First time here. New toilet blocks (refurbished) improve what seems a very good site anyway which has usual club site amenities. Note; handbook says no TV hook up but they do have this on EHUs if you want the TV etc. Quiet and relaxing site. Some pitches are sloping (slightly) but wasn't a problem. Some of the grass pitches have a space to the front of the pitch, giving more of a feeling of room.
Not such a comprehensive play area as some sites in terms of apparatus but quite a large area for children to play in.
Nicely located in rural area but near to amenities and a variety of things to see and do. Access to site is OK, but follow club handbook instructions if towing.
Short stay area useful if travelling on ferries etc with early morning or late night departure.
Overall, a nice site that we will return to soon.

Just come back from a lovely weekend at this site. Went with friends and 5 children in total. Arrived on a Friday and the check in was very pleasant and quick. Got two grass pitches together. Brand new refurbished toilet blocks and a great children's play area. Very quiet at night and just the birds singing to wake you up in the morning. Country park next door with climbing play area and great for riding bikes and taking a picnic. Definitely a place we will go again.

Lovely site and very friendly. Good location as local shops have all you need and Fareham is close by. Well located for Portsmouth, Chichester, Bognor and day trips to Isle of Wight.
Clean facilities as you would expect from club site and helpful staff.
Excellent walking but dog owners beware - the woodland is alive with ticks! I was finding them in the motorhome, and although my dogs were treated for ticks it takes them a couple of days to drop off. I was vacuuming them up at home for several days after we returned. YUK. For this reason alone, with 4 long coated dogs we are reluctant to return.

We stayed here for one night on our very first night in our new van. What a very pleasant site. The toilet facilities were spotless and warm. The site is a haven of peace - despite being full to the brim. Plenty of wildlife in evidence. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The check-in process was efficiently and swiftly expedited at a very busy time. The site has a small shop where you can order your daily paper too. The children's playground looked good there are excellent dog-walking facilities, both on site and in the adjoining forest. We live only a couple of miles away, but we will definitely stay again.
The nearby small country town of Wickham is great for forgotten items and has a couple of good pubs, a couple of very good old fashioned ironmongers, fish and chip shop, chemist, Alldays & Co-op and a good butcher. A little further away is Fareham with a large Sainsburys and all the high street shops you might expect.

Not much to add information wise from the other reviewers. This is a peaceful site, in its own bowl shaped valley, great stewards and normal club site standards. Its only downside is you have to drive (or cycle) to find facilities and civilisation as public transport does not exist. Nice for a peaceful break, but dont pitch on pitches 1-10 as the lovely trees behind them actually hide the huge play area, which can get a bit noisy with kids playing. Dont get me wrong, I have no problem with kids making a noise but feel it only right to warn those who may not. If so, pitch on the other side of the park

You’ll have to be a member of the Caravan Club to stay at this lovely rural site in Hampshire. It is a large site of 154 pitches of which 56 are hardstandings. There is also a 12 pitch short stay area for those using the ferries and want a safe refuge for a late arrival or early morning start. The pitches are generally flat or slightly sloping so it is worthwhile carrying a levelling block.
There are two toilet blocks with showers, facilities for disabled, laundry and vegetable preparation areas. The layout means that all pitches are relatively close to the facilities.
They cater very well for kids (of all ages) because there is a separate play area with swings, slides and a climbing frame. Also a boules pitch, badminton/volleyball net, ball area with goal posts and a table tennis table. Equipment can be hired very reasonably from the warden.
There is a separate dog exercise area that is fenced off and very large.
Adjacent the site is the Forestry Commission West Walk which is part of the Forest of Bere http://www.Forestry.Gov.Uk/website/Recreation.Nsf/LUWebDocsByKey/EnglandHampshireBereWestWalk. This is great for walking, cycling, building dens or watching the birds including buzzards.
Shopping facilities are 3 miles away in Wickham which has a Co-op, One Stop, butcher, baker and TWO ironmongers as well as a petrol station and a choice of pubs and hotels. If you need a big supermarket there is a Sainsbury’s at Fareham as well as a wider range of shops.
Loads of country pubs within five miles of the site all serving food but book in advance if you intend having Sunday lunch because they are very popular.
Plenty to see in the area including Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, adjacent to Gunwharf Quays outlet centre http://www.Gunwharf-quays.Com/ and Spinnaker Tower. Southsea next door if you love candyfloss and a laze on the beach. If you love art visit Mottisfont Abbey a National Trust property near Romsey where Rex Whistler painted the drawing room in the trompe l’oeil style and it is amazing.
We had a lovely time and quite happy to return for a second helping.

I can only agree with what has been said before that this is a great site. The facilities are up to the usual CC standards with piping hot showers and lovely heated shower blocks. The children's play area is virtually new with a good range of equipment including a badmington net and table tennis table - my two loved it.
The site itself is peaceful and the location is very pretty. Many of the pitches are sloping however so be prepared. The wardens are extremely helpful and very friendly. Would thoroughly recommend this site. If you like a bit of retail therapy, then a trip to Gunwharf Quays at Portsmouth is a must. On a good day, a visit to the Spinnaker Tower is well worth it.

The OH and myself have been used this site many times. The wardens have changed over the years but we have always found them to be very pleasant and helpful. The site itself is in what was an old sand pit but you would never know that now. It is a very quiet site where rabbits and pheasant abound and you do see the occasional deer in The Forest of Bere which is accessible form just outside the gate. The forest has numerous walks in it as well as cycle tracks and you could spend all day going around in it. There are two toilet/shower blocks which are are up to the usual excellent C.C. Standards. There is an area put aside for children to play with an assortment of playthings. There are both hard standings and grass pitches Newspapers are available at the site office along with other items Bread, Milk, Gas etc If you do not wish to use the forest to walk your dogs there is a huge field set aside at the far end of the site which at the present time is used as a dog walk, although I have heard that this may be used to add more pitches to the site. The nearest town/village is Wickham which has everything that you may need albeit I would suggest is a about 4 miles away. Further afield you have Fareham, Gosport, Portsmouth and a trip to the IOW if you wish. My personal favourite area is the seashore at Titchfield Have where you can drive right up to the shore edge and overlook the Solent and IOW I would recommend this site to anyone. The mobile FISH AND CHIP van turns up on a Friday night at 1830hrs Go there and enjoy it

Stayed here for one night, wished it had been longer. All the high standards you expect from a CC site. Wonderful walks for our three dogs who were made very welcome by staff there. Only drawback was that it was quite a walk from the town although that added to the peace and quiet. We will definitely visit again.

We used Rookesbury as a stopover en route to Devon. Normal high caravan club standards with an good play area and a large dog walking area at the rear.It is set near a forestry commission area although there is no access to the woods from the site - the majority is fenced off and you need to go back up to the drive to the Forestry commission car park next door. There is an allocated space for those using the Portsmouth Ferries - we were very close to it and didn't hear much noise at all. A nice site.
