We found this to be a very clean, tidy and well managed site. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we were made to feel really welcome upon our arrival and throughout our stay. The facilities on this site were very clean and tidy at all times. The swimming pool was cleaned and inspected daily. The club house was very warm and friendly with good old fashioned entertainment, everything about this site is family orientated and about everyone enjoying their holiday. There are plenty of electric hookups and water points. The onsite shop is well stocked with most things you will need to help you enjoy your stay. Looe its self is within walking distance although the walk back is not recommended as it is uphill all the way.
Looe is a pretty little fishing village with loads of little seaside shops for browsing. There are loads of tourist attractions and beaches close by,in fact everything you need to enjoy your holiday is here. Best wishes Toni and Rob

August 2005 A large campsite, well organised and with pleasant staff. Pitches are quite close together - we were on an edge but I wouldn't have wanted to be in the middle. Nice small pool, lovely for children. Plenty of loos and showers (pressure a bit variable), with loo roll and soap provided! Clean and you would be unlucky to have to walk far. Cafe (grandly called a bistro) is expensive for what you get but is useful for obtaining a portion of chips or a jacket potato to go with your own food. Reception has basic foodstuffs and bits of equipment and will freeze ice packs for 10p each. Internet access also available if work is pressing. There is entertainment every night and a film in addition - we didn't use these facilities but they didn't impinge in terms of noise where we were at the top of the site. The electricity tripped out every night which was a pain considering the substantial additional cost for the facility.

August 2005 We spent the first two weeks of August at Tregoad - our second visit after a rather cold Easter 2004.
Investment by the new owners in the site is really showing well, with a new (smallish) heated pool and a huge extension to the bar.
Again, we were impressed by the site and its facilities, but most of all by the helpful and friendly staff. The high point is probably the bistro / bar and entertainment laid on most nights by Peter, the owner. Usually a children's disco plus a quiz or similar.
This is a very good site for young families, and there are relatively few teenagers. It is, in my opinion, the only site I have visited in the UK which approaches the quality of the best continental sites.
Only complaints were a degree of noise in the evening (although generally dead quiet by 23:30), and some pitches are on the small side. If you can, avoid the "camping field" and pay the extra for a pitch.
Very, very highly recommended.

June 2005 Lovely site with really helpful and friendly staff. Nice size pitches although it was slightly sloped. Kids play area was great, also was the swimming pool. The bar was a bit of a dissapointment as it wasn't open every night and there was no entertainment on. Also couldn't get food as only served in high season (2nd week of july), games room for the kids which was only open when the bar was and also crazy golf.
Toilet blocks were always clean and there was always hot water (sometimes too hot) 4 showers (free) which didnt need to queue for.
We ended up leaving a day early due to a flooded tent! (staff were great, really helpful. even offering us there own accomodation to do kids breakfasts and dress in etc)
All in all a fantastic week and we will definitely return but a little later on in the season.

June 2005 We turned up at the site when it was pouring with rain, we could not see further than 50 yards in front due to the mist and cloud, and the weather was rotten! However, once we arrived in the shop, the staff were in good spirits and very welcoming, and directed us to our mud bath pitch for the week!
After the initial soggy start, there is a lot to be said for Looe. The pubs are warm and dry, and you can take your dog into most pubs, even when you want a sit down meal. You can also take your dog into the onsite bistro/ bar which has TVs and music, and a games room for kids (and adults:).The dog walk area on site is not huge, and not everyone seems to clear up after their dog... so don't wear your flip flops in that field!
Toilet blocks could do with attention in the shower department. If you are in the bottom field near the reception, the showers are great, but on the top field they are push button operated, and either come out as a dribble, or the water shoots over your head and misses you totally. The hairdryers are but a puff of air, so if you must dry your hair, take your own!
Overall, the site is immaculate and very well run. On a clear day the sea views are fantastic, and you can see birds of prey souring in the sky above you. If you are up early enough you can race the pheasants round the toilet block, and see all the rabbits running for cover.
This is an excellent base for exploring the rest of Cornwall, as the roads are well marked and maintained. We recommend doing the coastal path walk from Looe to Polperro (its about 5 miles) then get the bus back for £1.20. For a very hot meal with plenty of taste, and a pint, The Ship in Looe, and you have to try the stilton and broccoli quiche in The Noughts & Crosses in Polperro... (both allow dogs) But if you would rather hang around the camp site, you will meet some wonderful people, both staff and campers (say hello to Bob and Mavis by the top toilet block).
Bear in mind that dogs are not allowed on Cornish beaches, but if you go to West Looe you can park for free all day on the road and dogs are allowed in the sea from the rocks/ beach there. We also went to Seaton where there is a huge grey beach, and dogs are allowed on there too.
We will definitely be visiting again, and would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone. There is a good mix of tents/ caravans and trailer tents, families, couples young and old. But book in plenty of time, as you would not want to miss out on such a beautiful site. Happy Camping

