 As said before don't be put off by static vans they really are no trouble, if anything they add a bit of security to the site. The facilities are dated but work fine. Views are indeed stunning. The site has a very relaxed feel, even though our pitch was next to the family from hell. Campbelltown is very tired but has a good sized Co-op and a expensive Esso garage.
Just one beef, why do some people, of such a beautiful country dump building rubbish on the beach, just cannot get my head round it? If you've toured Scotland before I wouldn't recommend the long drive here, the area doesn't have a great deal to offer. That said at £16 per night a steal.

Spent 2 fantastic weeks on this site. Weather was not the best but, did not let it spoil the fun. Site is quiet and if you are looking for somewhere to relax, this is the place.
Fantastic setting, looking out over the sea, some fantastic sunsets and even weather is not so good, brilliant scenery. Not a lot for the kids to do but, if like mine, they like playing on the rocks and on the sand, they will love it.
Nice place nearby to learn body boarding, details on site, and perfect beach to do it as well.
The owner Anne, is always around keeping the place in good condition and always has time for people. Clean toilet and shower block with hot water and always clean.
Only down side, if you need to launder your clothes, you have to go to Campbell town. 10 miles away but, you can leave your clothes safely in the launderette while you shop.
It was well worth the 7 hour drive to get there and will definitely be back again.

What a wonderful little site! A real find - but. You need reasonable weather!
Fantastic level pitches, with electric, all about 10 paces from the beach with glorious views of the Isles of Islay and Jura when the mist an drizzle disappear.
Sea Otters and Seals abound, we watched both frolicking in the sea from our caravan window most mornings.
This really is the best getaway from it all site with a wonderfully friendly and helpful owner (Anne) and a LOT of extremely friendly repeat guests. Says it all really :-)
On the downside we found it to be a little too isolated for our taste - I suspect this was exacerbated by the appalling weather we encountered. Not unique to the Kintyre Peninsular but the whole of the UK sadly - blame the peksy Jet Stream.

Lovely site in equally lovely location. Tent campers - do not let static vans put you off!
These are confined to one area at rear of site and tent/tourer pitches are along the beach front with stunning views. As others have mentioned this coast does tend to be rather windy so make sure you are prepared for this.
Toilets and showers were free and clean with plenty of toilet roll, liquid soap and hand dryer. Free hair dryer in ladies.
Outside dish wash had plenty of hot water but really could be doing with canopy.
Excellent value at £16 per night including EHU - no extra charge for Bank Holiday weekend
The site owner was very welcoming and friendly.

I am almost reluctant to tell you all how utterly wonderful this site is. I want to keep it just for me!
I will quickly get the 'Negative, but totally easy to over look and not care due to the amazing views and atmosphere of the place-points'
No play park for kids, but mine were happy to play with the children on site (kids 9 and 5)
One sink for dishes, and not covered in anyway, open to the elements, but with this, you get to see the amazing views.
Showers are one temperature, and it is (so my hubby says) cold to get dried as there is no heating.
Ok, so here I go, Anne who owns the site is so very accommodating, and will leave a plaque for your reserved space if you have booked.
If not, you take a spot, and she will come see you for fees, normally around five o clock ish.
Spaces are very ample and the ground drained very well plenty of EHU, and small well maintained campfires allowed.
Stunning views over the islands of Cara, Gigha, Jura, Islay and Ireland.
Beautiful sandy beach from the site, where you can walk the two miles to Bellochaunty for a meal in the local hotel.
Rocky beach in front of the touring pitches, fantastic to hear the waves crash in.
Also, here, you will see otters, seals and dolphins at least twice on your stay ( nearly every day on a two week stay)
Campbeltown has a Tesco and Co Operative, but not much else.
Showers are hot, and free, push button.
No place to wash clothes, but a laundrette in Campbeltown.
Glenbarr is a mile walk away, and here you will find a hidden gem.
'The Watering Can', go there, try it!
Everyone is friendly, and quick to help in anyway.
We stayed for two delightful weeks, and booked for three weeks in the summer before I left!
Go to Gigha, first trying a bacon roll in Big Jessie's at the 'terminal', but spend time either walking or cycling round Gigha, lovely island, strangely warmer than the mainland!
Killegruer Caravan site has a little place in my heart, a place that makes me smile on memory and has me longing to go back!
If you go with tent or awning, strong guy lines and storm straps a must!

