This is a lovely site, with fantastic views towards St Andrews and over the surrounding countryside. The site is quite hilly so therefore be prepared for having your tent on a slight slope.
The facilities are good (no groovy club with entertainment so always a bonus!)however the weekend we were there the site was extremely busy, hookups were scarce and tents were squeezed in with scant regard for those already there. There are new toilets and showers however these were unclean on more than one occasion.
Water running on the floor. Dirty toilets and no toilet paper was really the norm which was a shame. The showers and toilets were only cleaned in the morning which was completely inadequate considering the site was so busy.
The site appeared over booked (although not noisy) but because of that there were lengthy queues to use the toilets.Wash your hands.Use the showers. And wash your dishes.
I would probably using the site again but the owners need to consider providing adequate facilities if they insist on packing their land full of people.

We spent six nights at Nydie, the last week in july and had a lovely relaxing time.
The Pitches are spacious enough at 10m by 10m though could do with being a bit better marked as it was a struggle to see the lines between pitches. We were pitched at the top of the field which was on a bit of a slope, so depending where we sat our table, the bowls and cups slid off, which was a bit annoying. The pitches at the bottom looked a lot more level but they are right nxt to the road so we were happy to be up the top.
The Toilets and showers were cleaned daily, during busy times they did run out of toilet rolls and hand towels but I went to owner and she was grateful to be told about it and got them filled up. The showers were free and always hot. I loved them cos they were really powerful, but the kids weren't so keen.
My only criticism of the toilet and shower area would be the space, it was very cramped during busy times and could have done with having a bit more space for moving, the hair dryers(which again are free) were right outside the shower cubicles, but there was only space for one person to stand there so people were constantly squeezing past each other.
The owners were very friendly and helpful, bringing rolls up to our tent and even directions to the laundrette in St Andrews, when we had to make an emergency visit after our youngest had an accident in sleeping bag! No laundrette on site but the one we went to does a service wash for £6. 50 a load, we used it once, only cos we had to.
On arrival sam (the owner) asked the ages of our kids and told us of some suitable things to do locally which we thought was really nice. He even brought out football nets for the kids. The play park is small and basic, but it really wasn't a problem, even when it was busy the kids all seemed to play happily together. And there was so much grass area for bikes, balls and whatever else the kids had to amuse themselves. Whilst on the site, we never saw our kids, but the best thing was, even though we were not pitched right beside the park, we could see the kids play without needing to be right beside them, the boys (aged 3 and 6) loved the freedom this site offered.
There are a couple of parks locally which we cycled to with kids, the road never seemed to be too busy, a pub just down the road, which we didn't visit but we were told that its sometimes best to reserve a table. St Andrews has a swimming pool which is fairly small but was fine and kids go free during hols, which was even better. They also have an inflatable obstacle course on for an hour in the morning at no extra charge which our boys loved.
All in all this was a fab wee site, basic, but just how we like it, the kids loved it and we'll definitely be back!

Just back from a 4 day stay here, with my husband, daughter and a couple of family members that joined us on the second night who brought there own tents and there was no problem with them sharing our pitch. We have a 6 man tent (zenobia 6) and there was still plenty of room on pitch which was great as there is nothing worse than a crammed campsite. We were at the top of the site with 'ehu' which has lovely views.
There is a small shop on site which is handy, there is a kids play area and goal posts for footy, plenty of bins and a fresh water tap, there is dishwashing facilities, could do with a couple more as when it is busy you can have a bit of a wait.
There is a pub about 1 mile away, and a morrisons etc about 10 min drive away, would recommend visiting st Andrews town lots to see and do.
The only complaint is the toilets/showers,not enough of them for site this size, ran out of toilet roll and paper towels, gents showers tiny, could do with being cleaned more as sight was packed, bit of a let down. Other than that would recommend.

We stayed at the campsite during the Golf Open week, there were four of us in the party, three adults and a toddler.
We were really impressed with the site. The owners were very organised and pre-allocated pitches which was a really good idea. They were very generous with the pitch sizes as well allocating every tent, regardless of size, a 10m x 10m size pitch. We had a largish tent and found we still had plenty of outside space.
The toilet blocks were extremely clean, we noticed them being cleaned regularly throughout the day and never had to ask for more toilet roll, hand towels or soap. An added bonus was the parent and child shower facility which came in very handy and was a nice touch, this is the first campsite we've come across that had one. The only comment was they could do with a mirror in there though.
The water was always warm which given the amount of people using them, was very good. They even arranged for extra portaloos and showers on the site to cope with the demand. The owners were really accommodating and used their own tumble drier to help out some of us rain-soaked visitors.
The shop was handy to have and had basic rations that you would need but the site isn't far from St Andrew's so we tended to get most of our supplies from the Tesco or Morrisons in town.
The site was a bit hilly and exposed and we had to leave a day early because of the 50mph winds but all in all we found it to be really well run, clean and would definitely recommend it to anybody wanting to camp in the area.
We didn't go to the tavern down the road, but went out to Anstruther's Waterfront Restaurant based on a recommendation from Sue the owner. We pre-booked it as we thought it would be busy during the open. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal there, the service was very good and the food lovely. We had their 'high tea' special, which was incredible value for £10 for a main meal, plus tea/coffee, toast, cakes and scones.

