Facilities all there, all a little basic though. Hookup present, water tap nearby. Great views, probably the best mountain views in the U.K, truly stunning!
Best, as other reviewers have noted, for people used to a bit of rough camping, rather than the posh.
Would stay again.

Stayed at this site last weekend (April 10-12).
What can I say. The views were awesome.
The hotel over the road brewing it's own beer which was very potent! A word to the wise though, dont come here if you belong to the plastic-flowers-in-the caravan window mob. The site is basic and a bit boggy in places, the toilets are basic too but do the job.
The warden only turns up a couple of times a day to collect the money, I missed the midges - it being April, but I'm Scottish so have met them many times before. My two dogs had a great time, the warden guy did not bother, but recommended the hotel as being dog friendly.
I loved it and will definitely be back!

Caravanning and camping as it used to and should be. No booking required which leaves you free to roam as you please. Friendly helpful warden, very laid back giving no pressure! Fantastic views all around. Even better - no shops. Toilet block warm and clean although pallets in ladies shower area need replacing. Lovely warm showers though! Will definitely be back. Good for the mind, body and soul!

This was a great site for traditional camping, great location, good services, reasonable price, warden is really helpful and polite and friendly, what more do you need. The views of the cuillins are probably the sites biggest asset along with a bar and restaurant just over the road. The site is primarily aimed at walkers and climbers and not the English Riviera set. Toilets and showers are cleaned daily and you're not pestered by an over zealous warden, he was really helpful to a lot of people while I was there. I shall definitely return to Sligachan campsite

Lovely location with views of Cuillins and a sea loch and ideal place for walking - there are several good walks you can do from the campsite. Midges terrible. Plenty of toilets and showers but not the cleanest (dead midges all round the sinks) and the floor of the ladies' toilets and showers was permanently flooded. Free hairdryers though! Cost is £5 per person per night. The Sligachan Hotel over the road brews its own beer and does decent food in its bar (there is a separate restaurant too) - bar is cavernous inside rather than a cosy pub but nice enough.

We loved this site. Even the midges didn't put us off! There were so many of them in the tent at one point, we sat in the car. Which was awesome due to the views!
Facilities were great.Hot showers all day long. Clean and warm in the blocks too. Pub/Restaurant across the road was lovely. Friendly, fast and reasonably priced.
No shops around, BUT! You wouldn't go to Skye to be stuck in one place.Plenty shops whilst travelling around.

Good basic site in a beautiful setting, we were lucky to get a sunset and the Cuillins were pink! Good facilities - just bear in mind that the washing up area is round the back of the toilet block and not lit apart from light shining through from the windows so take your lantern if you want to get your pots clean! As previous review states the warden is not a man of many words but is there on site in his caravan if you need him. We found this site great as it backs onto the river and the dog loved it.

The site has great views but is a bit exposed in windy weather; this was Scotland in September so that is not a surprise! Essential kit is a good sleeping bag with a hood. It was windy and raining while I stayed there and wet ground was a bit of an issue insofar as I had to inspect the ground before pitching - but no more than any other site in similar weather. Let's face it, camping is never going to be ideal in wet weather but that is part of the charm (Jeremy Clarkson - stay in your hotels!) This is a great base for exploring and I stayed two nights using the site just as a sleeping place. Eight pounds for a tent and 2 people; cheapest on my trip (I was charged over £15 in one place). It was windy and cold (no midges in this weather!) but there were plenty of shower cubicles and hot water was always available. I had a hot shower on both nights well after 11pm. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a washing up area round the back of the shower block which was adequate. The guy collecting the money reminded me of Hagrid from Harry Potter; large and not much to say but pleasant enough. This site suited me very well; I don't like being shepherded Butlins-style and prefer the leave-you-to-it attitude. I did not use the hotel/restaurant across the way but it looked welcoming. No shop that I could see. I would use this place again. If you have never visited Skye you must put it on your list of places to go. Take the roads less-travelled for stunning scenery.

I've visited this site on 2 occasions, July 2006 and June 2007. The location is excellent. However, that's where the positives end. Drainage within the site is poor, so pitch on higher ground, or avoid this site altogether in wet weather. The quality of facilities is average, made worse by the fact they are not well maintained. The only time you're liable to see the warden is when he's collecting money. Midges can be a problem as the site is low lying, but this is Skye (bring repellent and a net). Overall this campsite is not worth the high price paid (double those for Glen brittle).

Nice campsite. Wonderful views. Hot showers, clean facilities. Reasonable price. Central position for walking. Only down side is the noise from the road - we had moved from a very remote campsite with no traffic noise and were quite aware of the main road next to the site. No shop nearby so make sure you bring everything you need. Pub across the road very convenient.
