Unfortunately for us it rained for most of the time we stayed here. However the site remained reasonably dry. The wardens are very friendly and helpful.

Toilets & showers are kept immaculate. We never witnessed any queues for these amenities in this large, busy and slightly sloping site. There is a large play area for the children with several added extras.

Be prepared it is a child friendly site and it can be a bit noisy for those who do not want to hear babies crying and kiddies screaming.

Agree with previous reviews that there are many walks through nearby woodland but it can be a very muddy walk to the local pub for food or to the shops.

Be careful, there are two pubs that serve food both within 30 minutes walk in opposite directions. However, one closes in the afternoon & the other does not serve food during this time either. The site is situated in a reasonable position just as long as you don't mind driving everyday.

A normal Caravan Club site that is pet friendly and a long way from facilities.

My wife and I stayed on this site for 15 nights with our dog in early July. The site is immaculately maintained by a very friendly and welcoming team of wardens who work extremely hard all day keeping the site in pristine condition. We found the toilet and shower blocks were always spotlessly clean and looked brand new, most people we spoke to said they were better than what they had at home.

We stayed on a large grass pitch which was more than big enough for our twin axle caravan with awning.

There is a very big dog exercise field which our springer loved, with plenty of room for her to have a good run around in.

Overall we found this to be a very nice, quiet relaxing site with lots of pretty walks nearby.

My only criticisms would be that a lot of the pitches are on a slope and the long private road in and out of the site is only single track, they need another road out really as it gets a bit awkward if you meet another unit coming the other way.

The pretty little town of Wickham is only a few minutes away with a Co-op, bakers, newsagents and chipshop etc. There are also major supermarkets within a few miles of the site.

Overall I would recommend this site, if you are looking for a lovely peaceful place to camp with pretty countryside surroundings and plenty of forestry walks

What a lovely site, I would highly recommend it. The layout is lovely and beautifully looked after. All the pitches have a scattering of trees throughout, the whole site is surrounded by woods. There is an area for those who prefer hardstanding pitches and a lovely area for those who prefer grass and all the pitches are a good size.

The shower\toilet blocks (there are two) are extremely clean and there is a washing up\veg preparation area. The staff were really cheerful and happy to help you if required.

The weekend we were there it was more or less full and I was surprised at how peaceful it was, the only noise that could be heard was that of the birds in the woods and at night the owls joined in, no traffic noises at all.

Wickham which is a short drive away has a lovely square and some quaint little shops to browse over. A lovely cafe called Lilly's which offers lovely cakes and cream teas!

If you love walking it could not be better with One Hundred Acre Wood next door to the site and just before you reach Wickham there is the dis-used railway line which you can walk along for miles.

I really did not want to leave on Monday last but, as required, we left at 3pm and were home at 3.20. We only live just outside Portsmouth, but when you are at Rookesbury Park you could be anywhere. We went there a few times last year and I know that we will be there again before the end of the season.

What an absolutely beautiful site. The views are breathtaking as you drop down and the site comes into view. Spotlessly kept and the shower blocks were faultless - nice roomy showers and even though the disabled one was in use by a family I was able to take my friend into one of the other showers and she managed comfortably (She had forgotten her key for the separate disabled shower).

The dog walk is great and the access to the woods perfect our two dogs were in heaven. A big bonus was that you could hear the birds and the owls at night and no traffic!

The nearest pub The Roebuck served beautiful food and had 'background music' that you could actually have a conversation over, you didn't need to shout. Lovely friendly staff and we had fantastic pitches for our caravan rally.

Many thanks - we will be back as soon as we can. None of us had any children with us but it seemed a safe site for them with loads to do.

Another lovely Caravan Club site. Facilities are really good. Very clean toilet blocks, which also has a toddler room (£5 refundable deposit for key). Very nice showers which were always hot. Wardens are extremely friendly and cannot do enough for you. The site is an absolute credit to them.

A lot of hardstanding areas, plus many grass pitches too, which is what we had. Very big play area, plus badminton/volleyball net. Woodland walks close by, plus Forestry Commission site next door which has very big kids play area, which our kids really liked. Only slight downside is that washing-up facilities are outside and not covered.

Close to Portsmouth for the Historic Dockyard and to the Mid-Hants Steam Railway (check first to see what days it is open).

A Fish and Chip van stops in the car park at about 6.30 on a Friday night, which was an added bonus. Good food and no washing-up !

