We stayed at this beautiful 'adults only' site for 1 week in late May 2009. Unfortunately we picked the worst possible week for weather, high winds and torrential rain every day, so we were not really able to get out and enjoy the lovely walks in the area particularly around the lake, but a very nice quiet and peaceful stay nevertheless. The site staff were very friendly and helpful.
This site is beautifully landscaped and well maintained to an exceptionally high standard, with just 35 pitches. Situated in the village of Bishop Sutton, and about 10 miles from Bath.
A nice touch is that when you arrive, the warden uncouples your caravan beside reception, drives it to your pitch, levels and parks your caravan for you! You then park your car in the car park, this does very much improve the overall appearance of the site, as it means that you do not have vehicles cluttering your view. You can of course drive to your pitch to load and unload whenever you need to.
The toilet block is to an exceptionally high standard with individually heated units each with their own Shower cubical wash basin and WC. The site has recently become affiliated to the Caravan Club and it is to the standard that you would expect from the club, and then some. The site welcomes both members and non-members, with a small discount for members of the Caravan Club.
There is a SPAR in the village for every day items and the Red Lion Pub has just changed hands. The new owners were most accommodating and offered us a choice from the entire menu, long after the 9.00 O'clock deadline, when they would normally have stopped serving food. The quality of the food was superb and excellent value. We ate there most evenings.
There is a small free lending library and a computer with free internet access. And Wi-Fi internet access for people with their own laptop.
It was not cheap, at £22 a night for two adults on a fully serviced pitch with elect hook-up, personal water supply and waste water disposal.
This is definitely a site that we will visit again.

The owners met us at a gate (barrier) un-hooked the caravan, they took the unit to our pitch and sited for us. Very helpful at all times and nothing was too much trouble. The site very clean, I liked the individual washing facilities. In reception there were plenty of books and maps to use while you were on hoilday. The grass was cut regularly, you had to park in the car park which allowed peace and quiet at all times. The local shops stocked every thing you could want, nice pub in village with restaurant towns and pretty villages near-by. A truly good adult park. We are going again September 2009.

The site is very nicely laid out and I agree with most of the comments left by previous reviewers. We were however disappointed with the showers - after a night of sub-zero temperatures there was no heating on in the shower block - brrrr - a little chilly. The shower is also one of those you have to keep pressing all the time to keep the water coming and in addition to this the lights are on a timer, so at one stage I found myself in the dark in the shower frantically trying to wave my hand in front of the lighting sensor!.
Also there seemed to be a fine layer of dust covering everything.
Dog owners be aware that the dog walk is not really a walk, just a long piece of fenced off land by the field about 12 foot wide, also you are not allowed to let your dog off the lead on the dog walk which we found quite bemusing!
We are sure that this site is someones idea of heaven, but it was a little too formal for us and we felt that the price was a little steep.

This is a 35 pitch adults only caravan site that has recently become affiliated to the Caravan Club so you can stay if you are a non-member but it is cheaper if you are a Caravan Club member.
The site is in the village of Bishop Sutton, about 10 miles from Bath.
All pitches are flat hardstandings. When you arrive you uncouple outside reception and the warden parks your caravan on the pitch where you direct with his mini-tractor. Ideal for those folks who dread reversing onto their pitch.
The site is very well landscaped and maintained. An unusual feature is a central car park outside reception so there are no cars parked on the pitches. You can drive to your pitch to unload and load up whenever you like but then park in the car park. It does improve the overall look of the site!
The toilet block has six self-contained centrally heated units of a very high standard each with WC, shower and wash-hand basin. One of the units is adapted for the disabled. Ample hot water included in the site fees.
Disposal for chemical toilets. Laundry service available for £2.80 a load plus £1.20 for drying, you drop it off in the morning and it is ready by evening. However you have to do your own ironing but an ironing board and iron are available on loan free of charge. A spin dryer is available for use also free of charge.
The information room includes a computer with internet access available for free. You can also get Wi-Fi if you have your own laptop. Extensive lending library all for free.
Recycling facilities for glass, paper and plastics.
Dog walk.
Shopping facilities available just five minutes walk at the village SPAR which sells most basics but also has a good butcher with superb home made sausages and a full range of meats. In the next village there is a good farm shop.
The Red Lion public house in the village does real ales and cooked food.
We paid £19 a night for two adults on a standard pitch with 16amp hook-up. Super pitches with a water supply and waste water disposal available at extra cost.
Plenty to see in the area. Chew Valley lake for fishermen. The city of Bath is beautiful but easier to access on the bus with good choice of park and ride. There is a bus to Bristol from the village if you want a rest from driving. Cheddar caves and Wookey Hole if the weather is wet and you like going underground. Wells has a magnificent cathedral.
Site staff are very helpful and welcoming and definitely a site we shall return to.

