Would certainly recommend this site for any walkers out there. Easy to get to plenty of nearby walks, days out. Carding Mill Valley is a treat with children, easy National Trust walk through valley, cafe/shop near car park. Good play park at Church Stretton.
Campsite was quiet, even in August! Loos/showers always clean, showers 50p and water is hot. Slope is not too steep, once in the tent we barely noticed it. Wardens were lovely and helpful. Electric hook up no problem, plenty of water taps.
Having small children the only slight downside is that you cannot readily walk anywhere immediately from the site with the children as there is no path beside the narrow road and the local pub serves food a bit late for children (7pm). Otherwise a great week at a lovely site.

We enjoyed a very lovely flying visit to this small pretty campsite just outside of Craven Arms. We arrived fairly late but received a warm, friendly welcome and were assisted in finding a nice pitch (there were plenty to choose from). As we were in a tent we wanted a fairly level pitch, it was a slight slope but no problem and didn't notice it sleeping at all.
Toilets very nice, clean and warm shower. Quiet site, guinea fowl clucking around are very sweet. We meant to take a walk to the village pub, but ended up snuggling up in our sleeping bags with a bottle of wine, stargazing. Overall it was lovely and we wish we could have stayed longer - as its only 40 mins from us we will be back.

We had a really lovely time at this family run site.
Very small, no play area or pub on site but a pub within walking distance The Kangaroo Inn.
Lots of space to pitch up, on a slope but not too bad.
New shower and toilet facility, downside only 1 shower and 2 toilets for men and the same for women.
Separate washing up facilities.
Needs to have a separate freezer for ice blocks though as wendy the owner offered to freeze them but then wasn't around to retrieve them.
Ray and Wendy were very friendly and helpful.
I would definitely camp there again and would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay at a small quiet site

This is a lovely site - very well maintained and clearly well cared for. The atmosphere is relaxed and the owners friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 nights in a tent - the ground slopes slightly but not enough to cause any difficulties.
It was pretty wet and there didn't seem to be any drainage problems. Facilities are good - there's a new toilet/shower block with two loos and one shower for each sex. Everything was spotlessly clean and the showers (50p) were not only hot but had good water pressure too.
There are two areas for washing dishes - both under cover. I would definitely recommend this place and have every intention of staying there again this year.

We needed a place close to home to try out our caravan for the first time. Previously we have been campers but last year's weather cured us of that.
We only stayed for the one night as we just wanted to pitch and try out all the bits and pieces of the 'van. We chose this site on the strength of others' reviews but I think they must have been to a completely different site.
The site is on what I would consider quite a steep slope. I certainly would not been keen to sleep in a tent here. Levelling the caravan was quite a chore even with the help of a more experienced caravanner.
The pitches are unmarked and the philosophy seems to be to get as many units on the site as possible, so ignore the bit on here that says there are 30 pitches. There were 35 units on site when we were there and it felt pretty rammed. This was on a weekend but not during a holiday period. By the looks of it, the owners would put about another 5-10 units on at peak times.
The toilets and showers are OK but 1 male and 1 female shower for up to 45 units does not seem adequate to me.
As for quiet: the site seemed mainly populated by people who wanted to share their taste in music with the whole site late at night. Not my idea of quiet but perhaps we were just unlucky.
Ignore the price list on the website, it is out of date. It cost us £20 for 2 adults and 2 children which the website says is £16.
On the whole, this is a poor site. It slopes badly, tents and caravans are rammed in, the facilities are inadequate and, when we were there, it was populated with inconsiderate campers. Not recommended.

What a lovely little site. The owners are extremely welcoming and very helpful. Even help with siting our caravan which we only had 4 days previous to our visit.
Set in the heart of Shropshire countryside, Wayside is in a beautiful location, just a couple of miles off the A49 at Craven Arms. There is a dog friendly pub within 10 minutes stroll down the lane. It does meals at good quality and reasonably priced.
The site itself is gently sloping with stunning views from all pitches. The loo / shower facilities are done in pine and are very clean. The ladies had a hairdryer for those who needed it - Free of charge. However the shower is 50p. One thing to remember is that if you shower here, once you put your money in the meter - time is ticking and the light in the cubicle is on the timer too - This goes out when the shower time is up and could be dark if you go in the evening to shower.
All in all this is a very good site and we would definitely visit again.
This site also takes tents and all were very pleased and and the site had a good relaxing atmosphere.
Well worth a visit - But Hushhhh! It's a Gem!

We have been here twice (to trial our first and second tents!). The first time was about May 2008. The owner remembered us the second time even though it was almost a year since and we'd only stopped for a couple of nights. The cat and the wildfowl like to come and take an interest in your activities here, and the owners are friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
This is a very quiet site in the south Shropshire countryside. It's just on the edge of the Shropshire Hills. If you like gentle / moderate hill walking there is the Long Mynd and walks around Church Stretton to the north, Clun Castle and Wigmore Castle (English Heritage, free) are close by to the west and south respectively.
There is a good place to buy wood-turning blanks and equipment along the road just west of Churchstoke about 12 miles north-west. Stokesay Castle (about £5) is about 3 miles or so east, which is a great sun-trap and serves teas in the summer season.
Following the A49 south is the picturesque market town of Ludlow. We used this site as a base to visit Witley Court but it takes almost an hour to get there. We would also recommend Mortimers Cross Water Mill, a little further south of Wigmore Castle.
Tuffins at Craven Arms will supply all you need in the way of food and a whole lot else besides! The local pub is a few yards away towards Clun but there are no footpaths so don't go without a torch to warn oncoming traffic on the way back!
The toilet block is modern, and supplied with 2 toilets and shower per gender, and there was a handsoap pump dispenser and flowers as I recall. There is a little wash-up point with local information.
The slope is gentle to moderate but not a big problem for canvas campers. It is lovely and quiet - most of the noise is from farm animals. The latter do make for more flies in the tent but this is the only real drawback to the site in our opinion.

This was the site we chose for our newbie first time camp so we have nothing to compare it to so here goes.
Site owners very helpful and pleasant. Slightly sloping site down to the toilets which are very clean. Shower, washing up and chemical toilet point also here. Shower is 50p for 5 minutes. One each for the boys and girls.
Site is very peaceful with some lovely views. Very little noise apart from animals :). Road to the site is a B road with no footpath so we did not go walking with out little kids. Craven Arms village is about 2 miles away and has everything you will need.
Elec hook up to most of the pitches, there is also a picnic bench and a seating bench to use around the site.
As you walk up the site the sun rises on the rhs so this side got warmer quicker than us :)

Just spent a week at wayside and found it to be every thing that we wanted. Great views peace and quiet. The toilets and showers were modern & clean and plenty of hot water for washing up. The owners were very friendy, there was plenty of taps so not far to get water. The field is on a bit of a slope but was not a problem you could choose where to pitch and as there are plenty of ehu points there was no overcrowding. Will definitely be going again

We visited this site midweek, from Wednesday to Sunday. We are new to caravanning so the slope looked quite daunting, but the owner helped us level up.
It was nice and quiet, about two and a half miles to Craven Arms and half a mile to Aston on Clun, a fascinating village with history as well as a pub and shop.
The owners are very pleasant, showers great (50 pence), well recommended ++
