What a wonderful adult only site. Really quiet. Lovely pitches and great facilities. Everything was clean and tidy. There are individual washrooms, each with toilet, basin, hairdryer and shower. The owners/staff were really friendly and helpful. Only down side to the site is that it is quite expensive.
Just 5 mins walk from the site is a really great pub 'The Red Lion'. We had some great meals there and were made very welcome. There's also a very handy Post Office/General store which has a very good selection of goods. Also in the village is an Indian restaurant/takeaway. We are hoping to make a return visit next year. Very easy to get to Bath or Bristol.

Lovelly little site and worth every penny, great separate bathrooms, none of this shower cubicle rubbish.
Immaculately manicured lawns, dog exercise area and short woodland walk with information boards about local wildlife.
Quiet as the grave, just how we wanted it. The loudest noise we heard at night was the hedgehogs snuffling about.
I must also add that the Red Lion Bar & restaurant in the local village (2 minutes walk)was really excellent, we couldn't praise it enough. We also walked (25 minutes) to the Pony & Trap which appeared top quality but we only had a a ploughmans for lunch so can't comment on the meals, but it did look very professional.
However - we have two issues:
Our plot was too small for our free standing awning and we couldn't move to larger one, apparently, and we couldn't extend it onto the lawn even without a groundsheet so we had nowhere to put all the bits and pieces.
Secondly, and more annoying, was that the hire car was booked by the people who arrived just after us for 3 whole days. If you only have one car then surely there needs to be some limit to the time one customer can hire it. Or at least ask new arrivals, at arrival, whether they are considering hiring it and what the current booking is.
Would we stay there again? probably not on balance but if we did it would be to go the the Red Lion again.

This is a little gem of a site, beautifully landscaped with flower beds and all sorts of tasteful little statues and ornaments scattered about. The pitches are all gravelled, which was a boon when we were there during the wettest summer on record! In fact the whole site was very well-drained. The only problem was that the individual bathroom floors got a bit muddy - perhaps doormats would help?
There's a large library room with books to borrow and lots of information leaflets suggesting walks in the area. Unfortunately it was too wet to do any of them but we will certainly return, maybe next year if the weather's better! There are so many interesting places within easy reach - Bath, Bristol, Cheddar Gorge, and of course the lake itself.
As other reviewers pointed out, you have to leave your car in the carpark and are towed to your pitch by a tractor. It was rather nice not to have do all that manoeuvring! You can drive the car to the pitch for loading and unloading only. Despite the wet weather we didn't find it too inconvenient to have to leave the car in the carpark.

We thought it would be good to visit this adult only site as we now didn't have the children and it was not too far from Bath.
The site is beautifully kept. The toilet facilities are excellent and it was a surprise to open a door and walk into your own bathroom. The staff were very helpful too.
We took the park and ride into Bath. Wished we had gone earlier as car park was very full. Bath is beautiful and always worth a visit.
We also walked to the lakes from the site, as advised by staff. The day we did this, it kept raining but we still had a good time and walked up to the lookout areas, which gave good views. The cafe is worth a visit, food, price and service were all very good. Plus you can just sit there and look at the water.
We took a small drive just down the road to Cheddar Gorge. We opted to do the all inclusive ticket (parking only was £5. 00). We used our caravan club vouchers, which got us £3. 00 each off each ticket.
The pub in the village the Red Lion is worth a visit. The food was outstanding. It was well priced and very good quality. We did the grill night special too.
We would visit this park again, it was very quiet and relaxing.

Just returned from a very relaxing three days stay at this lovely site. Had a couple of pleasant walks around the banks of the Chew Valley Lake (reservoir) which are about 800 metres from the site.
Staff were very obliging and the pitches well maintained and landscaped with natural and planted shrubs. Some of the pitches are fully serviced and others are being upgraded currently. They even have a large goldfish pond the size of a small swimming pool.
There is an arrangement whereby they tow your van from the reception to the pitch with a mini tractor. Whilst this might seem inconvenient it is all very quickly done and less hassle than using the van mover and for certain protects the grass surrounds of the pitch from damage by people manoeuvring their vehicle to park their van.
There was no indication of any of the nasty smells emanating from the washroom drains as mentioned in other reviews and the toilet / washroom cubicles are cleaned twice a day. There does seem to be a conscious effort by the staff to make sure you enjoy your stay although they do seem to have covered every potential misdemeanour on site with a polite warning notice.
We spent a morning visiting the docks in Bristol which was very interesting and would have stayed longer to look around the S.S Great Britain but for the cold weather.
Local Spar shop in village OK for essentials, the Co-op in Chew Magna was better but Tesco (and Sainsbury's apparently) at Midsomer Norton are only 15-20 mins away.
It was the first time we had ever been to an 'Adults Only' site. The fees were more expensive than normal CC sites but probably worth it to recharge our batteries in readiness to enjoy time with the grandchildren when we returned home.

