We have spent a lovely weekend at Lower Foxhangers. The toilets were clean and well looked after. The site itself was clean, quiet and had great scenery. Plenty of water taps on site. The only downside was the trek to the toilets but otherwise a great little site. Really nice walk to devizes along the canal path and the Caen Hill Locks are a very impressive sight. Very reasonable price as you are charged by the pitch, not by how many people there are in your group (there were 8 of us!)

Great weekend.Thanks

Only stayed 1 night - wish I could have stayed more.

Perfectly positioned a few hundred yards from The Kennett and Avon canal, and the famous Caen Hill locks.

The site was on a gentle slope, well maintained and the pitches well spaced. The ground looked well drained, and not likely to get very muddy. A good number of water taps spaced over the site, and the rubbish bins kept tidy.

The owner was welcoming and helpful, and let me choose a pitch, as they were not that busy.

The site has 2 blocks of toilets/showers, both unisex. The older one has 2 toilets and a shower - ok, and kept clean, the newer block has 2 toilets and 2 showers, plus a disabled toilet/shower and also houses the 3 dishwashing sinks. All these facilities were in excellent condition. And the owner had even provided washing up liquid/cloths etc - a very nice touch.

My only complaint was the route march from the pitch to the facilities - if you are right at the top ends of the field, then it is going to be at least 400yrds to get to them! Minor point, but worth noting if it is raining.

No shops nearby, and I didn't look for the pubs. But Devizes is a few miles away, down the main road, or along the towpath.

Overall I would be glad to return to this site - and would recommend it.

Just returned from this site, very clean and tidy, no pressure to leave! Thought that they could of had more facilities - 3 dishwashing sinks, 3 showers, 3 toilets and 1 disabled toilet. However all spotlessly clean and didn't have to wait long for them - not sure if we always timed it right! The walks to the pubs were good and the 29 locks fascinating to see. Would definitely recommend to somebody looking for a basic quiet campsite in nice surroundings. A small shop selling fresh basics would of been nice, just bread and milk nothing exotic however there was a cottage there that did sell fresh eggs. Farmer very friendly and helpful!

We booked this site for 3 nights really on the basis of its location next to a canal,as my husband likes fishing. We have a campervan, so the facilities are not as critical to us as to campers. However, it was still really pleasing to find great facilities - the showers are free, have really good water pressure (quite a rarity on campsites in my experience) and are immaculately clean, as are the toilets and washing up area. The owner was really friendly and helpful on arrival, and the pitch was ideal.

The only slight criticism I would have is that it is quite a walk round to the toilet block from the second field (like going round 2 sides of a triangle) - if a pedestrian width break could be put in the hedge in the second field then people on the second field would have their walk to the facilities more than halved. It would also stop a fairly frequent procession of campers walking through the first field to walk right round to get to the toilet block. This only affected us in a minor way as we were on the pitch closest to the route - still, as we sat outside and ate our dinner we got to talk to a lot of passing people!

The campsite is ideally located for the canal, it is literally a 2 minute walk away. The Caen Locks are something to see, and the teashop at the top is most welcome when you've cycled up, as we did! The Barge Inn (turn left on the towpath and cycle for 20 minutes) is in a lovely spot right by the canal and the food is superb, a bit more pricey than standard pub fare, but well worth it - I can thoroughly recommend the white chocolate and pistachio nut creme brulee!

You can hear traffic noise from the nearby A road, the volume varies according to wind direction, but as its a constant distant noise I didn't find it disturbing at all (and I need quiet to sleep).

My husband loved the fishing, and we will definitely be returning to this campsite in a couple of months so he can fish again. Oh, and the price was really reasonable, especially for high season - we paid £13/night for campervan on a hardstanding, with electric hook up, which I think is really good value. Can't wait to return.

Pitched here for the first time in August 2007.  Found the site to be perfectly adequate for camping.
The owners were helpful at all times.
Toilet and shower facilities were clean and well maintained.
Site was perfectly situated for walking beside the canal with the dog and viewing all the locks.  Ideal pubs situated beside canal were the Black Horse in Devizes, The Three Magpies in Sells Green and The Barge in Seend Cleeve.
Will definitely use again in 2008 !

We had to book this site as a group booking at the last minute after our regular site let us down (double booking) and all I can say is thank god they did.

We visited the site on the weekend of the 15th June 02 and could not have asked for a better setting. The views are spectacular, the site clean and tidy, the new toilet / shower block has all the mod cons and the owners are polite, helpful and very accommodating.

The surrounding area is brimming with things to do and places to see and the local hostelries keep a very good pint and the food locally is excellent.

We will certainly be back, hopefully this year. Highly recommended.

Our 1st time away, what a great site, really enjoyed it.  The shower and toilet block were really clean, with lots of hot water.  Plenty of space for the kids to play and lovely walks along the canal.

The only downfall was a slight slope on the field.  Will definitly  stay there again.

Visited here for 5 nights and had a lovely time. Plenty to do and the surrounding area is beautiful. The sight is nice and clean, as are the toilets. However, the one shower available is cramped, dirty and in need of updating.
Ideal if your looking for a short, quiet stay.

Stopped here in may, well, what can I say, very wet, very very wet, if you have booked this site and had heavy rain before your due to visit, please take note. There is absolutely no drainage on this site, our caravan had to be towed on site by a tractor which only cut the field up further. I really felt sorry for the couple who had to pitch there tent on what can be said was little more than a swamp. Facilities were a little bit to be desired, 1 shower which was very small and 2 toilets, bins were overflowing with rubbish. I'm sure this campsite is ok when its dry.

Plus point, loads of things to do, the amazing site of Caen Hill locks, mystical stone circles, white horses and Bath not to far away. Loads of places to walk, Devizes only up the road or 1hr walk via canal

This was our first trip away and had no idea what to expect. Fortunately we had chocks because the site is sloping. The hookup would not take anything more than the lighting. Even our low output microwave was too much for it. The toilet /shower block is only small with one shower and 2 toilets. Anyone using the potwash is immediately "in the way" for someone needing to use the toilets or showers because it's located in the doorway. Care should be taken not to get scalded because the temperature of the shower is affected too by someone using the potwash facilities.

As the site is compact it was also very friendly. Just as well we took everything with us or I think we would have been stuck as there are no shops or pubs within easy walking distance. We liked it and are planning to return in the near future.
