site is nice & and quiet at night. Nearest village is Newby Bridge.

July 2005 Visited Hill of Oaks a couple of weeks ago - what can I say? Beautiful park, immaculately kept, great facilities and in a beautiful setting. If you are looking for clubs etc this isn't for you but if you're looking for a great setting and accessible for all of the lake district then this is the one.

August 2004 Visited this site in August 04. What a lovely site, staff friendly, nice shop although small it has all the essentials. There is also a small laundry room. The shower blocks are clean and well maintained. It is quite a large site but you would never know it, as the statics are all nestled into the woodland and not in rows. We stayed on a super pitch, which had its own electric/water/tv and drainage. The pitches are very spacious with enough room for a awning, car and boat. There are lots of jettys and slipways on site. There is also an excellent childrens adventure park on site. The entrance is a bit narrow and bendy and care needs to be taken, but its well worth it. Only gripe, only one washing machine and one tumble dryer. Would definitely recommend, especially if you enjoy waterbased activities.
