Stayed here for two nights over bank holiday weekend, site was busy but not overcrowded. The owners were very welcoming and friendly. Lovely views over countryside. This is a working farm so expect some noise from animals tractors etc. We were told there was no rush to leave on our last day so stayed until early evening which makes a pleasant change. If towing a caravan please take notice of sign saying engage low gear at bottom of hill as it becomes extremely steep near the top. Will visit again.

We have camped at Bungdale Head camp site several times and found the site welcoming and friendly. The site is perfect for walking on the moors and visiting any attraction within North Yorkshire. The owners are friendly and helpful in every respect. The toilets and washing facilities are kept clean and in good order. For those with children there is plenty of room to play, etc. We will be visiting Bungdale Head again and recommend this idyllic location to everyone who enjoys camping or caravaning.

Great little camp site on a working farm so plenty of animal noises especially the sheep as they had just had lambs,
Great views across the hills and moors, 2 clean toilet blocks with hot water, friendly owners, rained when we visited but will visit again.
Plenty of walk ways and pub near by. Hemsley and pickering only a short drive away. We had a walk along the cleveland way. Will need to take activities for the children as there is no play area.
Plenty of space round each pitch not crammed in. Rates very reasonable.

We have just returned from spending three nights at this peaceful campsite with our two children.
We received a warm welcome from the owner on arrival and were delighted to know that they had turned people away, although there was ample space on the site. It is such a pleasure to have a site which is quiet, peaceful and where we are not cramped in to a small pitch.
Although there was no shower, we survived. The toilets were lovely and clean and there was plenty of toilet roll.
The surroundings were beautiful and we walked to Rievaulx Abbey and the Hare in Scawton. (We knew this was likely to be out of our price range but we were made welcome when we asked for four drinks. )
To me this is what camping is about -beautiful surroundings, lots of open space, animals. Thank you.

Just had a wonderful 5 night stay at this small, basic but very clean and well run site. Very friendly owners, no booking necessary (we changed plans at the last minute having seen the weather forecast for the Lake District).
It's just a field with two toilets, nothing more. Wonderful hilltop location, with great views - but things might get be interesting in high winds. Rievaulx Abbey a walk away.
A shower would be really nice though.
Finally, a plug for the excellent pub in Scawton, the Hare. Would recommend to anyone; we had the early bird menu (6-7pm), great value and impossible to fault the food, plus a lovely walk back to the site afterwards.

I camped at this farm, when I did the Cleveland Way last week and this is a lovely site, which is only about a 20 minute walk from the Cleveland Way.
The site is well kept and the two toilets are very clean, also plenty of hot water for a wash, but no showers. The field is sheltered with some good views and there is a cold water tap on the field.
It is friendly place to be, nice and quiet. There is a pub in nearby Scawton and only a short across the fields, saving a walk up the steep bank on the narrow road.
If, you are looking for a basic site walking the Cleveland Way, then this is it.

Situated on back of working farm up a huge steep bank, but worth it for the views from the campsite.
Basic facilities only two toilets but fine for a weekend stay.
Pub in village about a mile away by road up very steep banks but only about twenty mins if you cut through the forest. Not worth the walk if you are only going for a drink this is a foody pub as been mentioned before and not made to feel welcome if your only after a pint. Previous reviews have stated £2.50 for a bowl of chips we were charged £3.75!
Four miles walk to Helmsley which was lovely following the clevland way footpath.
Overall an excellent site and would return but wouldn't bother with the Hare Inn pub.

Arranged to meet my sister in law here for one night catch up. Lovely surroundings owners very friendly and welcoming, they did not bother you or rush you off site the next day which does make a welcome change. Toilets basic but fine for what you need, very peaceful did get some noise of sheep and tractors but it was nice actually. Local pub is a good walk and you have to like hills as steep on way back! food is excellent and staff very friendly but would say is little on pricey side we ordered to portions of chips and got one small bowl to share which ended up costing £7.50 a lot of think for one fried potato! all in all fantastic campsite lovely to catch up and enjoy couple bottles of wine in such beautiful surroundings will definitely go back

Just returned from this campsite. It is very basic in that it only has two toilets and no showers, but you do get used to that. The toilets were clean and the owners were accommodating and didn't rush us off the site at the end of our stay.
The location makes up for lack of facilities as its amongst beautiful countryside, the lovely town of Helmsley is a good walk away and the fantastic Hare Inn is very close by.