This is simply the best site I've ever been to. I'm a single parent camper with 12 year old son and hate places with clubhouses, kids clubs etc. - we make our own entertainment. At this campsite that becomes incredibly easy with the beach within a stone's throw of your tent, the sun setting over views of Islay and Jura accompanied by the glow of a campfire.
The scenery is spectacular and we saw Golden Eagles which nest in the cliffs behind the site.
There are only a few tent pitches and it's best to book. If you don't need a hook-up then you can pitch on the 'Bowling Green', which has the best views. We paid £15 per night for a four man tent with 2 people and got the seventh night free! Its a small site which hugs the shore with units in a single line.
There were quite a few caravans and motorhomes while we we there and plenty of return customers. The other campers were absolutely lovely: like-minded people who weren't nosey or in-your-face but always had a word to share about the weather conditions (a bit of an obsession being so close to the coast) and tales of their travels to the Isles, complete with tips and contacts.
The lady who owns the site is very customer orientated and lives in the local village, Glenbarr. She comes round to check on everything and clean the facilities every evening, always with a friendly word and cheery disposition. It's just off the really fast west coast road, but with he waves lapping continually, you really don't notice.
The showers are powerful, hot and free, and were always- as with the toilets- clean. I can't help but feel that it's largely due to the type of people there who take ownership in keeping it pleasant to use. The washing up facilities too were well maintained and with boiling hot water.
There is no shop but the local village shop, an easy 15 minute walk to Glenbarr, stocks most things and has fresh bread, veg, good local meat and has a garden centre with a cafe attached to it. There is also a country house and gardens that you can visit which serves teas etc.
Campbeltown is a 20 minute drive away, regular buses also go past the site, and has everything you could need- we managed to buy an electric pump there. If you go there you must go to Davaar Island (accessible at low tide, check tide times) and the community-run, beautifully preserved old fashioned cinema. It runs one film over a week and we paid 50p extra to sit in the balcony.
There are so many places you can visit: we loved the vast deserted beach at Machrahanish, went right down to the desolate, totally wild and untamed Mull of Kintyre (forget Paul McCartney, the song does it no justice at all) where there were clear views over to Ratray Island-off Ireland.
Ate fresh langoustines at the Seafood Shack at Skipness Castle, which is well worth a visit with imposing Arran just over the water and serene walks along the beach. The ferry to Gigha goes from just up the road which we'll explore next time.
It really is worth visiting this area and even in August it was quiet. There are 2 or 3 other campsites around, one of them supposedly 'award winning', but I promise you, this is the best.

Well what can I say that others have not, brilliant, super, wonderful, shear bliss and CHEAP!
If like me you prefer and usually only go to Caravan club sites then you are in for a shock because this site is every bit as good but without the snobbery and the CC price’s.
We paid £90 including hook up for six of us and the porch and two dogs for 6 nights and the 7th is free at time of review.
Heated toilets/ showers, no playground though.
I think a week would be long enough if you have children.
Recommend storm straps and rock pegs as it can get very windy.
Step out of your van and walk 10 paces and you are on the Beach.
Great site and friendly helpful owner.

This is the second holiday we have had at this site and we can only say it is fantastic. The view on the website is exactly what you get. We had views of seals in the bay, porpoise and a cheeky little otter.
The pitch is on grass and if you are unfortunate enough to have rain it drains well. But even in the rain it is brilliant to watch the weather forming on the horizon or over towards Ireland, Islay or Jura. You can also see Gigha from the site and is well worth a trip.
Toilet block is kept spotless and you always get a warm welcome. Showers are free and hot, no messing with coins and wondering if the water will run out before you are fully rinsed.
If you reserve a pitch you get a little marker with your name on it and pay the pitch fee when you see the owner.
A little gem we only wish it was closer.

We visited this site at extremely short notice and were delighted when we were able to get a pitch for 3 days just prior to Easter. The touring pitches are right on the bank overlooking the sea, with fantastic views both front and back.
The ground was good and firm, and more importantly flat and rock free. Toilet facilities were spotlessly clean, and no charge was made for showers or hair dryer.
The dish washing sink always had boiling hot water, ideal for cleaning enamel camp kit, and the water taps and bin sites were all within easy reach of the tent.
We were blessed with the weather and spent four wonderful days overlooking the sea, watching oyster catchers and even spotted a couple of sea otters sharing a fish on the nearby rocks.
This is an ideal campsite for anyone who just wants to get away. Local facilities are great, with a coffee shop in the local village that is hidden away behind the post office. Great breakfast if you don't feel like cooking. Campbeltown is close by and has supermarkets and a superb little Chinese restaurant for that special evening meal.
All in all, this site was ideally located with superb facilities. Although it got windy on the last night, the ground is firm enough to hold the tent pegs.
The highlight for us was the closeness of the beach to the touring pitch which allowed for us to have a camp fire on the beach within easy access to our tent and car. We will definitely be returning. Our thanks to Anne for a wonderful welcome to Kintyre.
We look forward to camping here again soon.

Awesome location, perks of not having a static is that you get right on the front! Spot was reserved for us with a little peg with our name on it! You are literally on the edge of the beach, lovely and sandy, the odd rocky outcrop. Views across to Jura, saw seals, basking sharks. Village, 30 minutes walk up hill, but pleasant has post office/shop which sold most things. At the back of it was a garden centre with a coffee shop which did meals. Not the prettiest looking camp site, statics, but location made up for it. Toilet/shower facilities clean and sufficient though slightly dated. Outdoor washing up facilities, not covered, but lets you look at sea whilst doing your dishes!
