What a great site! Just got back and despite the weather being generally poor, the rest of our stay was superb. When we arrived, we were met by Adam who immediately took us around the whole property. He was very generous with his time and made us feel right at home. We had a tent and therefore access to the best pitch on the site, which is the far side of the pond. What a lovely location! Although only about thirty yards from the shower and toilet block, it feels like a little world all on its own, which suited us perfectly. The site is kept spotlessly clean and there has obviously been a lot of love (and sweat!) poured into it over the last few years, to get it and keep it looking so good. Loads of the people that we met keep their caravans at the site and have them stored in or around the barns. They seem to return year on year, which is always a good sign. The area is spectacular, with great walking and cycling to be had. There are amazing chateaux and vineyards galore with every village seeming prettier than the last. Le Puy Du Fou is incredible and well worth a visit. In all, this is a great site, which is well run and in an ideal location.

This is a very nice site. We received a warm welcome from Theresa when we finally arrived. Travelling up from the south of France, you miss the sign for the site as it is positioned for the traffic travelling from the North to the South. The shower block is spotless as are the veg prep areas. The pitches are large and have enough room between them so you’re not on top of each other. The sites are situated around the edge of a large field so you’re not directly overlooking your neighbour. There is no shop here but the village is only a few minutes by car. Final payment cannot be made by credit card, so make sure you have enough to cover your final bill. Internet is only 3 Euros for your stay, very cheap. There is also a fishing pond where we managed to catch a good number of fish. The only negative thing I have to say is about the pool. The website says a plunge pool and the picture is a very cleaver one making the pool look much larger than it is. It is actually an above ground pool. A very minor point, but I was looking forward to something bigger. This is a very nice site and I would highly recommend it.

I think it's always worth a repeat review to keep up to date. Well if it could be possible this site just gets better and better. We store here and our 'van was looking very spic and span having been cleaned before put on the pitch by Adam ready for our arrival. Can't speak too highly of what a family friendly place it is and returning is like a family get together. All the good comments from satisfied customers are certainly spot on. Loved watching the birds of prey and other wildlife around. Caravan tyres were a bit soft from sitting and Adam produced a very efficient air pump and line at the drop of a hat. Hats off to Theresa and all her family for the excellent 'tres propre' condition of all the facilities Ed/Liz

Having camped in a few places in the UK this was our first trip abroad, we were a bit sceptical and had no idea what to expect. However this site is the best we have ever been to. The owners, Adam and Theresa are the nicest people you could ever meet who have opened up their home and fabulous surroundings for us all to enjoy. They both work exceptionally hard at making it a place anyone would feel welcome at.
Adam never stops, nor does his son, when he is home from school is can often be seen out and about mowing lawns and generally helping out Dad, moving caravans into the right pitch for the next new comer to arrive.
Theresa very kindly came and gave us a weather warning that she had received regarding the wind levels. She advised us how to tighten everything down so as not to loose anything or turn innocent objects into missiles.
The information they have available is invaluable, from tourist attractions to local shops with opening times. Be warned rural parts of France shut on Sundays so please make sure you have everything you need before then. This really is in the middle of nowhere which was exactly what we were looking for. Even our twelve year old have fun playing with the other children and dipping in the pool when the weather got to warm.
I cannot express enough what a wonderful place this is. If I would swap with Adam and Theresa and live here permanently I would.

My wife and I have just spent a fantastic 10 days at Le Serpolin - what a gem of a campsite! Although we camp regularly in the UK, it was our first camping trip abroad and we certainly landed on our feet - Le Serpolin is a just what we were looking for. We were attracted by the fact that it was a small site (only 8 pitches) in the beautiful Anjou region of the Loire Valley. It's situated near a small village called Clere sur Layon and is very rural, so is lovely and quiet and a great place to relax and unwind.
We had a very warm welcome from owners Adam and Theresa who offered us a nice cold beer after a long trip from Calais - which hit the spot perfectly! We were shown around the site and had a great level pitch with electric hook up. The showers and toilets were lovley and clean, with plenty of hot water. Great washing up areas inside and out, a fridge freezer, and use of a washing machine on request. There was also good local information on display for days out, and plenty of maps of the local area which was really helpful. Adam and Theresa had also compiled some folders with information on restaurants and towns which was a good idea.
Le Serpolin has a great little plunge pool which was fantastic as the week we went it was really hot. There is also a communal barbeque area, boule area, table tennis table, a few swings and a great little pond full of fish who enjoy being fed!
Supermarkets are reasonably close by and some of the small villages have the usual bakers and grocers shops once you know where they are. The site itself is about 35km south west of Samaur, which is well worth a visit, as are some of the chateaus, troglodyte caves and villages, and the local vineyard for a wine tasting. To be honest there is such a lot to see in the area that you will not get bored!
All in all a brilliant trip. Adam and Theresa work hard to really make you feel welcome. We would recommend this site to anyone!