We stayed at this very quiet site 10 days in May. The weather wasn't kind to us but the break from the hum drum was welcolmed. A great location near to Bath, Bristol Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Weston Super Mare to name a few. The toilets are just spectacular. A nicer toilet will be hard to find. There is free use of a PC & printer in reception & enough books in the library to put any library to shame. When we arrived the site warden was really helpful & had virtually unhitched & parked the van before we were out of the car. There are numerous walks within the area with spectacular views of the Lake and surrounding countryside. Altogether a wonderful site & one that I am sure we will revisit.

Stayed here for a few nights in September, a very well thought out site, very quiet, good pitches/hard standing. Quite expensive at £18 per night. Excellent toilets/washroom/shower combined, as mentioned this is a very quiet site, not lots to do on the site or immediate area apart from the lake. Red Lion pub up the road was a bit of a joke, no food served on a Sat night and the beer rather ordinary, but strike out further afield and there are numerous excellent pubs and eating houses. Recommended for a quiet stay.

A beautiful adult only site for the discerning camper. Just like pitching in a large garden. A lot of thought has gone into providing caravanners with privacy. The owners are very meticulous over standards and up-keep. One or two caravan owners were upset by the site manager but we experienced no problems at all. Stunning walking country, towns etc for the inevitable rainy days. If you want peace and quiet, green grass and flowers and country walks, this one is for you.

Just had a very relaxing 10 days at this lovely site. Couldn't find a fault with this site at all. The warden Keith went out of his way to help as did the rest of the staff. We arrive and what a friendly greeting we had. Advised where to go to the pitch and before we got out of the car the caravan was unhooked and sited, what service. The same when we were going home Keith and another young man came and hitched the caravan up for us. Lovely garden which are well looked after. The shower blocks are super and spotless. Would recommend to anyone.

Spent a long weekend at Chew Valley and although we the site was OK and we had a good relaxing break, there is no reason for me wanting to return. Fair do, the toilets on this site are ace, as you have your own little room to do your business! The security of the site is also good as it has a barrier which keeps out unwanted guests. Unfortunately, our welcoming reception was cold from the warden. We have a Best of British loyalty card which credits the holder a discount but was told it was not possible to use it. And was then surcharged £2 for arriving after 7pm, we were 20 minutes late! There is not much in the village, 2 grotty pubs & a Spar shop but that's it.

May 2005 We went to Chew Valley in May after picking up our caravan from the dealership nearby. Its a beautiful site and adults only, so no noise just birdsong, sheep and cows. The toilets and showers are spotless. I like the fact that if you just want to use the sink you can draw a curtain behind you to make it private. When you arrive the staff park your caravan for you and you just park your car in the car-park behind.
All plus points, and everywhere is within 10 miles or so, Bristol, Bath, Cheddar Gorge (absolutely stunning)Wells, Weston Supermare. A large Tesco is about 15 minutes away by car and theres a small spar shop in the village. Some excellent restaurants in the area, the reception will let you have a look at the menus and there are tel no.s if you want to book. We went to the Blue Bowl, only 5 or so minutes away and it was lovely.
Theres also a Toby Carvery about 15 minutes or so away. Theres a few locals in the village , one of them being at the top of the lane, i,m not sure they understood my derbyshire accent! Around the corner from the site, there is Chew Valley Lake, its beautiful and if you like birds/ducks, you'll love it. The tea room there is great and we frequented it many times when we stoppped for a week.
We love the site that much, we are going again in August and bringing along a friend with his caravan, there's so much more we havent done yet
