We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this fantastic site.
I totally agree with the other reviews - Yes the dog walk is small but ideal for those early morning, last thing at night trips. The site is immaculate, the facilities clean, nice shower and perfect location away from the touristy area.
The Old Crown pub is about a mile away and does very nice food, good real ale and friendly company - dogs are welcome in the bar and for a trial period also in the small dining room.
The site is close to the Lakes, has good walks around, nearest shop is near the pub (about 1 mile) but this is closed on Sundays.
We had a great time and felt totally relaxed after our visit (would have stayed longer but for work commitments) and at £12 per night a total bargain.

This site is a gem, immaculately kept, set in gorgeous countryside on the fringe of the northern lake district but close enough to get into the hills for the energetic. The site is extremely well laid out with electrics and basic but perfectly adequate facilities to be found in garden sheds but don't let that put you off - they are exceptionally clean (unlike many other sites) and perfectly functional - they have a charm of their own!
We have rarely found the peace and quiet which exists here and will definitely be returning. The area is quiet but easily accessible fro Penrith, keswick and 'Carlisle. We're into walking and were heading up the hills within a 10 minute drive - keswick and the bigger hills a bit longer.
Part of me is reluctant to share this review as I would hate the site to get too difficult to get into, but it really is excellent and the owners, who really do seem to be customer focussed deserve the recognition for what we believe is one of the best sites in the country - bar none! Definitely hoping to return soon. For those with children I'm afraid you'll have to wait as it is adults only - we used to be a bit put off by that but to be honest it is probably why we now like it, no footballs, bikes etc, frankly young children would probably get bored anyway. Am writing this review as we sit in the van on the Keswick site (having now got in) - the location remains gorgeous and proximity to the high fells closer, but all of a sudden this feels like industrial camping, impersonal, not so friendly and sadly not so clean! Riverside camp site absolutely strongly recommended.

Have been to this site twice now and have just booked to go again for the end of August (counting down the days). It is a lovely site set in peaceful countryside without the sound of screamingy kids. I would recommend this site to anyone who is looking for a quite time away in a lovely location. The owners should feel very proud of themselves for running such a lovely site.

This is how all sites should be !
Beautiful surroundings well cared for site no brats just total peace and quiet.
The site is divided into two, one half being the caravan clubs cl this has 11 pitches but only 5 are in use at any one time so you are not packed in like sardines.
Located about 3 miles from the lovely village of Caldbeck and within 15 miles to Carlisle,Penrith or Keswick at around £11 per night it just doesn't get much better than this.

We have just returned after a two week stay at the riverside touring park and were so delighted with our stay there. Such friendly hosts, dawn and john, nothing was too much trouble, and a beautifully kept site, toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean, (no piped music!) for those that can't live without it! All you get is peace and quiet, a little babble from the beck! a few baaaaa's from the surrounding fields, full of sheep, & lambs, one of the friendliest sites I have ever visited. Will definitely be going back there.

Cracking little site, well run and super clean with very helpful owners. They may have garden sheds as toilet and shower but could teach other sites thing or twoas excllent.
The views and area are lovely.
A credit to its owners, I will be back.

We just stayed one night at this site on our way to Scotland the site is very clean our dog loved the river that runs along its edge .
John the owner was very friendly and gave direction for a lovely walk in fields adjacent to the site we saw loads of rabbit's even came close to Tony owl ,would have loved to have had more time to explore this area
Like previous reviews don't be put off by the shower and toilet sheds. They are very different even running to a clock and bookshelves in the loo could have spent ages in there.
Hope to spend more time there on our next trip up north.

We have just had a another week at this site 1st class site and nice and quiet. Many thanks to John the owner for helping us with a leaking skylight This is a ideal site to relax and enjoy Cumbria even if the weather was a bit wet when we were there. The site as usual was very clean and toilets were very good even though they look like a shed, inside its a very good Showers are very good. Dog walk is small but being in a quiet area plenty of quiet roads to take dog. We hope to return soon as the owners (John and Dawn) make you very welcome. Best CL site we have been to.

Just returned from this site 25th June to 1st July intended returning home Friday but ended up stopping till Monday mainly due to the heat wave Really enjoyed our stay here (me the wife and our dog Benson) The site is divided into two by a gate and more or less mirror each other, there is a small disappointing dog walk alongside a stretch of the river, but ample country lanes with quiet traffic are in close proximity, the site seemed to attract friendly older caravaners (no tents) with very few children there when we visited, but then again there is little here to attract family orientated stays, there is no on site shop and the nearest facilities are 1-2 miles away in Hesketh - Newmarket where also is the nearest pub (own brewery) where everybody has time for each other and social to a fault around 9 - 10 miles to Penrith for main shopping/petrol but easily accessible to all major attractions north and south of the border all in all more suited to a relaxing break but a site that is top notch in my book

We stayed here for 5 days and have just come back. A delightful site and we are going to return again asap.
Don't be put off by the 6x4 sheds for the showers and toilet as inside they are superb and clean. Power shower and toilet both heated. Spacious pitches EHU to all pitches. A quiet site you will return to again and again.
