 On arrival down a small stretch of single file rd we arrived at river dart. Once paid and allocated our pitch we started to level our caravan and what a job it was.We had a chock under the caravan and it was right on the top and the van was still un level it took us around 20mins just to decide which way to put the van for the best level as we would be here for a week but Alas we never managed it.:-(
The pitch size we had was huge including in the pitch price a small pop up tent and gazebo
The weather wasn't that bad but when it did rain we had loads to do from zip wire 3 tokens £1 each, water zorbing 5 tokens (NEW), canoeing, adventure park, lake with its own very small beach (needed more cleaner sand) tree climbing 9 tokens etc
Showers and toilets where spotless and very warm and hot.
Restaurant on site which was very reasonable in price for food and drinks.
Small shop which sold the norm, bread milk sweets etc.
All in all an excellent site whether its windy,sunny,raining loads to do for kids and adults alike.

What a fab place!
We (2 adults, 3 kids aged 6,8 & 10)stayed for six nights this July could happily have stayed another week.
It rained for most of the week but this did not spoil the holiday at all. The lake with pirate ship and ropeswings was a big hit with the kids but I would recommend wet suits and shoes which can be purchased very reasonably on site.
The adventure playgrounds were great fun but need wellies if the weather isn't good.
There are many other activities on site but there is an extra charge.
The tent field was good even though it rained - the pitches are quite close together though.
The shower/toilet block was adequate and clean enough.
Definitely go back but for longer next time.

Having stayed at this Park on numerous occasions I cannot rate it highly enough. The pitches are large and not at all cramped, the facilities are more than adequate and clean at all times. I've never had to queue for either shower, toilet or washing up sink, despite the camp being very busy at times.
I never have to worry about the children having nothing to do as the adventure playgrounds, slides and activities are enough to keep the most energetic children (or adults) busy. The staff are always very friendly and polite and the overall atmosphere is one of friendly fun.
My most recent visit was with a group of 10 students with learning and physical disabilities. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, providing us with an oversized pitch area. We were occupied the whole time we were there despite having a lot of rain, films were played in the restaurant area for those who wanted to stay dry.
Highly recommend for families, groups or couples.

We camped here for the weekend with our 2yr old and some friends and had a great time staff were friendly and the check in was quick. The site is also open to day visitors, we had visitor's who had to pay the entrance fee to come and visit.
The pitches were very big we had electric hook up and our friends who didn't were just across the road from us the only downfall was that the electric hook up isn't close to the pitch so you can pay a £30 refundable deposit for an extension lead. As other people have said it is on a slight slope we have a vermont l and we fitted on fine with plenty of room for the car and sitting space.
This is truly a great place to come to if you have children, the play areas are brilliant and they have a toddlers play area today which was fab. The other main attraction is the pirate ship and the lake which looked ok on the Friday evening but by sat late afternoon as there had been lots of children in there the water had become a little more cloudy, I would highly suggest a wet/sun suit or old clothes and swimming shoes as there are stones on the bottom. They do have a small man made beach but the sand is a little gritty, they also have a few walks and a nature pond and they also offer many other activities which I can't comment on as we didn't use them.
We used the bar which was reasonable prices for beer and soft drinks and also we had lunch on the sat which was very reasonable to and nice and pleasant, they also had all you can eat pizza and pasta on the sat night which cost 7.95 we didn't use this but it looked very popular.
We used the shop and it seemed to stock quite a few fair things though things were on the pricey side e.G 3.50 for a small disposable bbq they didn't sell alcohol in the shop but I did see a few people buy from the bar and take away, the bar also has a pool table. The games room had a few machine riding and shooting games and a juke box, pool table and grabbing sweets game and a few more. The swimming pool looked on the small side but as the website says shut on a sat due to weddings and then part of the area is closed off due to this, though you can still get to all the amenities.
Now for the toilets they seemed nice enough though my only grumble not cleaned enough twice a day late morning and early evening, it was very busy but I never had to queue they also have sinks though they didn't seem to have enough of these, you can use a hairdryer for 20p, they also had a laundry room with iron, ironing board washers and dryers and they also had freezers where you could freeze ice packs only, also had a disabled toilet and shower room. Also the washing up area was good and they had racks so you could let the washing up drip.
The area of Ashburton is very nice and it has two butchers and a fishmongers the somerfield shop is very small, if we'd been there longer then I'm sure we would have explored more.
There was another camping field that also had a baby changing room a pull down changing mat thing and a bigger sink so you could bathe a baby, on this site they also had a table tennis table, they also have tennis courts but you do have to take ya own bats and balls.
We would go back here but maybe when it was a little quieter, also there's not much lights at night so don't forget a bright torch. A lot of children also took bikes which did become a bit of a hazard at times. Just think the toilet facilities could do with a bit updating and maybe some child washing facilities would be great, seen as it is pointed at that market.