Decided to go to this site just in case the weather turned bad and it wasn't far from home and stay 1 night.
Stayed 2 days, plenty of space, arrived on a Saturday, site had around 15ish tents up. They all disappeared on Sunday and we virtually had the site to ourselves. Great views out to sea. Plenty of room for the kids.
Basic but good showers etc. Plenty hot water. There is covered washing up area. Will be back for sure.
There is a pub about 1 mile down the road, good food.

What a find! This is a great campsite as the others have said. Peace and quiet at night was a massive plus. Plenty of space for kids (and big kids!) to run around, no clearly marked pitches so you could pretty much pitch as far or as close as you want.
We asked for EHU and were restricted to the top of the site to be close to the power but having said that we would have had spectacular view if it wasn't for the rain, mist and fog. The site is really geared up for lovely weather but if you are seasoned campers you'll know all about not being able to pre-book the weather and you'll take a pack of cards!
Toilet facilities are clean and adequate - toilet roll included, showers warm with push buttons which last about 15 seconds. The owners said that the new block for the ladies was only a week old and it was immaculate - lets hope it stays like this and people look after it. I suggested more hooks, chairs or shelves in the shower cubicles and this was positively received by the owner. Washing up facilities are adequate - no separate clothes washing or machines but lots of work going on so this may be in the pipeline - I didn't ask.
Overall, we will be back - had a really good time and the only negative was as usual the one thing you cant buy - the weather.

Just back from a weekend at this site. Enjoyable - a basic site but a nice location and clean facilities. This is clearly a great site for families, particularly extended families and/or family groups with large tents, as it doesn't have set 'pitches' and there were two large family groups camping there while I was there, who were able to set up adjacent tents. However as a lone camper looking for peace and quiet, this wasn't great - particularly when the campsite owner apparently directed one group to camp practically on top of me. There's 10 acres of space, guys. I moved my tent in the end. I often camp as part of a group of women and kids, and I'd come back to do that, but probably not on my own. Great site for kids though, plenty of room to run around!
PS. I've rated 5 out of 10 for value for money - £10 a night for a one person tent - OK, I had a car, but I suspect the prices are also geared to families and tents the size of small countries!

What a lovely relaxing weekend we spent here!
It has a great big lush field with plenty of space so we were spoilt for choice were to pitch tent!
Toilets and showers were clean but probably not enough of them (which is a good complaint I suppose as they are busy!) but it was quiet at the weekend so no problem; dish-washing facilities immaculate.
Like to point out that sam the guy that owns the campsite is a complete gentleman, he comes over and introduces himself and also gave us some windbreakers as it was a bit on the windy side! as we had left ours at home! so cheers for that sam!
Trip to Beautiful St Andrews which is only about 10 minutes away was well worth it - has to be one of the most beautiful towns I have visited in Scotland.
There is a Pub/Tavern about 20 minutes walk away. So all in all great weekend and nice campsite.

We visited Nydie in March this year and, despite being advertised as being open from March, we were informed when booking that they didn't actually open until April this year. Despite this they did offer to accommodate us and were more than happy to receive us out of season.
Being so early in the season we were the only ones in the campsite on the Friday night. This was great however a caravan did turn up on the Saturday but the site was obviously more than big enough for the two of us.
When we arrived the owner couldn't be more friendly, taking us round and showing us where to pitch etc. They even have extension cables available for the hook ups if you need it.
The site is basically one big field. The views are nice over to the water. On the other side of the campsite are farm fields with sheep in them. This was obviously very interesting for our German Shepherd. There was one sheep that was roaming the campsite which the owner informed us seemed to keep escaping from the farmers field. At one point it did run right past our tent. Again, much interest from the GSD.
The toilet and shower facilities are limited and basic but clean. They are however planning to expand these. The washing facilities/kitchen area was really handy.
We did take a firepit with us and there was no problem having a nice fire. This was a really nice touch.
As mentioned in other reviews St Andrews is very close and is a lovely town and there is also the pub about 20 mins walk from the campsite.

What a lovely relaxing night we spent here! The kids had a ball!
I great big lush field with plenty of space for the kids to let off steam and a nice little play area - the owners couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly.
Toilets and showers were clean but probably not enough of them (which is a good complaint I suppose as they are busy!); dish-washing facilities immaculate.
Our visit coincided with the RAF Leuchars Air Show so we had lots of Red Arrows flying over head to impress us!
Trip to Beautiful St Andrews which is only about 10 minutes away was well worth it - has to be one of the most beautiful towns I have visited in Scotland.
There is a Pub/Tavern about 20 minutes walk away and we decided to have dinner there - however, stupidly, we didn't think to book and had to walk all the way back to site with stroppy, hungry kids in tow protesting all the way! Ended up having to eat our breakfast for dinner as there are no shops within walking distance (that we found) and there weren't suitable things for sale in the teeny-weeny camp shop (it's tea bags/coffee/jam/toilet roll etc - oh and fresh morning rolls on a Sunday!) AND we had opened the wine a little bit too early to drive anywhere!
All in all a wonderful camping experience (and only my second EVER!) - would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the 'Groovy Gang' entertainment of more commercialized sites - it is an absolute credit to the lovely ownders - we shall be back! WITH FRIENDS!
