Great campsite, it's gone to the top of our list of must return to campsites. As you pass the pub the entrance is the next turning on the right, about half a mile up the road, if you have a camper van, after you have turned into the lane and you go up the hill you will see a gate infront of you, go through this and keep right as this will bring you round the farm, as the turning at the top of the hill to go between the farm and the barn is very tight, was a bit of a fit with just a car and bikes on back. When you get on site you just park and find a spot you like, get out of the car though, and have a look about as there are craggy bits with camping bits in between and and in the second field there are some nice secluded spots. The farmer then comes around in the morning to collect the fee's. I was plesently supprised with the ladys toilets as id expected a hut with one toilet, but it was a stone building with 2 toilets which were always clean and always had toilet paper, two stainless steel sinks and then a vanity unit with two proper sinks, there was only cold water but they had provided liquid soap at both sets of sinks, and it was always clean. The views from the site are stunning and there are endless walks to do from the site, some along the valley next to the river dudden, the walk to the pub took about 20 miniutes but we where strolling, and when you reach the church you can nip through the fields if you want to, its a very plesant walk, with the road following the river. The pub was very friendly and excepts dogs on leads and there is a beer garden with a field for the children to kick a ball about, the food was really good. We loved this campsite and can't wait to go back but we where lucky with the weather!

Great little site with amazing surrounding scenery. Facilities are basic, but if you can handle that, then the site is a dream (also, the cold water there tastes especially nice, not quite sure why). Nice, quiet site with a good sunset over the nearby mountain (not sure of the name) in the evening. Just got back from my 2nd visit from Turner Hall today and already planning to go back at the weekend with my girlfriend. As for getting there, I would definately say go over the Wyrnose pass, as the views are as amazing as the road is scary, but any strong willed driver (with a good working car) will really appreciate these roads…… with its sheer drops and its very steep hillclimbs!.

August 2003 Very simple site, stunning views. Newfield pub serves good well priced food. It was belting down one day and the pub were quite happy to let us sit in there all day and night, playing cards, darts etc.
Basic toilet facilities, but if you don't mind it basic, then a great site.
In contrary to one of the above comments. DO GO ON THE WRYNOSE (make sure car in good working.) This is the most spectacular road I have ever been on. If you feel brave, then go on Hardknott pass. A fantastic way to see the views of the area

APRIL 2004 This campsite is fantastic if you want to ruff it. There were six of us so there was plenty of room. The toilets were very clean even though there was no hot water. The Newfield Inn pub down the road was very nice and did great food. When you travel to this campsite I recommend that you don’t travel over Wrynose Pass as it is very scary.

June 2003 We have stayed on this site many times. The views are marvellous which makes up for the lack of facilities. Two toilets and cold taps. Very clean. The Newfield Inn down the road does excellent food. Lovely walks in the area although a car is useful for shopping. The nearest village is Broughton in Furness about 5 or 6 miles away.
