Found the site no problems, nice welcome when got to site, everything was explained ie. where my pitch was and the 1 way system. Pitch itself was massive compared to other sites, nice an clean area only little issue as it was slightly on a hill, but hey we don't live in Holland we have hilly ground.
View from the site was really nice, looking over towards the beach and the sea.
The area for kids to run around is fantastic, a play park and 2 football goals, which at one point I think the whole campsite took part in, Plenty stuff for my 6 year old to keep herself busy. At one point there were 3 kites being flown in the ‘playing area’.
Showers/Toilets were really clean, plenty hot water and 10/10, there was also a wee shop to pick anything up ie firewood etc
I must say I would use this site again, I would highly recommend this site to anyone wanting to camp in the Fife/St Andrews area

Stayed at this site for the first time as it had such good reviews. Sadly we were both very disappointed with this site.
I booked this site the evening before our stay, When we arrived we were told there was a large party on the site which would be taking all the pitches at one end of the camping area. We were given a pitch at the other end but which was in fact only 2 pitches from the large group. The large party consisted of about 6 or 7 large families, adults and kids. Unfortunately they partied outside until well after 11. 30 pm which I have to say ruined the nice restful and peaceful weekend we hoped for. It would have been nice to have been told about this party when I booked as we would have gone elsewhere.
The pitches were well maintained with wind break fences between which gave a sense of privacy.
Toilets and showers clean but very basic and lacking in hooks, shelves etc, unfortunately, despite being clean they still had an unpleasant smell.
Won't return to this site, it didn't offer very much, no nice extra touches.

Visited this site after torrential rain and was worried about a soggy pitch. On arrival I needn't have worried this is a very well drained site. You could see where the rain had caused problems but its so well drained we had no need to worry.
We were met by I assume the owner who was great and nothing was too much bother. We hired a fire pit which was great as it was very cold and windy on the first night so much so we struggled to keep hold of the tent. The owners had put up windbreaks but in that wind they didn't make much difference. Luckily we had brought our own windbreak and I would suggest that you do too as it is very exposed on the hill.
The toilets were clean although they did run out of paper on the Sunday night. The showers were the push on kind which was ok as the power was great, and they were hot.
It's not far from St Andrews which was a lovely place to visit.
My only one gripe was that there were a large group of cyclists who were obviously on an organised holiday, but I didn't want to know at 6.30 am it was time to get up and that the bbq was lit from the man in charge, neither did the children we had with us in our tent age 3 and 7.
There is a great playing field and a park which kept the kids busy great for flying a kite in fact the 7 year old had to come and ask us how to get the kite to come down!
I would visit again as for the price we were 2 large tents both with electric on 1 large pitch. We were 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 children, we hired the fire pit for 2 nights and the giant Jenga, for 2 nights we were £120.

Just back from a 4 night stay at Nydie, , site was very easy to find from directions given.
Site very well kept, grass was cut, pitches easily identified, fantastic views out over the countryside. And the RAF jets going to and from Leuchars.
My 8 and 11 yr olds had a great time, swing park and play area, loads of room to exercise them and keep them busy.
Site itself only a 10 min drive into St Andrews or 15 mins into Cupar.
We had 2 extra family members stay over on the Saturday night after a barbecue to which we mentioned on arrival, at £3/person extra I think was a bit steep
Toilet block always clean and washing area's too, ,
My only criticism is that the toilet blocks were freezing, albeit they had a small tubular heater on (still wasn't enough), and as mentioned before there was nowhere to hang your towel / clothes when in the shower and no seat, I think with the addition of a shelf, and seat and an extra heater the toilet blocks would be faultless
None the less, I will definitely be back, there isnt very many sites around that are clean and tidy, with amazing views over the countryside like this one has!

Just back from a weekend here. Lovely situation, on hill with great views out to sea and to St Andrews in the distance.
The pitches were well-marked and we liked the windbreaks. I did feel there wasn't much space between tents though.
The toilets were clean but there were problems with no hot water in the ladies showers on our first morning. Also toilet paper often ran out and there were no hand towels in the toilets, although there is a hand drier. The campsite was full because of a local event, so this may be why.
The children loved the play area. Although there is not much to it, they really just enjoyed having the space to run about and make friends.
Dishwashing facilities were fine and I liked the fact that there were fire pits for hire. We didn't get one though - put off by the wind!
We enjoyed staying here but it would be nicer when less busy - there were quite a few large and noisy groups which made settling the little ones at night a bit tricky. But a great location, a great area for visitors of all areas, and a clean well-kept site.

Nydie is in a lovely location, just a few miles from St Andrews. It is set on a gently sloping hillside with views of the town and out to sea.
It's a relatively quiet site with plenty of space for kids to play safely away from the tents with a playpark and games area that's set up in such a way that makes it easy to keep and eye on them from almost every pitch.
I did feel some of the tents were pitched too close together although this wasn't a huge problem because there are only a few rows of tents in each area. The grass was kept very tidy.
The covered dishwashing area has 3 sinks and a useful picnic bench. It also has charging lockers for charging phones etc priced at £3 per day (a bit pricey I felt).
The toilet block was very clean. The ladies showers were rather temperamental, sometimes they were cold, other times ok and it would have been helpful if there was a little shelf or something to put your clothes on to keep them dry while you shower. Y
ou can hire a firepit which was a lovely addition to our camping experience, although a little expensive if you do this a few times (£5 for a pit per night then £2. 50 for the required fire log). There's a small shop on site that sells the basics.
The owners were friendly and helpful, one of them even set up and joined in a game of rounders on the Saturday evening, much enjoyed by most of the campsite which gave it a nice community feel.
The surrounding area has plenty to do for everyone. St Andrews is a lovely town with lots of character and lots to do and it's beach is one of the best I've been to. It kept the kids and our dog amused almost every day of our holiday, rain of shine. There's also a lovely beach and forest walks at Tentsmuir, a few miles away.
A nice site with lovely views and plenty to do within only a few miles by car. We'll definitely be back.

