What a nice quiet site! A must for anyone looking to be near Salcombe and just 20 Min's from Torbay yet a whole world away from life's stresses This is a very quiet site, nothing happens and that is why people go, you'll likely meet other UKCS members we did, and its quiet by 10pm at night, there are electric hook ups for tents and caravans and Karen the Boss makes everyone so welcome.
If your looking for a quiet, no, very quiet, site and basic but clean facilities you won't go very wrong here and at £15.00 per PITCH per night it won't break the bank either.
Our tent is 7mts wide (2 Dome) plus we got the car and pup tent on our pitch! Tents are made very welcome and made up about 60% of those on site whilst we were there. Happy quiet Camping for those of us who like to hear the wildlife and not the pub.

This Is A QUIET SITE! (Thankfully) Just got back from what was one of the best camping holiday breaks we have ever had, bear in mind we have kids from 10 to 15, it was great, the owners are so friendly, the other campers / caravanners all just joined in and made it such a friendly place to be. We have booked again as we didn't want to come home last time The Toilet Block's are basic but clean, there is a washing area, laundry and a very well stocked shop for both food and accessories, many at below what you normally pay Karen (one of the owners) is always ready to help and we had no problem keeping our pitch until 6pm (it was too hot to go home) Everyone on site must have read the reviews and rules it was Silent by 10pm! Bliss This site has NO Pub. NO Cafe Nothing, What it does have is fantastic large pitches, friendly staff, peace and quiet whilst remaining just 30 minutes from Torbay 5 Min's from Salcombe and Kingsbridge there are Morrisons at totnes, (10 min's) Somerfield in Kingsbridge (5 min) and every shop in nearby Plymouth (20 min's) If you want a loud site full of things to do and where your kids can run Riot NO NOT COME HERE! Kids of all ages are made so welcome, everyone had enough space to play without coming anywhere near your unit and Tents are very welcome even the big ones! We met other UK Campsite Members on-site Peace and Quiet Rule (AT Last)

August 2005 Just returned from a fantastic relaxing week at Mounts Farm. The site was clean and spacious with marked pitches meaning you weren't all cramped together. The pitches were around the outside of each of the 3 fields meaning there was plenty of space in the middle for the children to play etc. The showers and toilet blocks were free, clean and never seemed busy. I went for a shower between 8 - 9 am each morning and didn't have to queue once! The owners were friendly and helpful, the little shop was well stocked and reasonably priced, and ice pack freezing was free! There was loads to do in the surrounding areas and we will definitely be going back there whenever we are down in Devon again! I would recommend this site to everybody!

August 2005 We have just returned from the summer jolly in which we've had the best ever weather I can remember. A week at Seadown in Charmouth, Dorset followed by a week at Mounts Farm in Devon. Initially, pulling into this site my heart sank as it looked quite basic - just a field (perhaps a reaction from being used to the regimentation and closeness of pitches of Seadown). However, the owners were really friendly and showed us to a couple of pitches (we were with other family) and told us we could pitch anywhere as long as we were within the marker. This meant we could angle the vans together and also take advantage of the sun. The site is really three fields with clean loo block and well stocked shop open till 9pm. It is on an A road but we never noticed the traffic.
This site is really relaxed, friendly, quiet and has lots of space for everyone. Seemed to be split 50/50 tents to 'vans. There are some interesting places around - Dartmouth,Totnes,Salcombe and if you have dogs Thurlstone Rock beach is a must. We'd been warned about the Devon lanes but thought people were exaggerating (they're not, they really do touch both sides of the car at the same time!)
The only down comment I would make about the site it that it's not practical to walk/cycle anywhere due to the twisty, narrow nature of the roads. It is in the middle of nowere, even had to walk the dog around the site.

August 2005 Absolutely the best most relaxed place i have ever been. The owners were extremely pleasant and friendly. No noise after 10ish at night although it was sometimes difficult dragging my son away from his new friends so he wouldnt be making any noise. The shop was fantastic, we managed to go without tent pegs and luckily the shop stocked them, in fact they had better stocks than my local camping shop and better pricesand they were open from breakfast time to bedtime. The showers were large and clean and the price was great. We will definitely go back next year, and possibly the next......and maybe the next. In fact if it wasnt so far away we would be there at every opportunity.

