Very nice site which is split into two parts, pleasant owners. Toilet / shower block is very clean and well maintained.
The cost of £14 per night inc ehu we thought to be very reasonable, and we were advised by Chris that this charge stays the same whole through the year- extra small charge for awnings. A charge for extra cars / people which on first thought did seem a little steep but when thinking about it this site is a very nice walk into york and would therefore possibly get used by people as just an easy car park facility, so thinking of this we don't blame the owners charging so as not to be used as a parking facility.
The walk into york is about a 30 min stroll and a very pleasant one down by the riverside, on the way you pass the caravan club site 'rowntree' which is very hard to get booked onto as a very popular site, however, for us we think that Manor Farm is just as nice, we would even say better for us personally.
On Saturday morning a car boot is held across the road at the race course - well worth a visit.
The only small gripe we would have is that the off site time is 12 oclock which we appreciate is a usual request by many sites, however, being out of season when we were there it would have been nice to be allowed to stay a little over the 12 o'clock deadline,
This is only a small niggle and we will be back again to this site.

We stayed for five nights and chose because of the proximity to York which we had never visited before and it was ideal. We didn't move the car the whole time we stayed - some days we walked in to the centre, which took around 25 minutes, other days we cycled.
The toilet & shower facilities were the best we have come across and even though there was a 50p charge for showers you got loads of hot water & plenty of time. The owners were friendly, helpful & welcoming. It was really good value for a EHU pitch in a great location.

This site was perfect for us, friendly, clean, tidy, with immaculate warm toilet/shower block and best of all very relaxing. Great walks along the river to York, just got to keep an eye out for speeding cyclists.
There is also a very handy bus service 5 minute walk from site straight into York. There is plenty information of the area and surrounding areas supplied on site in a neat little shed.
We picked up excellent internet reception with Connect 3.
Will definitely return. Big thumbs up to the owners they have thought of everything to make this a good site.

Very pleased we chose this site for our main summer break, two great weeks at this gem of a site. A small compact site over two areas; 20 hard standings but there is plenty of room on site and a feeling of privacy, especially on the smaller field [5 units].
All facilities are well maintained and the owners are very pleasant and helpful. The toilet block is kept very clean and although small[ish] was never over used.
Ideal for a pleasant 30 min walk to York – never used the bus which is a sign of the good weather we had. York is a busy city with plenty to do; best visit for us was to York Museum. Try the Woodman in Bishopthorpe for food – tried it during the first week and never went anywhere else.
Thoroughly recommend this site and we will be returning. If the pitches were fully serviced it would be the icing on the cake but this is not a criticism.

Great site, great location, great people what more can you say. We stayed here for three nights, wish it was longer
The site is well placed for visiting York and the rest of north yorkshire only 25 mins walk into york centre along the river side cycle / foot path. The toilet block was kept clean and tidy as was the rest of the site.
The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Although the site was full it was quiet possibly because its an adult only site (big thumbs up). I am sure we will be returning soon.

Howgill Lodge - Wharfedale
In the heart of Wharfedale, this beautiful site is terraced to give amazing views over spectacular countryside. Hardstanding pitches for caravans and motorhomes and grass pitches for tents, with optional electric hookup. Toast marshmallows around the fire pit! Come and say hello to their family of friendly resident alpacas.
Hot showers, toilets, laundry, washing up. Wifi, dog washing facilities and bike cleaning facilities. Large woodland area where kids can explore for hours. Small shop and morning coffee shop for barista made coffee, fresh pastries and hot chocolate. There are also luxury timber lodges with private patio, wood fired hot tub, fire pit with pizza oven and a picnic table. The perfect base for exploring the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales. A great site. I always favour adult only, small sites and this one fits the bill perfectly.
The site is immaculately kept and the owner is very friendly and helpful. The toilets are warm and immaculate. The charge for the shower is perfectly acceptable, given the brilliant condition of the toilets and the good quality, long lasting shower.
Pitches are spacious and hard standing. Site is divided in two making this a very private and personal little site.
The location is ideal, especially as we have 2 large dogs. Plenty walking in the racecourse opposite. We rarely used the car, opting to walk into York at all times. The walk is a little longer than the 20 mins others claim. From site to city (into the centre area) is 35-40 mins, but it is a pleasant walk in which time passes quickly which is perhaps why people don't think is it as long as it is. The river side is very popular and many walk it (watch out for the loads of cycles!) which means it feels safe and secure, even when we walked back at 11pm in the dark!
Will definitely return here.

Excellent site. I always baulk at paying extra for showers but this was certainly worth 50p - it went on so long I had to turn it off, and plenty of room to get dry & dressed.
If possible use the bus into York & then beyond (especially if you have a pass)the Askham park & ride up the road is not motorhome friendly as I discovered on the day I left hoping to nip into the Railway Museum before heading out of the area.
The Yorvik Museum is one not to be missed, I was dubious at first but once inside - WOW!

Happy to agree with the previous reviews. Overall, Manor Farm is a very nice, truly four season commercial site which is very well situated for visiting York centre. Only slightly marred by traffic noise in the background, however, this was more than made up for by the absence of squawking kids wobbling about on their fairy bikes around your ankles!
Manor Farm is divided into two pitching areas, a ‘front field’ and a ‘back field’. Both fields are sheltered by high hedges and all pitches are hard standings with EHU. The ‘back field’ is approx 50m x 50m and level. The ‘front field’ is a little smaller and very slightly sloping, it is also marginally more convenient for the toilet / shower / water / chemical disposal point.
The toilet block is well appointed and maintained. There are two toilets and one shower (50p) in both the ladies and gents sides.
Pitch fees are a very reasonable £12/night for 2 people, van and EHU. However, this will mount up if your party is larger. (Additional people £5; additional car £5; awning £1.50; day visitors £3; day visitors car £3) Two details that might affect you; firstly, single night stays are quoted as “Price on Arrival”. Secondly, there is a limit of two people per van at “busy periods”.
The owners have collected a vast amount of visitor information and put it all in a shed for you.
Little in the way of local shops, but there is a massive 24 hour Tesco a couple of miles away near the Askham Bar Park and Ride.
York centre is a pleasant walk (30-40 mins) or cycle (15 mins) along the river. There is also the number 11 bus every half hour during the day, and hourly in the evenings. The single bus fare is £1.80, so if you intend more than one trip, I suggest you buy a £3.50 day ticket.
Given we stayed out of season with snow on the ground, the site was almost full, so advance booking might be advisable.

We have been visiting this site 3 or 4 times a year, for the past 3 years. Convienient for all the attractions that York has to offer, this site is a credit to its owners. Super clean site and facilities and always a warm welcome. If you want loud music, late night parties, ball games and all the fun of the fair, DONT GO. Its a peaceful site in an ideal location, and its child free. Nothing against children, just done our bit on that front, and dont want everyone elses. Bus stop into city only a very short distance away, with a half hourly service (Mon to Sat). Time to leave the car behind, and for those lucky enough to have the new bus pass, free rides as often as you want. The site tariff is very fair and for the small charge to use the showers, you get ample hot water. First class site. Highly recommended.

First time at manor farm very impressed. Chris the owner met us on arrival and showed us to our pitch which are all hard standing. Toilet block small but very clean, 50p a shower so take some 50ps. Tarrif very cheap. This is a lovely quiet site with no children, which was great. 5 min walk from racecourse, 20 min walk into york. Going back in april for a quiet weekend definately one to try.