We visited this site with a group of friends for the weekend and we hired the woodwam/electric pitch area. The pitches are large and sheltered by hedges. There is a fantastic view over the adjacent field down to St Andrews and the North Sea.
The site is in a lovely countryside location close the the Fife towns of St Andrews and Cupar. There is a small shop at reception and a small playground and large grassed area for ball games.
The toilet blocks were warm and clean and despite the campsite being busy we didn't experience any queues. My only complaint would be that there is only one hook in the shower cubicles and no shelf/seat for your clothes/toiletries and no shelf in the actual shower for your soap/shampoo etc.
The washing up area had three sinks and plenty of hot water. There was also washing up liquid left out for campers to use which was a nice touch. We hired barbecues from the campsite which saved having to bring any with us which was very convenient.
On the Saturday we visited Cairnie Fruit Farm which is about 6 miles away. You can pick your own soft fruit, there is a lovely cafe, small shop and loads of activities for kids including trampolines, slides, swings and go-karts.
A great day out for families with children between about 2 and 10 years old. We would return to this site again and would recommend it to others who want to enjoy this lovely area of Scotland.

First time reviewer who felt compelled to give the pros & cons of Nydie.
Pros.
Upon arrival we were greeted very warmly and directed to our pitch which was clearly marked and very roomy. We were also orientated to the facilities.
There are fantastic views toward St Andrews and across to Leuchars, so be prepared for plenty of aircraft activity, which was great to watch.
The site is obviously well looked after, with short grass and plenty of open areas for kids to play free from traffic. Windbreaks and hedging have been installed with great thought as I can imagine that, due to it's open aspect, the wind could be quite strong. This wasn't an issue for us, as the weather was great for our stay.
Cons.
Most of these were unfortunately due to other campers and their disregard for others around them.
Many reviewers rave about the firepits that can be hired, however please beware. We found that they just encouraged large groups to stay up 'til the small hours getting boozed up, and unfortunately there were several large groups on the site. One particularly large group were asked to keep it down, but there response was not so pleasant and it began to feel intimidating. I appreciate that we are all on holiday, but there has to be a responsibility on the on site owners who live on site to nip such behaviours in the bud.
The other problem with the firepits is that now our tent stinks of woodsmoke, as there were many hired around us.
The facilities were clean though not adequate for the size of site. 4 Showers in the male block, but often only 2 were open at any one time. 3 sinks in the kitchen area, but it is very cramped.
There were plenty of bins available, but surprisingly no recycling points.
If in the area and you enjoy wildlife, check out the boat to the Isle of May from Anstruther. We caught the end of the puffins and the start of the seals arriving. Also the famous Fish & Chip shop in Anstruther was fantastic. Great shopping and sites in St Andrews, and worth the walk around the Old Course.

Spent a long weekend here with our young daughter. First camping trip and really pleased at family atmosphere, our wee girl made loads of friends.
The playground is in the middle of the field and can be seen from most of the pitches. Toilets / kitchen /washing up area were clean, although toilets got a bit messy as site got busier on Saturday, particularly into the evening.
Liked this so much I recommended to a friend whom also has a young family. She stayed over last weekend and echoed all I've said about kids playground etc, the weather was really hot. Unfortunately on the Saturday night a group mostly male, turned up staying in the Wigwams. She had a horrible night owing to the noise of the group, she tried to reason, which seemed to make things worse and eventually complained to the owners but nothing was done.
This site was on my visit again list, but owing to my friends experience I don't think we will.

We stayed for 3 nights over the June bank holiday. We were pitched in the top field where the woodwams are opposite to my brother's family who we were with. We were at the end of this field & had spectacular views of St Andrews and beyond as does the rest of the site. There are no cars allowed at this part, so we had to decant everything. At first we thought we wouldn't like this, but in hindsight it was better because the children could run freely etc.
The site because it's so high, can be windy, but the owner has put up windbreaks on the fences and in between the lower pitches. The site itself was very friendly with predominately young families. My children loved this site there is a large park at the bottom with football goals and a play area and new friends were made almost instantly. The site has a very safe feel about it. We managed to hire a fire pit on the Sunday night but I would recommend to book online before you go as these are very popular.
The toilet/shower block area was very clean but did get busy and slightly cramped but didn't have to wait for a shower, though there is a disabled/family shower room available for £5 key deposit.
All in all a lovely wee site for families very handy for St. Andrews and we will definitely go back but we were blessed with the weather ! It was sunny and dry our first camp with no rain what a difference. Also thanks to Sue the owner who did some essential laundry for our other party who have very young children, this was very kind.