August 2004 Where do I start?? The owners of this site have to be the most laid back people I've ever met. Nothing whatsoever is any trouble for them, even my only just 3yr old helping herself to the goodies in the shop(on her own!!) was a laugh to them.
Pitches are level and HUGE, even with EHU and we have a massive dome tent. Grass is kept very short and even though we were in the midst of torrential rain and thunder storms (just after the Boscastle disaster), the fields did not flood anywhere!!
I have to totally disagree with the comments about the toilets not being cleaned.... they were cleaned EVERY day. Showers have plenty of room and a tiled shelf for all of your shampoos etc.. Showers are free and lovely and hot. Plenty of toilets available and showers so no queues.
Shop was great and not over priced at all. Daily papers were availble upon request. We bought our children a kite each (only £1.00 each) on a windy day and they had loads of fun with them. The other children on the site also bought some....in fact they sold out!! Washing machine & drier were a godsend, don't normally use them when away.
Reception area next to shop has a lovely water feature that is lit up in the night. Karen (site owner) puts up the weather for the day and any local attractions like markets or firework displays etc.. They are also a mine of information and have some fantastic recommendations like the pub/restaurant where you can get steak on a rock (volcanic slab).
The site is only 3 miles away from Kingsbridge itself with a huge Safeway store so you don't need to take much food with you. Plenty of restaurants, pubs and take aways in the town.
The first field tends to fill up with caravans but the second field where we were mostly had tents. We had EHU and was only just around the corner from the toilets & shop.
We had great games of football with all the other campers, set up a badminton court with net, played cricket and had tonnes of space in our field. There was also the play area where our daughter hyjacked the dolls pram and play kitchen things which lived in our tent for the whole holiday which was not a problem for the site owners. We had to distract her to put them back!!
There are no pubs within easy walking distance so you will need to stock up on your beers & wine but with the Safeway not too far away, this isn't a problem.
Despite the awful weather we had (and the wasps), we had a fantastic holiday on this site. It has to be the most relaxed site in the world and the most accomodating owners. Absolutely recommended and look forward to returning in the near future.

August 2004 Lovely little quiet site with very helpful and friendly owners who always seem to be around to say hello and to help with anything.
Toilet blocks may be in need of updating and while we were there didn't seem to be cleaned daily ! but they served the purpose. Hot showers which were free and never a queue.
Shop was open until 8.30pm and was very well stocked. Very good play area with lots for the kids to do, playhouse with lots of toys and even a boat.
The only thing that spoiled it for us were some very thoughtless dog owners, we didn't have a dog and on a few occacions I had to complain about 'dog mess' very close to our tent. We have a toddler who was running around enjoying the freedom but we were contantly worrying and checking for this. Once I mentioned it to the owners they said they would sort it and it didn't happen again. Perhaps they need a designated 'dog toilet' area or field for dog owners.
I would defintly recommend this relaxing and very frendly site with it's perfect location for beautiful South Devon.

August 2004 Absolutely Superb ! You don't find many sites like this one and we're extremely reluctant to do this review as we wanted to keep it secret !
We stayed here for our main holiday and will definitely be going back next year. The pitches are spacious and even though the site was full, there was plenty of room to spread out. The grass is very well maintained and most of the pitches are flat. The three fields are separated by hedgerows which provide a nice shaded area in some places. The showers are immaculate and best of all free ! The on-site shop is small but provides everything you need and also stocks camping equipment. The site itself is pretty central to Devon with most coastal resorts within driving distance. The town of Kingsbridge is about 5 mins drive away.
The site owners are more than accommodating, only too keen to help and give advice etc. A family run site with the onus on family. A separate play area for the kids is available and dogs are not allowed on this area.
The owners even include those little touches that make your holiday. At 9pm the 'bedtime police' (a flashing red beacon on one of the permanent caravans on the site) come out. All the children see this and know its time to get showered and ready for bed. A great way to get all the kids settled down - there are strict rules about noise on this site after 10pm which we found very welcoming to know that we wouldn't be disturbed at 1am by noisy neighbours etc. Another nice touch is the free freezer pack freezing service and the blackboard which displays the weather expected every day and any local events/markets that are on in the local area.
If you want a nice peaceful, family holidy then this is the site for you.

Whitsun 2004 We decided to try this site as we had looked at their website and it looked OK. (At least the website had some decent pictures of the site!). Although it was Whitsun and the site was busy we still had plenty of room for our large frame tent. The site shop was small but thoughtfully stocked - with a good range of camping accessories. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The toilet, shower blocks were spotlessly clean and obviously recently decorated, the showers had plenty of room and were free!. The site is well laid-out, with a seperate childrens play area and plenty of space for all pitches. We will definately be going back for as many week-ends as possible and have booked our fortnights holiday in July!

august 2003 WOW! Have been camping for 10+ years and haven't ever found any where like this! Huge showers (NO METERS), peace and quiet, not squashed into small space even though we have a smallish tent. The small on-site shop was very small but seemed to have everything we wanted- inclucing a range of camping supplies-completey unexpected but useful. Very clean and tidy site, we will definately be going back next year, partner and kids have already decidied that. Only downside is that we live to far away to go every weekend ! Definately the place to stay in South Devon, so many things to do nearby that we'll be going back for the next 20 years!