Stayed at La Serpolin for a week at the end of May and had the best week. The site is small but very clean and the pitches spacious. The facilities were spot on with well maintained showers and toilets and a freezer for ice blocks. There is a boules run, table tennis, kids swings and plunge pool. Adam and Theresa were exceptionally friendly and our son played with their son everyday when he came home from school. It was the perfect base for exploring the Loire region and for wine tasting. We will definitely be returning and can't wait!

Visited for the first time on recommendation of reviews via ukcampsite.Co.Uk - we weren't disappointed. Long drive from Calais but a warm welcome from Adam and his family which continued throughout our two week stay.
Toilets and showers were kept clean and tidy (2 of each) and the whole site was very well maintained. Lots of room for your caravan / tent (or even both!) on each of the plots. No restrictions on sun umbrellas or gazebo's. Good 'splash' pool for keeping cool.
Lots of brochure information, and Adam and Theresa are able to provide good local knowledge of places to eat etc. Rural site which meant not a lot of passing traffic and so peaceful, but only 15 minutes away from a SuperU. Easy access from whichever route you took from the site to main towns and lots of wonderful scenery - plenty to see and do - if you wanted!
We had such a relaxing peaceful stay away from our hectic worklife we didn't want to go home. So. We left our trailer tent there (Adam provides reasonable rates for storage) and will be returning in September 2010 and 2011! Thank you to Adam and his family for a lovely stay - keep practising the archery Adam!

We are about to return after a really successful visit last year. This is a great quiet site with good facilities. When we arrived late Friday night without any alcohol (horror!) Adam found some for us! This is a great position to visit vineyards and site see locally.
What we really liked was the location it is far enough away from everything to be peaceful and yet it is only a short car journey away from the supermarket.

We arrived at camping le serpolin in September and were greeted with a cup of tea made by Theresa, I think she could tell we just had a long journey. We camped in a perfect little spot near the pond, Theresa and Adam are really nice folk and were very helpful with any questions we asked. Good showers and toilet block, had a dip in the plunge pool too. Lovely. Bike riding is good in this area. No cars on roads. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go, really rural site, but only a short journey by car to shops for your supplies. Really enjoyed our stay.

My family stayed at the gite for a week in August. Upon our arrival, after a long days travelling we were welcomed with a nice glass of wine from the owner. The gite was lovely, clean and well equipped. The setting of the campsite is rural, quiet and had fantastic views. We inspected the shower and toilet block which were immaculately clean. It had various leaflets of places of interest and a map. There is a communal bbq, petanque, a large pond which you can fish from a plunge pool which the kids went in a lot even when it was not that warm! Adam, Theresa, Hayley and Taylor are excellent hosts. My two children loved the 'Den' and thoroughly enjoyed playing with Hayley and Taylor. Adam and Theresa recommended a restaurant in nearby Argenton which was fantastic, Restaurant du Lac. It was 17 euros for a 3 course meal and the food was absolutely first class. We visited Saumur, canoed in Argenton (highly recommended by the kids and my husband) and also went to the lovely swimming pool there (open 2.45 - 7pm) which was 8 euros for a family of 4. On site, we could order croissants and bread in the evening to be delivered in the morning. The Super you in Vihiers is the nearest, about 15 minutes drive. Saumur was approx 40 minute drive with lots of shops, river trips, wine tours etc. I cannot recommend this site enough. We all felt quite sad when we left as we had enjoyed our stay so much and we will definitely be back. If you like quiet sites with fantastic views and friendly and helpful owners then this is the site for you!