Have just spent a few very pleasant days at this site which has lots of lit Christmas decorations which made it feel that little bit special. We found it all just as detailed in their website. We did find the journey a bit harrowing down the country lanes but this is just because of the size of our motorhome - definitely no fault of the site. We only really had one slight criticism and that has already been detailed in the reviews - i. E. There was a bad smell from the drains in the showers and the washing up room. Our only other point was we thought it would be good to have a couple of toilet only rooms because if people only wanted the loo they took up a whole bathroom. In busy times this could be a nuisance. We tried the bus to Bristol which worked out well. It would have been good if there had been one to Bath also but unfortunately only one a week! There is a good walk to the Lake which although a bit on the muddy side this time of year was very nice and peaceful. We tried the Red Lion pub in the village - they do an OAP special on Tuesday and Wednesday - good value. All in all a good time was had by all.

We rang up on the off-chance there was a space and we got lucky, there was an economy pitch for £19 a night with ehu, water and tv aerial point. We were in pitch #35 which was adequate for our swb autosleeper.
The staff were lovely and helpful and we decided almost straight away to stay an extra night.
The site is small, though we didn't experience any problems with noise or queues for the showers. My only gripe would be that the toilets are in self contained units so the loo is in the same room as the bathroom.
Yes there are lots of rules and regulations, but I have come to expect that from a caravan club site.
Worth a mention - a short walk from the site there is the bus-stop and 4 times a day a bus runs to Bristol (£4. 80 return). The bus takes about an hour to get there and is a lovely drive through the countryside with fantastic views of Bristol as you go there.
The bus also runs through Stanton Drew, where there is the second largest neolithic stone circle (Avebury is the largest) where you can go and wander round for £1 (in the honesty box) without a single person in sight! Magic, after the hordes at Stonehenge! Only thing - dogs not allowed.
While a little pricey, we decided we would still defo go back to Chew Valley.

Mmmmmm. Not sure about this site. Yes, it is set out nicely, is like a garden and looks good. I didn't find the pitches too small, although they are not usual CC size.
My main issues were with the 'luxury shower rooms'. I would not describe them as luxury! Stroud Hill Park (CC AS in Cambs) have 'luxury' shower rooms. Just because there is a WHB, loo and shower doesn't make them luxury-they were OK, nothing more.
They got very wet after using the shower, and there were no mops to dry them off. Also they stank of a horrible drainy smell and had some of the most disgusting toilet brushes I have ever seen anywhere.
I think this site is ideally suited to caravans, not so good for motorhomes. I assumed there would be a bus into Bath, but there isn't.
You have therefore to use the park and ride (about 10 miles from the site) and you can't park motorhomes above 2m there. You have to leave the van in a slightly dodgy looking lay-by opposite. We did this, and everything was OK. Bath is well worth a prolonged visit-loads to do.
Also, there is only one bus a day into Bristol. I wish I'd known this.
This site is not worth the money in my opinion.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at Bath Chew Valley, the site far exceeded our expectations, the staff were always there when needed, and very helpful.
The toilet blocks were in constant use throughout the day, but this was no problem, these were constantly being cleaned to a very high standard.
The lawns and pitches were kept in a very good condition along with the flower beds.
The reason for the high quality of the grounds is the restrictions on vehicles being allowed onto the pitches and parking on the grass, when you arrive you are promptly sited by the grounds team, who also level your caravan if required, this takes them minutes to complete and you do not have any hassle of trying to park and position the caravan your self. And for the record I have no problem parking or positioning our caravan.
When leaving and you are packed up they bring your caravan to you in the car park and help you hitch up, it all adds up to making your time at Bath Chew Valley a little more special.
During your stay there is no restrictions on you taking your car to your caravan to load or unload, and in reality does a 50 meter walk to the car park hurt any one, it is no real problem.
If we had one comment to make it would be nice to have the bottle bank away from the pitches as this was the only real annoyance, but then if people deposited the bottles not throw the in it amy aslo help reduce the noise.
We would rate this site very highly and it deserves its 5 star rating. And we will return next year for another week.
We would recommend this site to others who are looking for a site with no children, and who want peace and quiet and who love a garden feeling to the site.

We have had 2 visits to this site and I was left wondering why we gave it a second chance.
Our first visit was over new year (2009). It was a very cold winter. We hadn't been there that long when the electrics on the site went and we were informed by a warden that it appeared to be us causing the problem, using too much power. Not quite sure how they can tell but anyway, not wishing to cause a problem we switched to gas straight away and when the electrics went again, we were confident it wasn't us. We were again accused of using too much power. I wouldn't mind but if the site can't handle too much use, maybe they should have turned all the very pretty but unnecessary fairy lights off.
On our second visit, this time with my husband's parents in their van we also encountered a less than sympathetic warden. The site is full service and when we went out my father-in-law's hose disconnected and consequently the water was left running. Not good I know but an accident never-the -less.
When we returned there was a rather curt note left pinned to my father-in-laws caravan, saying that if this happened again then his water would be disconnected altogether.
The warden did inform my husband that although it is full service they don't like people connecting up that way and that they should just use it to fill up when necessary. Full service then??
Sorry lovely area and a nice site but not sure we will go again.
