This is our second visit in 3 weeks, that in itself should say it all.
Site is on an elevated position above the town which is great for food and bars.
Selkirk Hotel for beer garden and lunch
Wardens live on site and are very friendly.
Very good facilities, very well priced £24
Definitely one of our favourites.

Great site, situated in a great spot. 2 min walk into Kirkcudbright. With two dogs its woodland for walking was brilliant. Youngsters do sit in the park at night(which you go through to the town and woodland) but was not off putting to walk through for us, even me on my own. Overall I can't say enough about Silvercraigs we loved it. Will be back Thank you for a lovely stay

The new owners have made recent improvements: additional hardstanding pitches (but you'll still need chocks); more hook-ups; you now get one key for the toilet block (was a key pad before); there's a drive-over motorhome dump (on a slope - very effective at draining the grey water tank!) with a long fresh water hose.
There is a new wooden fence to separate the camp site from the Council play area, where youngsters can gather after school. Plus a keypad security barrier at the vehicle entrance, and CCTV overlooking the right of way through the site. If that makes it sound a potentially troublesome site, it very much is not. Lovely & quiet at night, good night sky.
The Town Hall redevelopment will be completed very soon, bringing even better exhibitions to The Artists' Town. Our dog loves the extensive woods behind the site. £22 for hardstand & EHU; they do take cards for payment, but no recycling (a Council matter, not the site's fault). Ask for a pitch at the edge to get the best views over the town to the hills beyond at sunset.

Lovely place for a motorhome stay because it is so convenient for town. Go out at the play park end and there is a small supermarket; another fifty yards and you are in the town centre shopping and like many small Scottish towns it has some good independent stores.
The site is part of a municipal park with swing and roundabouts for children.
Now run by a trust which also runs the municipal swimming pool.
We would recommend the Selkirk Arms for a quality meal but not low cost.
If anything the showers were too hot. Be careful with small children.
A lovely site, our second stay and we will be back!

Just back from a nice wee stay at Silvercraigs the campsite gave a very safe feeling for we had kids with us and this alone is worth the fee. A big plus is the view from the site and the long term campers who love this site and return year after year thy are so nice it makes me very proud to say that I have stayed at this site. The Wardens are just so helpful even the grass cutting team have got to be up there with them at five star. The facilities are clean and tidy and kids loved the playground and football park. Shops very handy at bottom of hill. The locals are fun and warming. Hope to go back soon.

Lovely little campsite right on the edge of Kirkcudbright. You can walk down from the campsite into the town - going through a really good playpark. There is also a football pitch and what looks to be a dog walk going up around the edge of it. Access for cars must be at the other end, as there were no public roads next to the park, making it a great safe place to let the kids be 'free range'.
Shower block was rather cold and showers are a basic push-button without temperature control. Hot and a good pressure, but only suitable for adults, not small children.
We had a good pitch by the facilities block, but lower pitches were a bit soggy - probably better in a warm summer than a blooming wet and cold spring! Rock pegs recommended.
Marvellous view out over the town, friendly and helpful wardens (live off-site). Bit of noise coming up on the Saturday night from what must be a local pub, but didn't stop us from getting to sleep. Don't think I'd want to pitch right at the boundary to the park during the summer, as I can see how it could be a bit noisy from teenagers congregating, but I'd think every other pitch would be fine.
We got a chippie from Polar Bites, which was on the expensive side but rather good. You really need to book if you want to sit in. On our last night we decided to get an Indian takeaway (Shaad Kitchen) from opposite Tesco, as well as some pizzas from the kebab/chippie/pizza takeaway a few doors up. Both places were good value and absolutely excellent food.
This is going on our 'must visit again' list. Though in warmer weather as I don't enjoy waking to a frozen tent & car!

Great campsite overlooking the town, which is 2 minute walk away. Friendly welcoming wardens and you can pick your site. The facilities are first class, clean and warm. The town has great pubs too and there are plenty of walks in the area. The town has plenty of shops and supermarkets-a friendly place.

We have come to Silvercraigs caravan park for 48 years, The warden goes out of his way to help you in anyway he can from when you arrive to leaving, he is always available as he stays on the site 24\7. Which is very handy, we love it here as the prices are good, and the site and facilities are very clean.

Three of us stayed here for a Saturday night, each with a small tent. Very friendly and helpful site warden. Facilities very good and clean. The site is a short walk into town with pubs, chippy, Chinese and one or two restaurants. No issues with local youths as previous reviewers have mentioned. Some noise drifting up from a local pub until the early hours. Nice views over the town and surrounding countryside. Council run, well kept site.

We've been coming here for many years, but had been deterred by the negative reviews recently. Pleased to be back enjoying the views and to report it's totally quiet at night! (bar the owls. ) This is a Council site, and like the 2 others at Castle Douglas and Lochmaben (Kirk Loch), it's at the edge of a park that includes a play area. If you want your site surrounded by security fencing, this is not the site for you. If you want to feel part of the town, this is the place. It costs £24 pn for EHU in high season (cash or cheque, no credit cards) which we thought good value; MHs may need chocks as parts of the site are lumpy or sloping. The toilets are roomy and bright (though a bit cobwebby high up), showers are free, sinks are in privacy cubicles, there's no hairdryer but there are sockets for your own one. One Warden walked round the site with us, to help us choose a pitch that suited us (and the dog) best. The other Warden spent ages talking to a group of pensioners with their motorbikes - it's a very welcoming site. There's a MH service point but no recycling. We'll be back, especially when Kirkcudbright has one of its major exhibitions - it merits its title of 'the artists' town'. And the Polar fish n chips are excellent.
