August 2005 Pitches are free for all so no great restrictions. Ground was rock hard so bring a mallet for your pegs. On-site facilities are very good (shop, outside pool, fishing and pub) Only downside was the communal toilet block near the tent pitches. They are carpeted and naturally become very smelly, that'll be the men's fault, and best avoided. However, there are gender toilets near the shop which were better.

July 2005 We stayed here for 11 nights having originally booked for 5. It was probably the best holiday we have ever had!! The (super) pitches were large hardstanding with hedges or dry stane dykes separating them. All of the super pitches had tv, water and waste hookup. There are plenty of dog walks. The shop is well stocked and reasonably priced. Games room is ok with usual kids amusements, pool tables and full size snooker table. The Lairds Inn at the back of he site appears to be a separate business from the site. On arrival the wife was told that the food was very good. I was a bit sceptical "they would say that" however having tried I can only say it is one of the best meals (pub grub) we have had. Reasonably priced for both meals and drinks. The outdoor pool was very good and warm, the indoor pool was not used very much and we found out that it didn,t have a shallow end.....not very good for kids. All in all that was the only fault and have to say that it is well worth a visit...as new caravanners we feel rather spoilt and anywhere else will have to be brillant to better this site. We will be back.

September 2004 Have stayed on this site many times over a period of about 8 years. Kids now late teens but still enjoy going there. One of few sites we've ever been back to more than twice.
Well spaced out pitches; warm outdoor pool (never used indoor one - outdoor one always good enough even in rain!)bathrooms larger than home; excellent shop facilities and a good pub/food. Plus friendly staff and holidaymakers.
Even when it rains there are things to do locally and the Galloway Forest Park nearby is great for picnics/bike rides/walking.
Well worth a visit.

July 2004 We have been to this camp site twice now the first time was in 2003 and the second in 2004 and we certainly hope to go back to it. The camp site is just around the corner from a small village called creetown wich has everything you need like: a groceries, two bars (serving food), a church and a few shops. There is a path from the site that will lead you straight into the village.
The campsite is very clean and gets 10/10 by me the toilet/shower blocks a massive and a about the size of a normal bath room (not just the size of a cupboard like most)they a very clean because they are cleaned daily.
The pitches are also very big we had a pitch right across from the castle wich at night looked fantastic as it was all lit up. Be wary about leaving your tent / awning open at any time (especially night) as you could get a visit from some rabbits. Inside the castle is the bar which serves food although we didn't get any it looked and smelt fantastic.
There was an indoor and outdoor pool both times we were there the outdoor pool was closed because ot only opens from May onwards. The indoor pool isinside a heated room like a sauna.
Next to reception is a small loch for fishing in. At reception you can also hire bikes because there are alot of brilliant bike rides near the site.

April 2005 On arrival at this site we were greeted by an extremely helpful and pleasant young lady who directed us to our pitch, and what pitches they were!!!! Huge doesn't come into it! hard standing and well laid out, there are a good few fully serviced pitches but we opted for the standard and were certainly not dissapointed. All our neighbours were very friendly (seasonal pitches). I defy anyone to try count the number of wee rabbits running, not to mention the ducks and geese.
On site there is an outdoor pool which was closed when we visited, and an indoor pool also. The shop is adequate and there is a good games room and an adults only snooker room. Unfortunately we never visited the onsite restuarant and bar but by all accounts is is very good as it has just been taken over by new people.
Very relaxing site with toilet facilities that have to be seen ! Excellent showers as well, I really have nothing negative to say about this site and will be a frequent visitor.

July 2004 Stayed here for 2 weeks camping, lots of space for tents. Great play area for the kids. Nice clean toilet and shower facilities-with radiators to dry your towels. The water pressure in the showers can drop a little low if a lot of people are washing their dishes. The outdoor pool is really warm compared to the indoor pool which is quite cool and was not used very much when we were there. Good games room and shop. The campsite is generally well kept and clean. The abundance of rabbits keeps the grass short. The main road the A75 offers a quick route for accessing Newton Stewart and Kirkcudbright.

April 2000 Me and my hubby stayed here the year before our son was born and we loved it.
If we ever get the time to go again we will. The staff were friendly, nice pub serving nice meals. The pool looked nice as well.
Top marks would definately have to go to the toilets/showers, which to enter you had to type in a pin number, but you must be aware they are unisex facilities, but look like something out of a hotel room. Each shower was in its own big cubicle, with a basin, plenty of room for 2? They were so nice we even took pictures of them, as they are not you're typical camp site facilties.
The site is set in the grounds of a castle, all the children looked like they were enjoying themselves.
Also in the village there were 2 fantastic pubs, kicking out time does not exist, which at the time we thought was fantastic, with gaelic band music on weekend nights
Fantastic Stay.
