Excellent site, good location, friendly staff and a nice layout with tents pitching in the middle sections and tourers around the sides and none of those hideous Statics. Facilities were all clean and in OK condition. Our main reason for staying here was the fact that Banham Zoo was only a 5 minute walk away. When camping at the site you pay once to enter the zoo and you can go in and out as many times as you want during your stay. Car boot sale takes place nearby on a Sunday but it's far enough away so it's not an issue. Would definitely visit again.

We visited this site 3 times last year the first April in the rain, the second May on a quiet weekend and August bank holiday. Our kids love it here even when packed too capacity. The zoo is the best we have visited, the site is very relaxed they don't mind when you pack up if you want to spend your final day at the zoo you can pack up at tea time which is a real bonus and you pitch whereever you want. We will be back this year.

Lovely site well laid out with hedges for privacy. Hardstanding and hookups available. Showers and toilets were a bit outdated but were very clean and although the showers had fixed head and were push buttons they were warm and definitely usable.
The site is next door to Banham Zoo which is excellent and you get a reduced rate when staying on the site and this last the whole time you are there. There are some good craft type shops and a spa accross the road. We were recomended to the Gamekeeper at Old Beckenham but it was fully booked so ended up at the pub in Kenninghall which was ok but not brill. Thetford is not far away and well worth a visit as is the forest. The site is in a good position for visiting norfolk and surrounding area.

Have just got back from 2 nights at Applewood and it was fantastic. I have 3 boys all under 10 and they had a ball. There is plenty of space for them to run around plus a great park. The park is situated in the grounds of Banham Zoo which my sons thought was great especially when they could hear Douglas the Donkey at night!
The facilities are modern and really clean and the staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a Spar shop just across the road which is owned by the Zoo and I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were. There is also a wonderful gift shop that sells the most divine candles again very reasonably priced. We will definitely return again next year.

What an excellent site, we went as a large party and the site was perfect. The shower and toilets are very clean and cleaned twice a day, the showers are some of the best I have come across on campsites. You are camped on the far side of Banham Zoo and the sounds in the evening are well worth it, you also get a free view of the birds of prey as they do there demostration flights in the zoo, they fly right across the site. There is a spar shop across the road from the site, and the nearest town is diss which is about an 8 mile drive away.

Didn't want to leave this site. We loved the layout, the size of the pitches, the location (the zoo is a must) and the resident campers. The site and facilities were always spotless however we did wonder how they would cope when the site was busy. We will definitely be returning.

July 2004 This was our first time caravaning and I dont think we could have picked a better place to start off. The facillities are very clean(showers, toilets, laundry room). The kids loved it, staying right next to Banham zoo was out of this world for them. Given that you are next to the zoo the site is suprisingly quiet. We will definately be returning very soon.

Febuary 2004 We took the kids out Feb half term, we were the only family there. The toilets were very clean and constant hot water. There is a zoo right next door that you can go into and pay once and go in as many times as you like as long as you were staying on the camp site, the kids loved it.

August 2003 Very nice site right next door to the zoo. We visited whilst the weather was extremely warm and didn't have a problem with animal smells. In fact, the only problem we had was with Douglas the Poitou donkey, who was very vocal at inconvenient hours.
There is a shop just over the road also owned by the zoo which was very reasonably priced.
I would definitely recommend this site, and a visit to the zoo is definitely a must.

October 01 As you probably know it is situated next to Banham Zoo so it is great for the kids, you pay once and can enter as many times as you like. The site is very quite at night with only the sound of the owls and the odd donkey from the zoo. The toilets and showers are fine when the site is fairly quite but we did wonder how they would cope in peak season but I should imagine new year will be very quite. We went in October and there were only about 7 vans there and most of these belonged to the zoo workers. There is a village shop within walking distance but for our main shopping we went into Diss which is a good 10 minute drive but it has a safeway, tesco, woolworths etc. Every Sunday there is a boot sale in the zoo car park which is at the site entrance. All in all we think it is one of the better sites we have visited in that area and it is an area that we always go to
