We returned to Killegruer for the third time and it's definitely our favourite site.
The pitches are a really good size now and the beach is bigger and sandy (what have they done?).
There is a new dish-washing sink with boiling hot water and a powerful cold water tap (take care!). The toilets and showers are still sparkling clean. The showers are powerful and nice and hot. There's a free hairdryer. A small information area with book hire.
We had a fire on the beach and the kids played on the sand and looked in the rock pools. Amazing sunsets as usual.
An easy walk to Glenbarr village where there is a PO/grocer(sells everything)/farm shop/garden centre (we bought duck eggs), and a licensed cafe which serves delicious food. There is also Glenbarr Abbey/museum.
Campbeltown is nearby with a new leisure centre, cinema, laundrette etc.
There is also a hotel with bar and restaurant a 2 mile walk down the beach from the site.
Each pitch has it's own beach front and has hook-up (we don't use it) and very reasonably priced. Static caravan owners are very friendly. A windy site but perfect pegging firm soil. A strong tent is recommended. Children's playground is sheltered and consists of a football goal, some tyres and a car; not much but the beach holds enough fun!

A lovely quiet site. The touring caravans and tents are pitched along the front of the site, there are static caravans in the area around the toilet block. We had a pitch with an electric hook-up and the cost was very reasonable.
The beach was a few feet in front of us, and a field with a few cows behind. It was very peaceful, with fantastic views of the sunset. The toilet block was cleaned regularly, and the owner is really friendly. We look forward to returning soon.
The village of Glenbarr is about a mile away and has a farm shop with garden centre and coffee shop.

Just back from what should have been a two night stay. Unfortunately there were strong gusts that snapped our poles. We reluctantly left early in glorious sunshine. The site is small and very friendly. Our two wee boys made friends quickly. We were kindly taken in to Dave's static after our tent collapsed at 1am. He even cooked us breakfast! The toilet block is spacious and immaculate, with wonderful hot showers. The owners are lovely and we got our money back for the second night. All touring spots are on a strip next to the beach. The plots are quite small but everyone has their own beach-front. Booking is recommended and the owners stick up a 'Reserved' sign with your name on the plot. It's reassuring to know if you are coming from far away. We were conscious of the road at first, and the A83 is in sight, but once the tent is up and you're looking out to sea with the sound of the waves, you soon become unaware of it! The beach area next to the tents is quite rocky but you can walk along to a bigger sandy beach. A couple of minutes in the car takes you to a spectacular beach with sand dunes. We look forward to going back and having a fire on the beach next time.
