Have been camping in this area since I was a young girl and have only just found this site thanks to UKCampsite.co.uk Wish I'd have found it sooner. It's well thought out with provisions, shame the planning permission was turned down to upgrade the showers/ toilets. Having said that I found this to be a lovely family site. Very peaceful if you dont mind the sheep and the crickets.

Nice relaxed site, a bit hilly which makes for nice higgeldy piggeldy pitching, and even though it got quite busy, ensured there was plenty space between tents.

You are allowed to have (charcoal) fires, which is a sweet touch, the views from the site are gorgeous, a little van comes round at 9am with bread, papers, milk, etc. There's a cute, natural, little kids playarea with a tyre swing and a climbing tree. The toilets were spotless, cleaned at least three times a day. There were some problems with the female showers and by Sunday only one was working, which was intermittent warm and luke warm. The owners were around during the day and very friendly and helpful. There is care taker on site at night.

There's some fab walks from the site, we picked up the trail to Dancing Ledge from beside the King's Arms, a beautiful 2 hour round walk (with kids) down to the sea, astounding views along the way.

There's a few pubs in the village and a shop. Avoid the food in the the King's Arms, the staff were miserable, we could only find a table outside, it took over 1 1/2 hours for the food to arrive and it was standard microwaved fare.

Scott's Arms in the next village along (Kingston) does excellent food, is a very cute pub and the views from the back garden are amazing.

A must visit with kids is Kimmeridge beach, chockablock full of fossils and at low tide, perfect fro crabbing and playing in the rock pools.

 This is a BRILLIANT campsite.

It is basic, but quiet. It has toilets, washbasins and two showers each for men and women which means that it keeps away the huge family groups and those who want "facilities".

It has the most spectacular view over Swanage Bay, looking out to the Isle of Wight with Ballard Down on the left. I sat and stared at the view for hours, it is really breathtaking.

The site has a very interesting layout, lots of humps and bumps, a bit like a golf course, but where there is flat ground you can pitch your tent with a bit of privacy. There are a lot of Purbeck stones in the ground so getting a peg in is not easy, but the effort is well worth it.

It is so quiet and pleasant to spend a few days communing with nature and admiring the view. It has brilliant access to walks and the Coastal Path and is close to pubs etc. In Langton Maltravers and Worth Maltravers.

A really great site.

Basic with no frills. Toilets clean - seem to remember they were cleaned twice a day. Just about enough flat pitches to go around. Not noisy at all. Didn't see any pitches with hook-ups. Langton Matravers 5 mins walk away and has pub and village shop. Swanage just down the road. Only stayed one night but would definitely stay again.

Me and my family have been coming to this camp site for as long as I can remember, and I'm 18 now! We love coming here as it is a close drive to Swanage and Studland beach! The owners of this site are always very friendly, and the site is very laid-back! It's quiet at a reasonable time, so you can get plenty of sleep and then go to the 'VAN SHOP' which arrives at 8am every morning! If you want to have a very quiet break, then it is best to go in the week, as it is usually fairly empty then as it is a very large field! At weekends it can get quite busy, but it still isn't very noisy though! :)
overall.it is a great campsite to go to, and we will be going back there for many more years!

Arrived here after finding Tom's Field full. Amenities are pretty basic (8 toilets + 4 showers for whole site). No real washing up facilities and water comes from a spur tap off the cow trough (cows vacated the field 3 weeks earlier). I understand they have been refused planning to redevelop site which is a shame as I think they want to do it. No marked pitches so (for those who know the rules on how far away you are supposed to be, we are novices on that one) we saw a few hands on hips when people came back to find their parking space occupied by a tent or 2.

View over Swanage Bay very pretty. Little bit exposed in the middle of the site when it is windy so head for the dry stone wall area. Shop at Tom's Field (5 minute walk away)selling good range of camping kit and general stores. Van comes at 8am to Acton field itself (it did when we were there), announces its arrival with honk of old fashioned car horn. Sells papers, milk, eggs and a few sweet and savoury pastries, be quick!

Site reasonably quiet at night despite it being a bank holiday weekend

Good walking to Swanage via various coastal paths (trickier with kids and buggies because of various hills and sheer distance, 4-5 miles). Best to buy a reasonable OS map and plan it.

No formal booking in, chap comes around to collect rent (I think he notes numberplates as he goes around towards the end of the day).

Overall, enjoyed the stay as we were lucky someone was moving just as we were coming in (got a pitch by the wall)otherwise it is a bit of a free for all. Hope they get planning to develop.

Myself and my family absolutely love this campsite, it is situated a few miles from Swanage town and is only a 10 minute drive to Studland beach, which in my oppinion is one of the best beaches to visit in the UK! The facilities are basic but sufficient and the campsite has a very laid back atmosphere.

Excellent for familes and couples alone. There are breathtaking views of Swanage town and the sea as the campsite is located high up on a hill. Walks to the cliffside are a must.
We have been coming to Acton field since 1998 and will most definitely be returning in the future!!!

Fantastic location for clifftop walks to Dancing Ledge, Seacombe Cliff and Winspit.A little tricky to find a flat pitch, and banging tent pegs into Portland Stone is 'testing'.No frills, but toilets and showers (coin operated) were adequate and overall excellent value for money.
