This is a lovely quiet campsite. Perfect facilities and spotless shower and toilets. Adam and Theresa are really friendly and welcoming. Adam brought us a nice cold beer on our arrival just what we needed after the long journey. The area is beautiful and the campsite is perfectly placed for exploring it. If you want a nice little peaceful campsite with excellent facilities and perfect hosts then I can't recommend this site more highly.

Spent a glorious 3 weeks on site. The facilities are exactly as advertised, large warm plunge pool, pond full of carp, pitches are very spacious and very flat, most are in full sun however there is plenty of shade to be had if required. The toilet/shower block was kept immaculately clean with fantastic hot powerful showers. Both indoor and outdoor washing up facilities again with copious amounts of hot water. In the heart of the wine growers region of Anjou, plenty of caves to visit, the Anjou Rose is a delight. Various large hypermarkets all within easy reach. Can especially recommend the Hotel Auberge in Doue le Fontaine for a first class evening meal especially if for a special occasion. Site was extremely peaceful and met some lovely people. Adam and Theresa are very friendly and very helpful and the site is a credit to them. The bring a bottle evenings are a total hoot and should not be missed. If you are looking for total relaxation, peace and quiet this site is a must as in our 3 week stay our fellow caravanners were all adults only which for us made the perfect holiday in view of our off spring having now grown and flown the nest. Back again in October and cant wait.

We stopped off at Camping Le Serpolin a couple of days into our drive from Paris to Nice and it was without doubt one of the highlights of our week.
Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Loire Valley we were never short of things to do, from wine-tasting at the local vineyards to speeding around the brilliant International Karting Circuit (only a 10 minute drive from the campsite).
The campsite facilities are top-notch as well - lovely showers and toilets (made a nice change from the previous campsite we visited where nothing worked!), a luxurious Gite which convinced us to stay an extra night and a nice big pond full of Carp for anyone who doesn't mind having a lazy day fishing with a few beers (Adam and Theresa were kind enough to lend us their fishing rods for the afternoon).
We can't recommend the campsite highly enough, Adam and Theresa are fantastic hosts and we hope to be back again one year!

This was our first trip to Europe with our caravan. We were very tired from our journey but was greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, and a much appreciated glass of wine. It was a quite site, situated in the beautiful countryside. It was similar to CL's in the UK. We were staying for two weeks, hoping we had left the rain behind us in the UK. Adam, Theresa and their two children, Hayley and Taylor were fantastic hosts. Nothing was ever too much trouble. They made you feel right at home and part of the family. They organized a BBQ for everyone on the site. This was excellent because it enabled everyone to meet and talk about the best places to visit. After that night it seemed like we were part of an even BIGGER family. The campsite has an immaculate toilet block with showers and a private washing area. An indoor washing up facility, which also has a freezer for the campers to use, free of charge. Our children were able to enjoy the use of many outdoor games, as well as the use of Adam's family swimming pool. The surrounding countryside is great for walking and cycling. Adam and Theresa had made up a book of places to eat and visit. This we found very helpful. We were so impressed with this site and the hospitality we received, we have decided to go back again in 2008.

My husband and I stayed in one of Adam and Theresas caravans with our toddler daughter in August. Right from the word go when I first contacted Adam about booking the caravan, all we encountered was exemplery service and wonderful friendliness. We had never taken our daughter camping before let alone in a caravan, and Adam and Theresa had never had a toddler let loose in one of theirs so it was a first for us all. Nevertheless they were wonderfully accomodating of our slightly different needs. When we arrived we were greeted with a cool beer and glass of wine, which just set the precedant for what was to be a truly relaxing week. The campsite itself is beautiful, a perfect size for those who don't do crowds. Enough people there for there to be a lovely communal atmosphere, but never overcrowded. The facilities were excellent - good showers and spotlessly clean. What a wonderful idea it is to have a fridge for the use of campers who otherwise can not keep perishable goods - as with many other things at le Serpolin, it is the little touches that make such a difference. There is a little play area which is great for the younger ones and plenty of green space for older kids to kick a football around or play frisbee etc. There was a great plunge pool, which again was kept spotless and the BBQ and Boules area is just perfect for lovely evenings. Adam gave us a guided tour of the whole site and we were really impressed with the storage - such a simple idea but so useful if you are lucky enough to own a mobile home / caravan. There is a lot of local information available and both Adam and Theresa are only to happy to help if you have any questions. From our point of view the zoo at Doue La Fontaine is well worth a visit. We wouldn't hesitate to go back, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn't have asked for friendlier, more welcoming hosts.