Was very busy when we arrived at end of the half-term, and although we had a large pitch the site felt cramped. That being said, the toilet block and washing up facilities seemed adequate with no queues.
In the area we were in you were back to back with other units, so surrounded on 3 sides and a lot of the people were there in groups of 2-4 tents with windbreak 'ghettos' everywhere.
The site was very green, but even in the flattest areas has a noticeable slope.
The kids adventure play areas and the pond are great for ages 6-12. For these alone we would go back as the kids loved it.
The first two nights were spoiled by inconsiderate campers talking loudly till the early hours. Everyone disappeared on the Sunday and it was lovely after that.
We didn't use the shop or the bar, so can't comment on those. The icecream bar near the pond was good value, but was not open on 1st June - if I had paid as a day visitor I would have been disappointed not to have the facility to buy icecream / drinks.
The toilets were functional, they were 'clean-ish' - not dirty, but not spotless either. Be warned, if showering early morning or late at night the lights in the shower end of the block come on via a motion sensor. Once you are in the shower the lights go off and you have no way of getting them back on unless someone else comes in, or you step out of the cubicle!
Although this sounds negative, we did really like the site - its just the other people that were there that spoiled it for me - never been so happy as when the neighbours packed up!

My sister and I stayed here with our four children aged 10-13 for 3 nights in the May half term. She had been before, so when we arrived and were given our plot she asked if we could go on the overflow field instead. This was much better as the main areas were very crowded and not much space between pitches. We had plenty of space on the overflow field and had a great time. The facilities were very good, plenty of toilets and showers that were very clean, plenty of hot water. Lots of sinks for washing up with hot water all the time. The bar looked nice although we didin't use it. The children loved the river, pool and tennis courts. There was an arcade room and pool table which I thought my son would disappear to, but none of the four children asked for any money at all for the whole three days. Even when we offered they preferred to play tennis or go for walks along the river etc. As we only live an hour away we didn't have to explore so we didn't leave the site, but we were never bored.

Absolutely fantastic site, I can't praise this site enough. Huge pitch sizes in a stunning location. The whole place is very well kept, wardens are very helpful, toilets / showers are adequate and kept clean and then we get to the main attraction of this site. If you have kids this place is a godsend. Down in the woods is an excellent adventure playground with slides and zipwires etc. Part of the river has been dammed and the resulting small lake has been turned into a 'fun pool' complete with large pirate ship in the middle.
There are also other facilities dotted around the site for kids of all ages. The only problem with this site is that your kids will never let you camp anywhere else.
On site shop is reasonable and the on site bar is a nice place for a drink although in my opinion the food wasn't up to much. This is not a problem though as there is plenty of choice of places to eat in the local village.

Only booked this site 2 weeks before our arrival. Beware of the narrow country lanes from the A38 to the site.
Arrival/Reception
After passing a barrier and crossing the River Dart, you drive down a small road through a country park to the reception area which is in a large old house. The staff were polite and friendly and directed us to our pitch in the ‘walled garden’. As we arrived, the rain that had fallen during the previous 3-4 days had turned the entrance to the walled garden into a swamp. Tractors were available (and needed) to tow people out.
The pitch we had was clean and well marked out.
Facilities
Loads of stuff to do both on and off site so of which needs booking so if possible book them before you go otherwise you’ll end up having the slots that are available rather than which suit your timetable. Some facilities do have to be paid for as extras to the site fees.
Pub
Lacks atmosphere, it’s a bit like a school/works canteen in that respect but it’s ok for families. There’s a patio area too but with the rain we had it was a non-starter.
Shop
Stocked all the usual stuff but a bit small for the size of the site.
Pool
Kids used this and enjoyed it but it’s not that big.
Adventure Park
Best feature of the park. Loads of stuff for most ages of kids.
Grounds
Well maintained and nice to walk around. The river Dart runs along one edge of the park.
Local
The site is quite handy for Brixham, Torquay and Paignton. (20 minutes away)
Overall 8/10
Nice park that we’d be happy to recommend to others, especially those with kids that like zip wire and adventure parks.

We stayed here at the end of August and were lucky to have some lovely days.
We travelled from the Lizard at the bottom end of Cornwall and found the directions easy to follow and sign posting very clear - which is handy if, like us, you get lost easily.
Fantastic site, beautiful surroundings and good sized pitches. Food in the bar was good but stay away from Chinese and Indian take away in Ashburton their food was not good, eight of us bought take outs and no one enjoyed their meal. We had been recommended this campsite and will be telling others about it.
Our children are 3, 8 and 10 and had the most fantastic time, the activities in the woods kept them very entertained - us grown ups had a go on some of them. The pirate ship in the lake looked great, next year we're bringing a dingy for the children to use on the lake. The walks around the woods are lovely and the secret valley was very tranquil and pretty, we found a quiz which you could fill in by finding out facts from information signs throughout the park, I thought they could have had different treasure hunts perhaps one you pay to enter and can find a prize at the end.
It was amazing how with so many people camping you did not ever feel crowded either on the pitches or in any part of the park. Reception staff were friendly, and the guys at the bar were lovely particularly when one of our little girls fell over and we needed a bit of first aid. There was a small games room and large bar / cafe area to escape to if needs be. Only downside for me were the toilets which where we camped were a bit tatty.
We will however be booking again next year !

This was our first camping experience, and it absolutely chucked it down so we were grateful of the plentiful facilities available. It's a large busy site, and my biggest gripe was the noise levels by some ignorant campers late on who openly ignored the rulebook and gassed away excessively until the early hours.
As a fully experienced camper of 6 weeks now I have to confess that I prefer the smaller quieter sites. However I am sure my 3 year old Son will have plenty to say about that as he gets older so I am certain that we will be back again next summer.
