We were apprehensive after reading the 2009 reviews, but after a telephone conversation with the park we were assured everything is ok. On arrival we were advised where our pitch was, given a barrier key and off we went. We had booked one of the Super pitches. The pitch size was excellent, the caravan stood on tarmac and the awning on gravel. The tarmac section is big enough to accommodate the big motorhomes however the gravel section for the awning was sparsely covered with gravel and was just big enough for our awning.(19ft Caravan) This meant we stepped straight out of the awning onto grass. There was no separation between pitches if you like your own space.
On our first visit to the 'best' toilet block everything was good, good size hot showers, heated, piped music, although on other occasions we found them a bit messy. I think they were only cleaned once a day. We didn't try the pool, the weather was too cold. All in all it's not a bad park but it is expensive for what you get

Great site, very friendly staff, showers and toilet blocks very clean. Water taps everywhere. The food in the bar was cheap and good, 2 meals for £10
Good location for poole, bournmouth, etc. splash down water park is a must for the kids if they like flumes.
We will be going back. There is a camping shop next door that sells every thing and an on site shop that sells your essentials and a bit more

Very nice site, easy to get to and well laid out. Well stocked shop and very helpful wardens, toilet/shower facilities excellent, kept very clean with piping hot showers! Pub/Club only open weekends out of peak season. Very near to Poole and Bournemouth and the lovely market town of Wimborne. Also near to the beautiful New Forest, well worth a visit to this site.

I just returned from a weekend away at this site. We had a electric hook up and drinking water taps seemed to be every pitch. There was plenty of hot water and the showers/toilets blocks were always clean when we used them during the day. The club house was nothing special with only a limited menu but the staff were very helpful. I would return to this site as it is well laid out and nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff.

This was a return visit for us and we were disappointed with the facilities. The toilets really do need to be cleaned more often the walls and floor need a good scrub. Only one shower block open and the water was not that hot, and you had to wait awhile for them to get to that temperature. The club was open but it was not that warm in there so we went back to the caravan to have a drink. We like this area and often use it.

What a fabulous site - modern and spotlessly clean. There were security passes to enable you to get in. The site is 10 acres with a woodland walk. There was a rally going on and all the vans were decorated up for Christmas - truly magical!
The shower blocks were superb. TV reception not very good though.
We had a hard standing pitch.
Staff were very polite and friendly.
We would use again.

A well situated site close to Poole and Bournemouth.
Access is straight forward. The wide private driveway leads to the site off the A31 A349. The site is beautifully laid out and the fountain that greets you at the park entrance sets the scene.
The site is divided into several different pitching areas with toilet blocks dotted around the site. These were cleaned daily and there were never queues, but you do wonder if people would treat their bathroom at home in the same disgusting manner. Pitch sizes can vary.
The site boasts a shop, coffee shop, bar with pool tables, games room with arcade and skittle alley, tennis courts, mini football pitch, table tennis, play area and woodland dog walk.
Site wardens were very friendly and helpful. The bar on site serves food, but at the time of visit the menu was limited and food of an average quality. Superb food is available at the nearby Lams Green Lane Inn.
Adjacent to the site is a well stocked and reasonably priced caravan and camping shop.
The bar on site is more of a pub than a club, which suited us fine and noise nuisance was never a problem.
At the time of visit a hard standing serviced pitch for up to 6 occupants was only £16 per night, which I thought represented excellent value for money.

We visited this site for one week, we booked a forest pitch but when we arrived it was completely waterlogged so the very helpful site manager found us another pitch. It was not a proper pitch but an overflow pitch and was not really big enough for our tent. We managed to fit on just about.
Although the site is very nice I do not feel it quite deserves it's 5 star status. The toilet blocks were not cleaned often enough! The soap dispenser was leaking and was not cleaned for 2 days. The toilet roll ran out frequently and they smelt quite bad.
I also think that the outside pool needs a bit of a refurb, it has seen better days and the life guard could have a lesson in watching the pool instead of playing on her mobile phone.
Also the bins were very smelly and not emptied often enough.
We asked for a late checkout as time is 10am very early if you have a large tent to take down, we asked for a late checkout we were told yes that should be fine but just check night before. Guess what it was a problem someone was coming onto our pitch following day. Anyway we packed up as quickly as we could to then find out that no one was booked into our overflow pitch!
It was a pricey site and I expected great things, which sadly we didn't get and we wont be returning.

We booked this site as it was a Best of British one but I have to say it was the most disappointing of all the BoB sites we've used. To be fair, it was the August Bank Holiday weekend and the site was bursting at the seams, but we did find that there were always queues for the showers first thing in the morning. The best time to have one is early afternoon, just after they've been cleaned and everyone else is off-site! The fact that they were only cleaned once a day is something I've never come across before on a BoB site. The other issue was the fact that bins were only emptied first thing in the morning and, with the site being so busy, they quickly overflowed - not nice on the couple of hot days we did have!
There were some very well placed pitches, and some which weren't so nice - right in front of the toilet blocks for instance! The 'back to basics' camping in the woods seemed really fun but it was a little bit dark under there and must have been quite cold as it never got the sun! The best advice is to go on to the site's interactive map on their website and pick your pitch if you can - point to note, the toilet block in the middle of the site seemed to be the nicest.
There was an outdoor swimming pool on site, which we didn't use but it was always packed and seemed clean. The small play area was perfect for little ones and there was also a 'soft toy' area indoors for under 7s. The traditional arcade games room went down well with older kids.
One thing that is definitely needed though, Shorefield, is some investment in the bar area. It is far too small for the size of the site and is very dated.
Moans over, the good points. The position of the site is ideal for Poole and Bournemouth and the beach at Poole (Sandbanks) is fantastic. We spent the whole day there and had to drag the kids away - clean sand and water, lifeguards on duty, play area, cafe, loos - but get there early for a car parking space! We also used the sister site at Oakdene - indoor swimming pool with flume which was great but freezing, and evening entertainment for kids and adults. Eating wise, there's a great Toby Carvery on the way into Poole and many pubs in Poole itself. There's an enormous Tesco about 10 minute drive away for self-catering.
Overall, I would go to this site again, but I'd pick my pitch with care. Whilst it is a good site in comparison to some, I don't think it warrants it's Best of British prestige.

This was our first camping trip. When we arrived there was a separate lane for new arrivals which was very handy. It was very easy to find our pitch as the camp site has a one way system and we got a free map! the size of the pitches was very good and well marked out, our pitch (108) was in the middle so a bit of a walk to get to the loo's but it was ok, the toilet/shower block s were very clean and had music being played. The washing up facilities were great too. The heated pool was lovely and our two daughters enjoyed it very much, they also used the play park area and enjoyed riding their bikes around the site, we ate at the pub/clubhouse once and found it to be very nice, they also have an ice cream parlour which was lovely!and run by a very helpful and polite young lady the shop facilities were great and the staff there were very nice and helpful too. The site is very well situated we went to a lot of places by car while we were there, they have a lot of information about the local area and local attractions available. Thank you to all. We had a lovely stay.