May 2005 Just spent 4 nights over Whitsun at Tregoad and had a great time. Five of us including 3 kids, 11 to 15. The site is pretty high up so can be a little windy, compensated though by great views of the surrounding countryside and the sea in some areas. Most of the pitches are terraced, but unlike other terraced sites we have been to, are of a very good size and are all flat.(saying that, we were in a caravan, have to say some of the tent pitches did seem to be on quite a slope).
There is an open air swimming pool (heated)which the kids loved, but the adults wimped out of! Should imagine would be great in full summer though. The bar has laid back entertainment, which we much prefer to boom boom, and was very reasonable. The playground is good for younger kids, ours were a little bored at times, and the only real gripe we had was the lack of anywhere decent to play ball games. The owner has opened up a field at the top of the site for this, but really only suitable for flying a kite really.. very long grasses. There did look to be a very good dog walk. The toilets and showers could do with updating but were kept clean and well maintained by the owners. Be careful though.. the water is very hot!!.
Oh nearly forgot to mention the cinema.. a great idea.. usually £1 to watch the films... dont think the owner charged once while we were there though.. nice touch.Films were shown at 7 and 9pm.. so the kids can go and watch a film ( just downsatirs)while mum and dad have a drink.
All in all we liked the park, the owners are very friendly,so we would definitely go the again. One more thing.. if you do go to this site you must visit Polperro... just down the coast.. a lovely old Cornish fishing village.

August 2004 We had a 2 week stay at Tregoad during August but had to bail out after 10 days due to the bad weather. A friendly site, which felt safe enough to let the kids run about on their own without worry. Bistro was nice (if a bit pricey) and the evenings in the Bar were fun and family oriented. The views from the site were fantastic and the site itself was very pretty and quite peaceful compared to others.
The Laundry was tiny and often out of service, so we used one in the local town which provided excellent service washes.
The pool is small ( and a bit cool) but handy for the kids, who loved it.
We were very impressed by the Manager's attitude to noisy/badly behaved teenagers. During the evenings in the Bar he announced that such behaviour would not be tolerated and the families in question would be asked to leave the site if they could not keep their kids under control.
We will defintely go there again.

August 2004 We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this campsite, despite the apalling weather. We have three young children and felt it was safe enough to let the little ones roam. The pool was lovely (but very cold led to believe it was heated?) Night time entertainment was good and family orientated. Only downside was it was a trek to toilet facilities and we had a sloping pitch, all ended up huddled together in a corner of the tent at night. This wasnt ideal. Would definately go back again but would ask for a level pitch next time. Went peak season and didn't have to queue for showers. Shower block was clean and showers hot. Mop left to clean showers after use which I thought was good idea as most people cleaned them. Owners were lovely and put a lot of effort in making your stay enjoyable. Lots of regulars in caravans whose caravans stayed throughout season, they definately had best pitches . Overall rating 9/10

August 2004 A plesant site a couple of miles from Looe - the campsite has friendly staff and owners - the pitch we were given was very large and therefore not to close to our neighbours.
The shop is basic, just the essentials, the bistro / bar were good and the food ok though limited menu. Entertainment of some kind every night. Other facilities included games room, cinema!, swimming pool and small play area. The owners are obviously upgrading parts of the site to improve the campsite. The toilets/shower block were a disappointment, not enough shower cubicles, most of the sinks without plugs, only two sinks for washing up and to be honest not the cleanest or best maintained.
That was the only downside, apart from the weather, for an otherwise family friendly campsite

August 2004 Tregoad is a good, small, site willing to take bookings for only short stays even in high season. The bar / restaurant was fine with good food, play area okay for younger kids but the site lacked a play area for ball games etc. Swimming pool small but adaquate (no changing facilities though). Showers and toilets clean but in need of updating. Family bathrooms cost £1 for half hour and were clean and smart. Games room and cinema reasonably priced. Well stocked shop. Site is very sloped in places, pitches with electric best! We couldn't find any washing up area but there were loads of water points and a good launderette. We would return for another short break!