We have stayed about six times on the Le Serpolin campsite. Our first time was when the present owners were in the process of taking over. What attracted us to the site was that it was an 'Adults Only' site, with no children. The site now welcomes children but because it's small (like a UK CL type site) it's not a problem. There is a playground and lots of space for them to play in. Everytime we have stayed here Adam and Theresa have made us so welcome it's literally like coming home. They welcome you with a cup of tea or a beer. The site is spotlessly clean, the toilet block is 'par excelance' with lots of hot water, toilets have 'papier' and the wash basin has hand soap and proper towels, how many French (or UK sites) have that. All the pitches have 6 amp hook ups, but I reckon they are nearer 10 amps. New for 2008 is a broadband wifi internet connection (so you can still keep in touch with UKCampsite.co.uk) how cool's that. The site is kept immaculate with Adam never letting the grass get out of hand and Theresa's cleaning abilities coming to the fore. She cleans the toilet block as if it was part of her home and it very nearly is. It's completely separate but attached to their home. There is a huge freezer that you are welcomed to use if you wish at no extra cost.
The site has a new boules pitch, BBQ and eating area. They also put on impromptue BBQ soirees in the evenings and everyone is invited bring your own food and wine and a great time is had by all. There is also a small lake/pond that is stocked with piranhas. They are actually carp and nearly jump out of the water when you go to feed them (they eat anything) but are too easy to catch, so no challenge for the keen fisherman. There are plenty of lakes round and about if you do like fishing.
The area is as most people know is very picturesque with lots to do and see. The nearest large town is Saumur but there are smaller town that have lots of attraction with restaurants and bars. Plenty of supermarkets too at Vihiers and Doue-la-Fontaine. In the little village of Clere-Sur-Layon there is a cave where you can taste the local wine and purchase the same, but take care it can last a good couple of hours. Nothing is rushed here.
All in all this is truly a gem of a site as you will see when you come.

This must be the best CL type site in the whole of France. Immaculate in every way with excellent facilities. I fully endorse all the previous comments about the site. We went for a couple of nights and stayed for a week! Then we went back in October on the way home for a top-up of genuine hospitality. Lovely quiet roads around for cycling, and terrific wine producers abound. The owners - Adam and Theresa simply can't be faulted for going out of their way to be helpful and friendly without being pushy. Spirit rubs off on the whole site and going home is like leaving family behind. I'm reluctant to give such a glowing report in case it's full when I go back but it deserves ten out of ten. First class security for the storage area but probably unnecessary in this crime-free rural retreat.

We spent a wonderful two weeks at this rural and very peaceful site.
The welcome was wonderful and the owners Adam and Theresa could not have been more helpful.
The shower and loo block was immaculate with 2 large showers 2 loos a separate wash hand basin and an endless supply of hot water.
The site was well kept and the large plunge pool was very clean.
The area just south of Saumur is lovely, very rural and and the site is surrounded by vineyards and cornfields. There is not a great deal for children to do. This is an area better suited to adults who want to get away from it all and find peace and quite in this beautiful part of France.
Thank you Adam and Theresa, good luck see you next year!

Le Serpolin was the first campsite we visited on our 44 backpacking trip around Europe. We booked the site by phone a few days prior to leaving, the owner was very plesant and easy to talk to. Arriving at Thours station, our first and only critisism was the distance from the station by foot. This only really concerns backpackers but on the positive side, the taxi ride was not too long and the owner offered to pick us up if we had trouble finding a ride. We were met by the owner with two cold beers in his hands, he gave us a tour of the site and showed us the various locations at which we could pitch. The whole site was spotless and in a fantastic location. The utility room and shower rooms are very large and provide everything you could possibly want, whether backpacking or caravanning. When the sun was out we enjoyed a dip in the large pool that was available all day. Plenty of local information was available with leaflets, maps and much more. The nearby zoo at Doue la Fontaine is well worth a visit and only a short distance away. There was so much more to do and we could have easily have stayed there for a week or maybe more but we´d only planned on staying two nights. The owner is incredibly helpful and on leaving, we took up his offer to drop us off at the station. Camping at Le Serpolin is a must if you´re visiting the region, a fantastic campsite with a fantastic atmosphere.

This is a small and cosy site which has everything you need for a comfortable stay. There are 8 large pitches all with electricity and panoramic views across the countryside. The toilet and shower facilities are kept immaculately clean and are ample for the amount of pitches on site. The utility room is very well equipped, with a washing up area, and a large freezer for use by the campers. There is a good supply of local information, magazines, books and games available in this room too. There is a very good (brand new) barbecue and seating area(which unfortunately, we couldn't use due to the inordinate amount of rain we experienced!) This is placed next to a large pond which is teeming with fish and is the lay-fisherman's dream. There is also a new plunge pool which I'm sure would be well used in the better weather and a small play area situated near to the house. The whole garden is well looked after and enhances the homely relaxing feel of the site. Also available is very good indoor and outdoor secure caravan storage for very reasonable rates as well as a 6 berth gite for rent which is well-presented and nicely furnished. The site itself is in a beautiful part of rural France, two minutes from the village and in driving distance of a number of attractions well worth visiting. The owners are English and make you feel welcome from the minute you drive onto the site. They are extremely helpful and go a long way to making this one of the best sites we have stayed on.
