Disappointed with site after reading the positive reviews. Stunning location and adequate facilities. Hotel across the road OK but barn like and not a menu to our liking. Hook up at £4 per night is most expensive I have come across and it failed at 10pm! Site owner very grudgingly gave a £2 refund but only after I became quite insistent. Cant fault location and views but not a favourite of mine.

Cracking wee place! Apart from those midges it's a place worth visiting. Loadsa walks, cracking scenery and a handy wee hotel nearby if you fancy a meal. I spoke to the guy who runs it and he is really genuine (you dont get that ripped of feeling at £4 a head).

Excellent site and cheap compared to a lot of other sites we've stayed on and the views are fantastic. Planned to stay three nights ended up staying a week, weather was so good and site was so relaxed. Midgies can be a problem if you are not prepared, so make sure you are! we will be back for sure.

August 2004 WHAT A PLACE!!!!!!!The camp site was EASY to find, the view was breathtaking. Right by the water surrounded by mountains. No booking was needed. The HOT showers were excellent. Central to most places. We would recommend to all. But you do need to get provisions as it is a good distance to a shop or garage, except the hotel accross road does alcohol take-aways. The only down fall in the MIDGES. But if you have the nets & spray you are fine. But you get them whereever you camp on skye.

August 2004 We were impressed by the totally "laid back" "no frills and no fuss" attitude of the warden in this little gem of a campsite. The cost is minimal and the facilities, although basic compared with many campsites we have been on, are more than adequate. Hot showers at all times, friendly advice and welcome, and the setting of the campsite is absolutely perfect. No shop or other facilities on site, but a pub across the road - 2 minutes away! What more could a body ask for? We would definitely return to this campsite as we felt very much a part of the environment.....excellent!

July 2003 We were told by the local who gave us a lift from the ferry in Armadale (south on the Isle of Skye) that Sligachan was the place to be on Skye for campers. And it is! A campsite in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by beautiful mountains. No reception, just a boy who appears out of nowhere and asks you how long you will be staying, collects the money and then disappears again. The hotel nearby serves nice food and drink, like "the mighty midge", which is lager.

Oct 2002 I have visited this site several times over the years in both tents and caravans. Ideally placed for walking in the Cullins and right beside the lively 'Slig' pub. Thee are however no shops or other facilites for many miles. This means planning ahead is required. The main drawback of the site is that it is very exposed to the elements particularly a strong wind which is not unknown in these parts! On my last visit I felt that the site was fairly basic for the price asked. No othe complaints. I will no doubt return in the future.

Aug 2002 This is the first site you reach when entering Skye from the south. Head north on the A87 until the junction with the A863. The site is situated right on the main road at the head of a sea loch and at the foot of the Cullin Mountains with a river running through the bottom of the site. The site is basic and quite small, with pitches being slightly sloping. It is in an ideal situation for walking and is it is mainly used by walkers, although the Sligachan Hotel is right across the road and has a children's playground and family dining area with a games room. For shopping you have to travel 10 - 15 miles to either Portree or Broadford where you will find supermarkets and gift/craft shops. Ideally situated in the centre of Skye for touring. Prices £4.00pp. pn.
