This touring park now has new owners. The utility block was bleached, mopped and cleaned every day. They have new ideas, and we look forward to staying with them in the future.
The site is extremely close to Truro, a couple of miles only making shopping, visiting theatres and bars easy. The local pub is within walking distance, up a sloping lane, they serve meals and usually have a guest beer for you to try.
Most areas of Cornwall can be reached by car in just over an hour, making this site central for all of Cornwall. The local beach (of Seaside Rescue fame) is clean and the town has shops and places to eat.
This touring park is a quiet site, with areas for wild life, wild flowers which is probably why it has a David Bellamy award.

We were very disappointed to notice the toilet block was not cleaned for 3 days in a row. After complaining with the owner, the showers were hosed down with a pressure washer, but the floor in the toilet area as well as in the dishwashing area was never cleaned wet. Only with a broom. Also the tiles seamed to be forgotten. Also the floor around the man's urinals was not properly cleaned, so the smell was horrible. When we arrived, the owner had a smouldering fire going, just a few meters from the pitches. We were told it was only pruning wood, but the smoke and the smell were very unpleasant and unbearable. A couple staying in a tent, were just in the wind direction of the smoke. They smelled it for days, and finally had to put it out there selves with buckets of water and some poking around in the smouldering fire.
The site is in a park setting, the green and flowers are beautiful. No views from the site on the surrounding area. Due to a mistake in a reservation by the owner we had a fall out with other campers regarding children playing football almost in our awning. When we left, there was no trace of our registration card. In case of an emergency, we would not have been missed! It is a shame, because the spot is just right for exploring Cornwall and the setting again is beautiful.
Nice large pitches, electric hook-ups, special places for tents and a library. We think 18 pounds a night is far to much money for what, especially regarding the toilet block, is offered.

In brief this is a lovely place to stay. This was my second camping adventure with my children aged boy 9 girl 12.
After a long day at the beach or at an attraction my kids had fun at the park area.Meeting other camper children and having fun.
The camp shop was well priced.Cheep would be the word.
This was a little bit of peace heaven and I loved every moment of my stay.Whatever the weather.

What a wonderful site, the day we arrived my wife was to ill to help me and to my amazement the site owners saw my predicament and came to assist me in setting up both caravan and awning. This wonderful attitude was noted by us several times during our stay towards fellow campers. The site is both blissfully quite and pretty, washing facilities were excellent, ample hot water in showers. The toilet block was always very clean and tidy. The shop is well stocked with the things you forget to bring and a daily paper can be ordered if you want. In short this is a great site with great owners who go the extra mile to make your stay a good one and yes we will be going back again this year its that good!

We were lucky enough to experience fab weather for our week at this site and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners are helpful and friendly. The showers and toilet blocks were spotless and our 7 year old loved the campers room (which he called the library) where you could borrow books (children's and adults) and find out info about local attractions. There is a shop selling basics which is open for several hours in the morning and late afternoon / evening and the owners encourage recycling. The beautiful Perranporth beach is only 10 mins by car and Truro with a 24 hour Tesco is only 5 mins. I would definitely return to this site for its lovely relaxing atmosphere and its proximity to local attractions.

Just come back from a really enjoyable week there. The site was busy but brilliantly located for the whole of Cornwall, we travelled from the site right up to North Cornwall & down to Lands End easily.
Showers are free and clean, never had to queue. The owners are friendly & could not have been more helpful, nothing was a trouble for them. Small shop on site which stocked basics & you can order a newspaper for the following day. For tenters there was even a day room with comfy chairs & magazines, which beats sitting in a tent if it rains. No allocated pitches so can be a bit close together at peak times, some are sloping but owner will provide blocks if needed & caravans & tents are mixed but it was a real family site & still managed to be fairly quiet & respectable even though pretty full. Pitch prices are very reasonable indeed. Will definitely return soon. Quite a gem.

Sept 03 Of our six camping trips this year, four of them found us back at Summer Vally.
If you are looking for a quiet, well run site in a beautiful location - the whole of Cornwall is easily accessible from this site - then look no further.

August 1999 It's quite a while since we camped here. We were there for the eclipse. The site was excellent, very well maintained and the staff great and helpful. Very accessible and a good layout with a one-way loop aroud the site which assists traffic in and out. It's up on a hill so the water was in limited supply if you were last to the showers which occaisionally ran completey dry if I remember correctly but they were free if memory serves. Ice packs were always rock solid from the fridge too. This was probably due to the owner managing the packs in-and-out rather than the normal free-for-all every 5 minutes you sometimes get on other sites. Would certainly stay there again.

May/June 2002 My advice to you all is to stay far away from this site - that way I/we will be able to enjoy this beautifully well kept camp site all to ourselves! The owners, Chris and Ann are a delight and can very quickly become firm friends due to their helpfulness, willingness to help and always being at hand when needed. The site is kept in a beautiful condition and that dreaded toilet block, a pleasure to visit! So -DO NOT spread the word about this little jewel of a campsite. Well, ok then, lets just keep it between you and me! Enjoy!