Recommend this really nice site, and we will definitely be returning here.

What a lovely site! The staff were extremely nice, the toilets were always spotless and warm. Some hard standing sites that may require heavy duty pegs. Security barrier on entry and exit.

We arrived during term time so was quiet and uncrowded. As the weekend arrived, became busier but not too busy to become uncomfortable.

Kids loved being able to run over to the limited apparatus play area and play until dinnertime. The one way traffic system keeps roads safer. Well maintained grass and boundaries. Local shops and food outlets about 1-2 miles away were very sufficient for campers needs. Power outlets with built in aerial connections were very modern. Being close to the woods, night time did hear audible owl hoots, but as we were more central to the site, did not cause as much disturbance as it would if on the tree boundary. Wood walks for all ages and of varying distances available. Close to Portsmouth and it's sights and attractions.

Would definitely recommend to anyone after a quiet, secure, well kept location.

Visited during the October half term with a dog and two very energetic young boys(5 + 7 yrs).

Extremely pleased with our stay and can honestly say the time just flew by.

As a fairly inexperienced caravanner I found the staff very helpful and other campers very sociable and also willing to help. My thanks to Jim from Sidcup who helped me put up my full awning for the first time.

The site reception staff were friendly but to be fair there wasn't much to be had by way of provisions. However I was able to order a daily paper which was great and they sold me a TV aeriel lead for £12 as the site has TV booster points at the hook ups which meant an immaculate signal on the telly.

The layout of the site was open and easily negotiated. This was good because this was the first time I had taken the children's bikes and they thoroughly enjoyed cycling with new found friends. Even though I probably worry too much as a parent yet at no time did I worry for them whilst they cycled around. The play area was also great, the climbing frame and equipment more than adequate and well maintained.

The play area had a nice open grass area all around and a gentle slope leading up to woodland.

For walkers the nearby Forest of Beare was superb. You walk from the site entrance to a walk in the forest and there was a treat for the kids by way of a super outdoor climbing area.

Will certainly be returning.

We loved it here, stayed in August 09 for 2 separate weeks.

The wardens were great, really helpful

The site is so peaceful, even when it was full, the kids had enough to do, as the play area kept them busy and they used there bikes around the park.

The shop is only the office but it did have what you needed and my daughter liked to go over and get an ice cream or some sweets.

We felt very safe here and the facilities were brilliant, the toilet and shower blocks I would say were perfect, very clean and new.

Fish and chip shop van came on a Friday, ok food, not like from a chip shop though, more like from your freezer at home, but it was nice not to cook and very convenient too.

I would most definitely recommend staying here.

The area around Portsmouth and nearby there is lots to do and we had a brilliant time.

We have just returned from our visit to Rookesbury Park Caravan Club site. It is probably the largest site on which we have ever stayed. On arrival we were made very welcome by the wardens. The site was very busy, but we managed to find a pitch which was perfect for us in every way. I have a slight mobility problem, but our pitch was next to all the facilities. After saying this we couldn't see any of them because there were trees in between the pitch and the buildings (pitch 92). The pitch also got the sun all day, of which we had plenty,I might add.

The site is very well maintained. Within minutes of caravans leaving, the wardens were round mowing and tending to the pitches. The facilities in the toilet block were excellent, and spotlessly clean.

We ventured to various places. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard was very interesting. Titchfield is a beautiful little village, it really takes you back in time, and is only 8 miles away. There is a golf course just down the road, and one at Rowlands Castle, which is a few miles further away, but we found it very good, and the evening meal was excellent.

We also went to Port Solent, very well worth a visit. It is acually a mooring area for yachts, but surrounding it is a beautiful two tier varanda of shops and restaurants. It has a very continental atmosphere, both during the day and at night. There is a good variety of international cuisine. We had three meals at Port Solent all excellent. If you have prams or mobility problems, there is a lift at the complex. As you have probably realised, we had a wonderful holiday, and will certainly be going again.

Rookesbury Park is situated in a clearing in the Forest of Bere. Good dog walks both on site and from just outside the gates. It is about a 10 minute walk up the drive to the main road where the Forestry Commission car park has a large children's play area.

The toilet facilities are excellent, especially the new block in the middle of the site. Very clean all the time that I was there.

There is a good play area with climbing frames, slides etc and a large field to kick a ball or frisbee etc on site.

The hardstandings are a good size and the grass pitches looked spacious too.

Overall, a great site with excellent facilities.
